Oasis in Otres — Hotel in Khaet Preah Sihanouk

A small hotel with good sized rooms which were clean. The running hot water didn’t work so only a cold shower which is why the rating of 4. The street the hotel is on is probably the best street in Otres. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. At the beginning of the street are some good little shop, Tony’s which is also a restaurant is the best mini market where you can buy bread and cheese amongst other things. A couple of shops down you can get fresh vegetables. Otres beaches are ok as long as you stay near all the bars and restaurants elsewhere the beach can be a bit dirty. We ate breakfast and lunch at the beach bars and found a couple of good ones. The roads in Otres are quite bad because of all the Chinese building work going on. We hired a scooter and went to Sihanouk villa this place is not really worth a visit it’s dirty, smelly and just not a nice place which is a shame as apparently 3 years ago it was a nice place. Arrived here after staying in the Sea Breeze Resort just up the coast. Booked for 3 nights as seemed great in the photos. We arrived early so thought we would have a drink in the bar, which sadly didn't exist any longer. Everything was under 'constructuon', as can be seen in other posts. When the owner turned up, he quickly asked for the money, cash, up front which we supplied. We were given our room key and it was suggested we find our own way to the room. The picture provided was our room. I went down and asked about the fridge (still boxed), and was politely asked if I could unwrap and install it myself! AC went off during the night, so got very hot. Mysteriously came back on again of its own accord. After the second night we decided we just couldn't stay any longer and left, losing a night's stay. Owner asked for a good review. Nice accommodating guy and maybe the place for you if you want...

CALL BEFORE BOOKING

Would recommend calling before booking through the apps. We booked and paid with Agoda. We arrived and thought we had completed check-in, so went exploring. When we returned we were told that they're not accepting bookings through Agoda and only accept walk-ins or phone call bookings. We had to call Agoda and request a refund and book somewhere else. Not great on NYE. The rooms and bathrooms were nice. Very dim and hard to see. The A/C and WiFi were both pretty good too. The property had potential but was clearly in the process of being renovated. The pool was nasty green and the social area was empty. Definitely had potential, but for now was in desperate need of the finishing touches. The area around the accommodation was empty and dusty, but also very close to the beach. Maybe a 10 minute walk to get there. Currently not a great vacation spot...
