We arrived to a beautiful mountain setting with lovely gardens and a welcoming young lady at reception. We went to our motel room to find it dark, dingy, very small and quite dirty looking. Carpets need a good clean and the one and only stool to sit on was badly stained. There were holes in the very aged window coverings. |The room was very small, no place to put anything. There was a desk in a corner with a lamp and coffee maker on it. Very little room to put anything else. We’d planned to stay 2 nights but…….|I went to request another room but was told there were none available. I asked for a toaster which was delivered to the room. Its cord was so short we couldn’t plug it in anywhere except if we put it on the floor or the toilet. Yuk to both. |The shower water was hotter than the we could get the water in the coffee maker….. The bathroom was tiny, the shower head sprayed everywhere except where you wanted it and it was not adjustable. The bathroom too small to dry yourself in. |We decided one night would be plenty here so went to reception to speak to them about this. We’d booked through Booking.com. Were told if we contacted Booking.com by six PM we should get a refund for the second night. We did but no refund and very poor response from this company. |We did dine in the restaurant (no other choice) and it was lovely. Couldn’t complain. Service from a lovely Australian woman was great. |We left early the next day. On dropping the keys off at reception to the gentleman there, he barely acknowledged me. I’m gathering he may have been the owner. |Would I recommend a motel room at this place-no way. Very disappointed. |And I’d like to say, it is very difficult to contact this company. I do understand the poor communications in the mountains but there is no email address, although I found one on their Facebook page in a post and my email bounced back to me. I did a DM through messenger but this was not responded to so they’ve every chance to respond to me before I...
Read moreRecently spent a weekend here with friends. We booked three rooms in the 'U' shaped block halfway between the restaurant and the hot springs. Lovely property which is very well kept. The rooms are very rustic but well appointed and ours had a very comfortable bed. Our room also had a kitchenette with fridge, gas stove and sink. The buildings are very old, but have been well taken care of. No AC, but the windows open for some airflow. The room had a small heating unit which worked well during the cool nights. Lots of hot water available, but it takes a long time so be patient. No cell service is available at all. They do have Starlink Internet on the property and WiFi in the rooms. WiFi works well in the main building and restaurant, but didn't work very well in our room (weak signal and frequent disconnects). We didn't go there to spend time on our phones, but having reliable Internet is nice for checking in with people at home and reading the news at bedtime. There is no cell service at all so wireless Internet is the only way to communicate with the outside world. For that reason, they need to improve the WiFi signal strength and reliability. The small restaurant has good food, but the service was very slow. Wait staff were pleasant, but not particularly attentive.
If you want a place that is a little bit off the beaten path, close to nature and very quiet at night, this is a good spot. Lots of families just enjoying the peace and quiet of the mountains. The hot pools and a few different hiking trails are only a 2 minute walk. Lots of wildlife around so be aware of your surroundings. A mother bear and two cubs were wandering around when we were there. Bring bear spray if you go hiking in this area. Roughly a one hour drive to Jasper or Hinton for other restaurant options or activities. All in all, I would recommend this place and we'll...
Read moreI've rated the room a 2. Stayed end of September early October. Party of 4 stayed in the apartment style building. One star was earned for the kitchen. Good sized gas stove, apartment sized fridge, kitchen island with bar stools. The kitchen was also fully equipped with small appliances (Coffee maker, toaster, microwave) Full set of glassware for 6 people. Big plate Small plate Water glass Tea cup 1 Strainer 1 salad bowl 1 Pot 2 Pans Cutting board.
The sleeping accommodations are below the average trucker motel.
Only 2 double beds in 1 room. (One comforter had 2 large white stains)
1 pull out couch in the "livingroom". The couch has to be late 80's and has been sat on and slept on since then. The mattress of the pull out is smaller than a pizza crust. Also very very yellow (could see it was white once)
The apartments are rented for around $360 a night. Not joking. Its a money trap only because of the location.
Next time I'm in the area I'm going to check out the resort at the bottom of the road see if that place has been updated at least once since 1980.
TIP: I recommend bringing your own fabrics, maybe a mattress cushion and be prepared if your traveling with family or friends you'll be sleeping next to eachother a little more than a...
