Green Plateau Lodge — Hotel in Ratanakiri

Green Plateau Lodge is located on the north side of the lake in Banlung, which makes it a bit quieter and closer to nature. We had a three night stay there. The amenities were good and the staff (a family) that take cares of it was kind and helpful. The rooms are a bit run down and if you worry about insects it might be best to stay closer to the city as this is located closer to green areas. But otherwise, the breakfast was excellent and it was really quiet. ||We came to Ratanakiri with a driver from Phnom Penh called Sarath. We could not recommend him enough. He is very knowledgeable about Cambodia as he has been driving around for 25 years for tourists and NGOs. This was a great little place to stay. The couple who own it are lovely. It is a little bit out of town (not far at all) and there are plenty of kind tuk tuk drivers who are willing to take you anywhere you'd like. The rooms here were spacious and clean, the air conditioning was a blessing as we visited during the heat of the end of the dry season. The owners catered to our every need. Breakfast was lovely local Cambodian cuisine or you could choose more European style of you prefer. There are also cafes and restaurants in walking distance around the lake which had very nice food too. I was upgraded to two king size beds just for myself since I was the only guest that day (bright sides of traveling in low season). What not to love about it?!||It felt like a wonderful countryside retreat with a large garden, a bit out of town's hassle.||I want to mention Sin Sopheap as an exceptional staff member. He adds value to this lodge by his dedication as well as just very nice personality.||I also loved the cat that came in now and then to check out geckos behind the paintings.||They cook amazing khmer fish amok.||||I'd choose a room with air con next time.
