Hotel Vallee Des Princes, Douala — Hotel in Communauté urbaine de Douala

I find that this hotel compared to all the others in Douala is the Best!! The Security, Cleanliness, Hospitality, Comfort and Price. I traveled around the world and would rate this hotel on a standard of a four star for Douala. I went to all the other hotels around in the area, and of course I inspected the rooms before I decided where I am going to stay. I check for the size of the room, I find that you get more room if you get separate beds, also the bathroom for cleanliness, the bed for comfort and of course the linen check for cotton balls, which I cannot stand on my sheets and refused to sleep on. The linen wasn't great but I did have some soft ones, but I always carry my own just in case!! The Akwa Hotel and the Planet Hotel were nice but the location and the security had me concerned. The Lemeriden Hotel I read had bad reviews, so I didn't have them on my list! The Vallees Des Princes Hotel is totally enclosed with a high wall and fence with a guarded post security gate entrance! The best 24/7!!!!! They have a restaurant on the grounds steps away from the front entrance! Food and room service were great!! The bed was very nice and comfortable not hard at all and they also had a few english speaking TV channels which was very nice to have in a French speaking environment!! I reviewed all hotels before I went on my trip, but don't recall viewing this hotel. This hotel should be on the top of the TripAdvisor's list. Also there were not prostitutes in or around this hotel, it is gated and they don't let just anyone in the gate! So I'm surprised to here someone mentioned this in their review. To me this is an upscale hotel and I was there for a week. You will be able to see and base your opinion by my photos that I have taken during my stay. Very nice and friendly place to stay. Also as far as leaving you luggage in the room! I had no problem with anything being taken and did not lock up my luggage. During my final day I was aloud to leave my luggage in a secured room after my checkout and pickup my luggage later with no extra charge!! In my opinion the staff are decent and honest people, but use your own descrection when it comes to your money!||This is my advice to the hotel!! The Toilet needs to face the door!! the Toilet tissue holder needs to be higher or moved to the side!! Put up shower curtains to prevent water damage!! I have stayed at this hotel twice when visiting Douala. My first stay was in 2004 and they told me they regret the pool is not yet ready for use. On booking again in 2014, they also apologised that the pool was not ready for use. This hotel has the feel of an independent that wants to be an international chain. The attempt to offer all services. However, they failed to collect me from the airport as requested, cannot accept all bank cards and services such as the hotel bar and wifi occasionally fail to work. ||However I am fond of this hotel, it has a very modern and clean look, in a city with the level of urban decay we see in Douala, this must take some effort. I have a special and personal story with this hotel. it is the hotel where for an entire day I spent the time with senior managers and Directors of the company which then employs me for the next 9 years. So it is an hotel I have seen being bult in front of my eyes in the town where I spent most of the time in my life. Before changing role end of last year I was brought back again for interviews. it is an hotel I will recommend for conference booking, for development human ressources center.
