Castle mountain Chalets was the WORSE experience we've ever had in a hotel that charged us over 800+ for 2 nights. We had very loud neighbours (which is totally okay) but after 12 am....it went on until 4 am. We called room Service around 1-2 am but no response and then again at 3-4 am. They had left the tv on at full volume and although we don't mind loud noises - this kept waking us up. We were in town for Business and sorta a vacation - which meant we had to go hiking with individuals from work. (terrible experience to go hiking while barely getting any sleep). I knocked on the neighbours door but no answer...let me tell you anxiety falls on you because what if someone died inside the hotel room and turned on the tv really loud.... Perhaps this is the reason we started being off putted by the NON AIR CONDITIONED room, the massive amounts of BUGS in the room or the simple little things such as a HAIR DRYER not being present in the washroom. The kitchen although was super clean, we did notice some of the cups and plates having RESIDUE left over (perhaps it was soap marks left from the dishwasher or because of room service). Overall, the rooms do have an amazing washroom jacuzzi but the shower is TINY and you are barely able to spin around in it. The Wi-Fi is slow, barely function (so you're better off using your own mobile data). The lights are quite dim in the rooms and the balcony is quite tiny (if you lean back on your chair you might fall off lmao), and due to this no BBQ is on your balcony. Now, after all the negatives of the hotel. The staff was really amazing, kind and welcoming. No complaints about them. Their is a overpriced shop on the premises so you can get your drinks ...or get ice cream and the BBQ station seems to be open 24/7. This hotel is not worth the price, specially because you keep hearing train noises though-out the night and day (no sound proofing in rooms) but perhaps in the future they might change... Please do yourself a favour and stay at any other resort/hotel.

Great: perfect for Christmas weekend in the snow - truly white Christmas, postcard perfect cabin in the snow Good: jacuzzi- nice and hot, great after a long drive: fireplace - lovely to have in the below zero temperatures Disappointing: Water/pipe leak - Upon our arrival, we discovered a very wet kitchen floor and bathroom sink/counter. This was fixed the day after although the towels we used to wipe and absorb the water were never replaced. We also noticed water dripping from the kitchen light bulbs above the sink but couldn’t report it because after we noticed it, no one was no longer in the office the whole time we were there. So we used the light minimally to avoid electrical accidents. Cleanliness and comfort - pull out bed looked like it didn’t have clean sheets. Springs were bent so it was very uncomfortable to sleep on. We left a sign on the door on Xmas day to change our linen and towels but it was never done and we checked out after 4 nights without a single time that the cabin was cleaned! Wifi - for several nights, the connection was intermittent and on our last two nights, we had to use our own mobile data to watch some Netflix on our laptop. Payment - I had filled in the check-in form with a new credit card in front of staff and they kept charging my original card on file. This shows bad management as they had misplaced my check-in form and details. I had to call them, ask why they were charging my original card and give them my details so they could process payment. Lastly, warning to light sleepers - the train passes by several times throughout the night and early morning and always blows its horn. So since I’m a light sleeper, I never got a good nights sleep the whole time we were there. And don’t turn dishwasher on when you’re about to go to sleep. It’s just as noisy as the train! Overall impression: overpriced for the comfort and service we expected.

We absolutely loved our time at the Castle Mountain Chalets! Just finished our second stay and already can’t wait to go back. All the staff members that we have met so far have been incredibly kind and helpful, even giving us directions for some wonderful hikes in the area! My husband and I stayed in one of the one-bedroom cabins and it truly feels like a home away from home - with the daily supply of firewood for a cozy evening fire, fully equipped kitchen and large fridge, lovely sitting area on the front porch, and soaps from a local company. One of the main reasons why we stayed here in the first place is that it’s pet friendly, as it was quite hard to find an available hotel that allows pets during the time of our first visit. A bed, water bowl, and a welcome treat was provided in the room as well! And I think that our pup, Juno, would also give a 10/10 review… she thoroughly enjoyed her daily cuddles and treats from the staff at the front desk! Lol Overall - the beautiful mountain scenery, rustic log cabins, and friendly people made for a delightful time that we are very excited to repeat!

Beautiful resort in a stunning nature surrounding with very cozy cabins, some of them more luxurious than others, but over all very appealing and well equipped with almost everything you might need during a 5 day stay. We gave it a 5 points despite some problems, because we loved our time there and we usually focus on the positive. But it has to be mentioned, that we had to move three times to different cabins due to organizational and technical issues. When we inquired for a booking in the 1 bed room deluxe, the cabin was still available for the entire stay and we thought they hold the room until the next morning, until we were able to confirm the exact dates and pay the deposit. When completing the booking the next morning we learned that we will have to move for the last night. Not dramatic, but inconvenient. A little more customer orientation would have been appreciated here. Its not that we wanted to wait for a week to confirm, only a few hours over night. The main reason we chose the cabin category was the fire place. When we started the fire place in the early evening of our arriving day it only took minutes and the cabin was full of smoke, the fire alarm went off and did not stop for the next 30 min. The dog went crazy, we were seriously annoyed. There was a problem with the chimney pipe. We had to extinguish the fire, open all windows and doors at - 18 C for almost 2 hours to get back somehow acceptable air quality. The manager did apologize and tried her best to help us and she also offered us to move us to a another cabin. We were tired from our 8 h drive and wanted to stay in that cabin. We were not in the mood of moving all the luggage and food that already has been organized in the closets, kitchen etc. (we already started cooking). That was our decision. But we told her that we want to talk and find a solution the next morning. Of course the evening was rather cold after the cabin was "ventilated" with arctic air for 2 hours, but at least the smoke was out. The next morning she gave us another cabin of the same category, promised us a discount for our stay and staff moved our luggage. When coming back to the house that night we found a personal letter and a bottle of wine as an apology. Thank you for that gesture, it was very much appreciated. But we did not start a new fire as we were scared we will have the same problem again. We then had to move again for the last night to a more tiny but very cute and cozy cabin due to the booking mix up. When we checked out we received the promised discount. The resort itself is amazing, there is a little store with basic things and a remarkable selection of wines and beers. Direct access to cross country ski tracks and winter hiking trails. Perfectly located between Banff and Lake Louise, you can reach both in only 20 min. Despite the spoilers with the booking process and the fire place issue we very much enjoyed our stay and plan to come back. We could hear the train, but it was much less dramatic than some reviews might suggest. To us it was even kind of romantic and did not bother us a bit. But the fire places should be taken care of, there was a lot of grease on the outside of all the fire places we saw, it suggests that we were not he first ones who had smoke coming into the house. Maybe check the draft and install glass doors for the fire place. Much safer anyways and the smoke stays where it belongs. Overall very positive 5 days if you are willing to focus on the positive. We honestly wished we could have stayed a...

My husband and I along with our two dogs recently visited this property December 15-18, 2022 staying in cabin #8. I expressed my concerns upon check out and was advised I would be contacted and receive a discount, but instead I was charged the full fee on my card and attempts to contact management since have been ignored. This is our fourth or fifth time staying there and we have always had a great experience in the past but it has been a few years since our last stay.

On the first night only we had our son with us which we had advised in advance would be the case. We arrived around 9pm on Thursday night and we're disappointed to find when we pulled out the sofa-bed it was covered in popcorn and long black hair. I do not think it was slept in, the hair and popcorn could have fallen down from the couch or maybe it was pulled out and sat on I'm not sure, but it was enough to be sure the sofa-bed had not been pulled out by housekeeping as it was a significant amount.

When we first arrived, I noticed my dogs interested in something under the dresser in the bedroom and discovered what appeared to be the remnants of french fries on the carpet underneath. I also had included our dogs in the booking, and even though I was charged $150 for their stay, nothing was provided for them as has been in the past. At an absolute minimum I would have expected a refund for this as it was not accommodated at all, I've paid for services not received, a scam.

The TV was damaged, we were able to get it working once we plugged it in but the left side of the screen appeared to be broken. I also found cobwebs in the bathroom, kitchen, and on the fireplace stones, and found soap scum on the bathtub that I cleaned myself.

My husband is highly immune compromised as he has Multiple Sclerosis so cleanliness is very important to us, especially during cold and flu season it is so important for guests like us to be able to feel confident their accommodations are safe and clean.

I received a link after my stay to complete a survey where I was specifically advised to contact the GM directly with any concerns by email. Even though I did so immediately I have had no reply and only have been spammed with multiple emails reminding me to please complete the survey. Needless to say I won't return to this property that stole $150 from me and has not the courtesy to respond. What a shame, it's a...

During my recent stay at this hotel, I had a mixed experience that balanced between some pleasant surprises and a few inconveniences. The staff were incredibly friendly when we checked in, setting a positive tone for the stay. I appreciated the large outdoor fire pit, which was fully stocked and ready for guests to use, as well as the gas grills that were available for outdoor cooking. The hotel also offers a small selection of groceries and alcohol in the main office, which was convenient. The detached cabins provided a nice sense of privacy and a charming, rustic atmosphere.

However, there were several drawbacks. The wifi was unreliable, with only the 5GHz network working, which could be an issue if your device doesn’t support it. Another significant issue was the lack of air conditioning, which wasn’t mentioned on their website, making the cabin uncomfortable on warmer days. Additionally, although the website states the cabins have electric stoves, ours had a gas stove, which caused the cabin to fill with the smell of gas every time we cooked. The hotel offers gasoline for sale on-site, but they were out of it for the first half of our stay, which was inconvenient given that the nearest gas station is 27 km away. Inside the cabin, there were very few available outlets, and none were conveniently located for charging devices. The close proximity to the highway and railroad tracks meant there was some noise, with trains passing by 1-2 times each night. While our cabin didn’t shake, as mentioned in another review, the noise could still be disruptive. Additionally, the microwave provided was not plugged in, and there wasn’t an outlet nearby, so we had to move it to use it. Finally, the lack of nightstands in the cabin was a minor inconvenience.

Overall, this hotel meets the basic expectations for a 3-star rating, but there are several areas where it could improve. If you’re prepared for some quirks and don’t mind the lack of AC or the occasional noise from passing trains, it offers a decent, rustic experience with a few...
