Mangrove Beach Bungalows — Hotel in Koh Rong Sanloem

Fantastic little family-run gem of a resort with lovely bungalows, great food and best staff team on Saracen Bay. The rooms and the food are great value, and the team - especially Sam and Dan - speak wonderful English and are incredibly helpful. I have been three times, staying in different bungalows, and loved each visit. The team are so helpful and flexible, and the view over the whole of Saracen Bay is stunning.

It’s a shame about the one negative review below and that when some people have unrealistic expectations they retaliate by being so unpleasant online. This is a local business on an island without mains water and electricity, and priced accordingly. It is not the Hilton and shouldn’t be reviewed to those standards. The rotten steps and bucket for plumbing Richard m mentions are just not true of anywhere here. It is true that the top floor of the bungalow with a view has no curtains, but that’s probably because it’s double sided glass with a sublime view. Take a look at my pictures - does that look like a hostel?

If you want high end luxury then you should go to the other end of Saracen Bay and pay ten times as much, but if you want a lovely, quiet, friendly, happy time surrounded by beauty and away from noisy beach...

Oh dear, there is so much to say about this place.. Let’s start with cleanliness, the beaches in front of the hotel are amazing but covered in junk. I had to clean up a bit, I picked up about 10kg of trash in 30 minutes. The room in itself is cute, very beachy, the bathroom is big but moldy and you have to use the bucket and cold shower to wash yourself. Do with that information what you will. The food in the restaurant is enjoyable, the people seemed nice but I always felt like I was distributing.. Also there is cats and dogs everywhere and they do what they want. If you don’t feel comfortable with that, I recommend to go elsewhere. The hotel is poorly located, all the way down to the beach, at least a 30mn walk from the Eden pier. I had to check-out in the middle of the night because there was a gecko in my room. They had to kill him and the vibes were so off that I left. So yeah, spend maybe a bit more cash and go somewhere else more decent. It’s sad cause the place could’ve been amazing but it’s severely lacking care. Which explain the...

We booked with Airbnb and they accepted our booking but straight after they told us they were overbooked but could still give us a bungalow which was brand new and recently made. It was ok, very basic, comfortable bed but definitely not the same view as the one listed on Airbnb that we booked. The location is good, a bit far from all the resorts on the beach. The service is terrible, only the Italian guy who works there is attentive but the rest of them seem not to care at all ; we waited 1 and a half hour for our dinner (ordered at 6.30 pm and came at 8pm) and my dish was not right (rice instead of fries, shrimps instead of squid) and another 45 min for ONE pancake. Food is just ok, be ready to wait and to be forgotten by the staff , the bbq fish plate is very poor and squid was undercooked.
