We had the most incredible experience at Family Batcave Homestay. Saro and his family are wonderful people - so kind and welcoming, and Saro’s wife is a fantastic cook! We loved our bungalow with its picturesque veranda, hammock and indoor and outdoor fans. It has everything you need to be comfortable and it’s all very clean. Note that it is a true homestay with a local family and not a luxury hotel (eg toilet is shared, accommodation is rustic) - people expecting creature comforts should go elsewhere. The setting gives you a sense of rural Cambodia and what life is like outside of the city, and Saro will give you lots of suggestions for things to do in the area (and can even be your guide!). We ate breakfast and dinner at the homestay every day and it was delicious and nutritious. It also gave us the chance to chat to Saro and his family and learn more about Cambodian life. This is a really special experience and one we’ll always remember. If you want a taste of local life with a local family, book yourself here for at least two nights. We stayed for four and were really...

For anyone who wants a slice of life of Cambodian country life. The homestay here opened my eyes to a different side of Cambodia, especially after the clingy bustle of Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat.

Saro and his family were open and welcoming. If you want to, you can immersive yourself a bit in their daily lifes, share meals together, watch the kids play or cuddle the cats and dogs who live on his land. One of the dogs accompanied us on walks and guarded our door as we slept. If you don't want the company, you can relax on the balcony of the cozy huts and enjoy the scenery without being bothered. Meals prepared by Saro's wife were delicious and a vegetarian diet is possible here. The showers are shared, but are above expectations if you consider where you are staying.

Saro speaks excellent English and is an interesting conversationalist. He acts as guide too for the few attractions in the area, always having interesting things to say. He also helped us fix our transport to our next destination.

Overal very warm and helpful people with an open mind concerning the attitude of...

we can highly recommend this accommodation! It's beautiful there but what really makes this accommodation special is Saro and his family. just to give a few examples: they took us to a beautiful sunset spot, to another non-poluant spot to watch the bats, they gave us bikes so we could see an old temple ruins and take a bike ride through the rice fields, They always gave us good ideas about what we could do. All of this was for free and they did it with so much joy and kindness. the food is delicious, vegan and vegetarian are no problem. The nice thing is that you sit at the same table at dinner with the other guests and Saro. In the morning we often went for a walk between the rice fields, as they start right next to the homstay. this place just felt good. Saro and his wife are simply wonderful people. When we left, Saro organized our onward journey and his father waved at us with the sweetest smile. I traveled through Asia for six months and what made this accommodation stand out was the genuineness and friendliness of...

We had a great few days staying here and exploring Battambang. After we had settled in Saro invited us to have beer and fresh fish with their friends. This was an amazing experience, watching them cast nets into the water and pull up handfuls of fish, ready for the BBQ. We finished the day by walking to the bat cave for the daily bat exodus. The next day Saro organised a day tour around Battambang which was great fun, seeing and tasting all sorts. On our last day Saro drove us around the rice paddies and took us to a local temple, only to finish the day with a sunset and the bats leaving the cave. This was a truly unforgettable few days, Saro and his family are very welcoming, and want to help in any way they can. The room is big and basic, with an external shower/toilet. It also has a balcony with table, chairs, and hammock. There was also water refill available, and the food cooked by Saro's wife was incredible and reasonably priced!

We stayed at Saro's for 2 nights but wished we could have stayed for way longer. Saro and his family offer a proper authentic experience to see how beautiful Cambodia is and what life is like in the province. The rooms are simple and clean and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Saro also helped us to go around and book all the activities we wanted to do, giving us tips and advices for the most interesting things to see in the area, that aren't necessarily advertised on websites and guides. All of this made our stay in Battambang an unforgettable experience. He made us feel part of his family, even though for a short stay, and we'll remember our dinner time conversations for a long time. Hope to see you soon Saro!
