We had the most incredible experience at Family Batcave Homestay. Saro and his family are wonderful people - so kind and welcoming, and Saro’s wife is a fantastic cook! We loved our bungalow with its picturesque veranda, hammock and indoor and outdoor fans. It has everything you need to be comfortable and it’s all very clean. Note that it is a true homestay with a local family and not a luxury hotel (eg toilet is shared, accommodation is rustic) - people expecting creature comforts should go elsewhere. The setting gives you a sense of rural Cambodia and what life is like outside of the city, and Saro will give you lots of suggestions for things to do in the area (and can even be your guide!). We ate breakfast and dinner at the homestay every day and it was delicious and nutritious. It also gave us the chance to chat to Saro and his family and learn more about Cambodian life. This is a really special experience and one we’ll always remember. If you want a taste of local life with a local family, book yourself here for at least two nights. We stayed for four and were really...
Read moreFor anyone who wants a slice of life of Cambodian country life. The homestay here opened my eyes to a different side of Cambodia, especially after the clingy bustle of Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat.
Saro and his family were open and welcoming. If you want to, you can immersive yourself a bit in their daily lifes, share meals together, watch the kids play or cuddle the cats and dogs who live on his land. One of the dogs accompanied us on walks and guarded our door as we slept. If you don't want the company, you can relax on the balcony of the cozy huts and enjoy the scenery without being bothered. Meals prepared by Saro's wife were delicious and a vegetarian diet is possible here. The showers are shared, but are above expectations if you consider where you are staying.
Saro speaks excellent English and is an interesting conversationalist. He acts as guide too for the few attractions in the area, always having interesting things to say. He also helped us fix our transport to our next destination.

Read morewe can highly recommend this accommodation! It's beautiful there but what really makes this accommodation special is Saro and his family. just to give a few examples: they took us to a beautiful sunset spot, to another non-poluant spot to watch the bats, they gave us bikes so we could see an old temple ruins and take a bike ride through the rice fields, They always gave us good ideas about what we could do. All of this was for free and they did it with so much joy and kindness. the food is delicious, vegan and vegetarian are no problem. The nice thing is that you sit at the same table at dinner with the other guests and Saro. In the morning we often went for a walk between the rice fields, as they start right next to the homstay. this place just felt good. Saro and his wife are simply wonderful people. When we left, Saro organized our onward journey and his father waved at us with the sweetest smile. I traveled through Asia for six months and what made this accommodation stand out was the genuineness and friendliness of...
