Best Western Plus Peace River Hotel & Suites — Hotel in Alberta

Stayed at this property on business for several nights. I stayed in a King Suite w/ kitchenette. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. They were accommodating with an early check-in as well. The hotel location is excellent. There are restaurants within a minute or two walk and grocery stores less than a block away. The hotel is clean and modern. There isn't a family pool at this hotel but there is a spa and fitness center. I made use of the fitness center and found it to be below average for a hotel in this range. Lack of resistance training equipment and very small. The cardio equipment is high quality and in excellent shape. The Wi-Fi is average speed but consistent. Breakfast is included and I found it to be the standard, high sodium microwaved eggs and bacon. It lacked healthy choices such as oatmeal or fresh fruit.

The only issue I had was the inconsistent hot water availability. After calling the front desk about the issue I was informed the hot water heaters were being replaced and they would be down for a while. The staff resolved the issue quickly but this is information which needs to be made available at the time of booking or check-in.

I find it funny that this property is ranked among the top 5 in Peace River. Uhm... there are only 5 hotels! Stayed here 1 night while on business and I expected more, but perhaps that's my fault. A much friendlier welcome would have been nice after a 5 hour drive. Unfortunately, my room wasn't available due to a shortage a cleaning staff that day. What would have exceeded expectations is if the girl at the front desk (who checked me in) would have found me another room or room type. But instead, I had to leave and come back at 3pm. If rooms are available (which they were), the hotel was not sold out, give guests the option and find them another room or even upgrade them if their room is not ready. I loved this hotel and the rating is not about the building but it is a reflection of the people. Today I left my credit card in a gas station and it was reported and cancelled. I called this hotel as I had stayed there 6 to 8 nights since June 2019. Today I needed you to trust me. You had my name, you had my phone number yet you could not find me in your system (both were on the bill I had from you two nights earlier which I used to find your number to call you). The message was passed on in a call 20 minutes later - Management will not allow it without a credit card, you may want to check other places in town and see if they accept cash/debit.
