How is it possible to keep a full 5* rating with over 100 reviews in Bulgaria?
I have never seen this, and booked the hotel right away for our family holiday end of June. Just out of curiousity, how this is possible.
After the first call with the hosts from the car, while driving to Sozopol, asking about the parking options it hit me, why is this logical and true.
It is all about authentic hospitality, simplicity, artistry, cleanliness and elegance.
It is not a luxury place at the first glance. It is full of art, hanging on every wall, mostly created by Yordan, the owner. It is sparkling clean everywhere. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and great view on Budzhaka beach. The luxury comes from the personal service provided by the family and the careful selection of every detail in the hotel,l. Every plant in the garden, every flower pot, every piece of furniture inside and outside make sense and are skillfully selected.
It is a boutigue place with about 20 rooms. A small trapezoid pool in the yard. Many comfortable seating corners around the pool invite you to sit, read, enjoy the sun, enjoy the shadow, sip great drinks, and enjoy the relaxing music.
On the first evening the hosts hit you with the best rakia you ever tested. Double distilled Pomorie rakia, it is not sold in shops, it is a special selection. It is crazy aromatic and mild. Even if you don't like rakia at all, you can not and should not refuse this hospitable gesture. Once you taste it, you know.
There is lush well-kept greenery around the building, this creates the luxury feeling as well.
Hospitality is all about anticipation of your needs. Once you finish your glass of sauvignon blanc in the evening you get a new refill without bothering to mention it. If you light a cigar, you get a special cigar ashtray without asking. The hosts recognize your intentions and needs in advance. So you feel authomatically relaxed and understood.
Breakfast is great. Freshly cut mango, nectarines or melones, different fruits depending on the day. Freshly fried mekitsi make you forget your strict diet.
It is a small restaurant in the yard, only for hotel guests. The menu is very short. The cook is very good. Fresh Black sea local fish is delivered daily. Yordan knows the fishers personally and goes early morning around 5 a.m. to select and buy it.
The pink tomatoes salad is memorable, it fits perfectly well with the rakia.
They have a great choice of beers. All the fish options are excellent. The pork neck steak is great. The chabata bread is great with olive oil and the shopska and greek salads. The grilled cheese with fruits on top is so simple and so tasty.
The cocktails carefully prepared by the hosts' daughter Plamena are tasty and refreshing.
It is a 30 min walk to the Old Town of Sozopol, where there are many nice restaurants on the cliffs overseeing the bay.
It is just 2 walking minutes to Bamboo beach bar.
We are now absolute fans of the place and will be...
Read moreI simply do not know where to begin. We started our trip and the staff were very kind and welcoming to begin with. All of this changed once we had discovered money was missing from our hotel room and went to inquire about this at the reception. The hotel was fairly quiet and in a safe area so we were confused as to who could have taken it. The hotel manager was very rude and unhelpful about it proceeding to claim this has never happened here before, we asked to speak to the cleaners about this but this never happened. The husband (other owner) came down to hear our inquiry however stayed for a minute only to dismiss our complaint. The day after we posted our complaint the hotel managers treated us horribly. Giving us dirty looks and making us feel very uncomfortable. Upon checkout we were scolded by the manager as if we were 2 year old children and not paying customers. The manager claimed they involved the police and let them know about our inquiry however we never saw police in the hotel and they never alerted us so we could speak to them ourselves. The owner also claimed to have been in the room herself with the cleaners the whole time however we had been up to the room multiple times whilst the cleaners were there and never saw her. I have never been treated like this at a hotel, especially one with such positive reviews. Our flight was at 10pm whilst checkout was at 12 and we felt so uncomfortable to leave our suitcases at the hotel that we had to lug them around Sozopol for 6 hours whilst waiting for our flight. The breakfast as well was very limited and was never replenished. Please take caution when...
