Booked a Pet Friendly room for a 4 night stay. Provided with a "condo" room on the main floor which was ideal. The Resort is VERY pet friendly and accommodating with our pet being greeted with treats and a toy (they also provided a pet bed and feeding dishes)....there IS a fee for pets, but it's one of the most modest fee we've ever paid.
The Resort is actively renovating the rooms.....the "pet friendly" room is quite dated, but clearly not meant for staying in (it's a ski resort, after all). The room was divided so that it could be shared by 2 couples (a separate bedroom plus a fold-out couch/bed). There is an available woodburning fireplace (which would be awesome after a day of skiing....unknown is the cost of wood)......there is ash disposal units near the bear-proof garbage cans, but how ashes are moved from the room to outside is a mystery.
Bathroom is a little tight, but appropriate for one couple. Terrible water pressure if you like long hot showers, but a BIG, DEEP tub if you would like to soak (no jets, however).
Kitchen is a bit small but equipped and functional with a full sized fridge and stove (we noticed a LOT of people were bringing in their own foods to cook...and understandably so).
About cooking, there are gas Barbecues near the parking lot with 3 barbecues.....one of which didn't ignite. They are quite poorly maintained, being heavily grease laden and filthy grills (one whole rating star lost on that issue). Not entirely the Resort's fault; of the people I saw using the grills, no one post-burned after cooking, and there was no equipment to clean the grill (except for a grill brush with no bristles remaining).....the Resort really needs to come up with a proper maintenance plan for these.
Can't speak to many of the amenities because they were not used. That said, the on-site restaurant is decent with prices consistent with everywhere else in the Town of Banff. Pizza is not recommended.
There is a gym on-site which appears in good repair and equipped, except for the treadmill which was not in operation. There is a decent pool and hot-tub....a FAVORITE of children at the Resort, so if you're expecting a quiet couple of laps in the pool, time your visit accordingly. (a schedule for adult-only times would be an excellent idea). An odd inclusion to the amenities was two squash courts🤷♂️.
Regarding children, The Resort should consider main floor accommodations for parents with children under 10.....while the incessant jumping from furniture to floor and running to and fro above us at all hours of the day and night is more of a parenting issue, the excessive noise can be mitigated rather easily.
There is a well equipped laundry room with a ½ dozen machines. They are conventional machines so don't expect to wash sleeping bags or blankets. They ARE coin operated but none take toonies. The front desk does supply change but clearly do not understand the laundry machines don't accept toonies, and are hesitant to provide quarters and loonies......a suggestion would be to install a change machine in the laundry room or have an adequate supply of change at the front desk. Alternatively, patrons can try to swap bills for change in the soda machine...but it requires a purchase to receive change in return.
From a technology point-of-view, the wifi inside the room was far worse than outside...but was functional provided you're close enough to an outside wall/window. Televisions are 1st generation flat-screens complete with RCA-styled inputs in back. Unless you're coming with your own VHS player, you'll have access to a host of cable TV stations (about 40 channels...½ of which were sports). While HDMI and Drive ports exist, there's no way to access the function through the supplied generic remote control.
Price: For the facilities, it is likely the most affordable and economical resort you could choose to stay in....reserving funds for outdoor activities.
Parking: Virtually all parking is in between buildings and is not assigned...but seems...

This resort truly embodies the charm and natural beauty that Banff is known for, offering a perfect balance of comfort, adventure, and relaxation. Nestled in the heart of Banff National Park, the resort offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain peaks and is just a short drive from the town of Banff. The location provides easy access to hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities, making it ideal for nature enthusiasts. This year, we stayed in a well-appointed two-bedroom suite, and it was just as delightful as the first time. The rooms are spacious, cozy, and equipped with modern amenities. From the full kitchen to the comfortable living area, everything is designed to make you feel right at home. The wood accents and large windows give the space a rustic, mountain lodge vibe, while still feeling contemporary. Each time we’ve stayed, we’ve found the accommodations to be impeccably clean and well-maintained. Rocky Mountain Resort offers a variety of amenities that enhance your stay. The outdoor hot tub was closed for maintenance and I was informed way ahead before our stay that it will be so and having an indoor hot pool as well did not feel that we missed anything. There’s also a well-equipped fitness center for those who want to stay active during their stay. The resort also provides excellent service, from the friendly front desk staff to the helpful concierge who can assist with booking local activities or guiding you on where to eat in town. The resort excels in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. On both visits, we’ve been greeted by friendly and accommodating staff members, eager to ensure our stay is as enjoyable as possible. It’s clear that the team is dedicated to offering exceptional service, whether it's offering recommendations or assisting with any special requests. Given the resort's prime location and the quality of accommodations, I believe Rocky Mountain Resort offers great value for the price. It’s a perfect place for both couples seeking a romantic getaway and families wanting a comfortable base while exploring Banff. Returning to Rocky Mountain Resort was an absolute pleasure, and we would not hesitate to book again in the future. The combination of spectacular location, comfortable accommodations, excellent amenities, and top-notch service make it a standout choice in Banff. Whether you're here for the first time or a repeat visitor like us, this resort continues to impress. If you’re planning a visit to Banff, Rocky Mountain Resort is the perfect...
Read moreWe had our wedding here this past June and it was lovely! We are so satisfied with the venue and so happy we found this place. We booked this venue sight unseen (only reviewed online) and it totally exceeded expectations. Vibes from the staff were exceptional.
During planning, we were provided detailed lists to choose from (meals, schedule, etc). Our coordinator changed hands a few times but it was always a smooth transition. They were responsive and followed up on open items.
The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and took care of little things that I didn’t even think about (e.g. helping time our reception entrances, wedding board welcome sign, water service, and more). They were also accommodating for our vendors (Photo Booth, harpist, photographer). It was a smaller wedding (80 people) and we felt right at home. The outdoor ceremony was also so cute and we were able to decorate it with flowers as we wanted, and they included an arch! It was giving elevated cottage-core. We hired a harpist for music and it seemed to fit the aesthetic.
Another huge plus that we weren’t aware of was all the amenities for our guests. There are pickle ball courts, pool/ hot tub, basketball and gym. There’s also a nice outdoor patio with BBQ areas. Everyone had so much fun playing pickleball. We hosted a casual bbq for the rehearsal dinner (the area is FCFS but there was plenty of space for us). The area is also great to just hang out/ walk around/ enjoy the views.
Dance floor for the reception was a good size. People were dancing until closing time! Some people even went out to keep partying at the Dancing Sasquatch. The only regret is not choosing the later 1am/2am option! We rented a large light and a sound system from Calgary because we are picky (but venue has their own you can rent if preferred).
Food was also good. We had so many compliments from guests on the Prime Rib. For some reason I chose white rice as an option with no side accompaniement (wedding brain?) so don’t do what I did for that haha. Two bartenders for our wedding size (80 ppl) was also good and recommended. Dessert was also included in the buffet so getting additional cake isn’t totally necessary (we did and had a lot leftover lol).
We recommend you urge your guests to book their accommodations in advance (2-3 months at the latest). The more affordable rooms seemed to sell out closer to the date.
S/O to Kelly for the best lemon drop shots...
