Spent 4 days at Rock Lake section B site 122. Lets understand something here folks. If youre going to a "car camping" site, expect there to be ZERO privacy. If you want solitude in the woods, then maybe you should explore the back country. As a seasoned car and back country/crown camper, I went to Rock Lake with the sole purpose of having a nice sunny weekend with my kids and crushing the Old Rail Trail. And the lakeside aspect was awesome. ||If it wasnt for staying on the water, I wouldnt stay in this campground, or any other "car camping" campground, as privacy is always an issue for me. But, the water front is great, mostly sandy, shallow; and the views are great. ||The comfort station (flush toilets in section B) were clean on the most part. Buggy, but again this is camping, right?! ||Water tap was clean, good pressure. ||Trails were well marked. ||Also hiked Booths Rock. Twice. 5k. Beautiful lookouts. ||As for car camping (site 122 is the smallest site in the section) the waterfront was very nice and had a nice lookout over the lake. ||Never had an issue with wardens, we played music, and my kids rode bikes around the campground freely. ||Would I stay there again? Probably. It wasnt super busy, the lake is nice, and the rail trail (and lots of other Algonquin trails) are great. ||Again people, if you want privacy why dont you go into the backcountry?? ||Oh thats right bc of bugs and bears, zero amenities, and thunderboxes. So, if you cant deal with that, then suck it up and car camp and enjoy nature. And if the privacy is an issue you cant get around, then look elsewhere to camp. Ontario is full of parks with optimal levels of privacy at the car camping sites. Expand your horizons and drive a little farther....

We stayed at this campground over the long weekend. At first we were worried about the lack of privacy and how close together the sites were. This was the least of our concerns. On our first night I was sitting by the fire by myself with music very low in the background. I had a park warden (power trip rent a cop) come and tell me to turn the music off although you could not even hear the music past our site which was very quiet considering how close sites are. This was just the tip of the iceberg...||The second night, friends showed up to stay at the next site to us with their three children. At 9:30 pm all our kids were riding their bikes and again... the warden came over and told us our kids had to be quiet. This was starting to ruin our family's weekend family trip. Kids were not being loud, just riding bikes and having fun. So we stop the kids fun and send them to bed for us 2 couples to sit by the fire. Nearing 11:00 after sitting around the fire we look into the trees, seeing legs in the woods moving. Believing it's just paranoia we go to investigate to find this rent a cop hiding in the bush's listening to our conversations and watching us. At this point we confront her and are now told we're harassing her... this was the worst campsite I've ever been to and will never go back. We spoke to the neighbours around us the next morning and nobody had heard us at all or complained. It was simply a moron ranger who wants to play cop hiding in the bush's watching people to make sure they don't have fun. Only complaint we heard was about the bit#* wardens car alarm going off while telling us we were being too loud waking up the whole campsite as they couldn't find the keys to...

We have now camped with a small trailer at Rock Lake four times, each being at least 6 days. We always book 5 months to the day in advance to get our favorite site (#60 or #61). Yes it is true there is zero privacy, but the view is worth it.||We did not use the proper swim beach but use the area right infront of our site with no problems. Water is clear and clean.||We never had a problem with rangers, which drive by many times during the day and night, actually they usually smile and wave and from time to time stop and chat with us. Now we are not partiers nor heavy drinkers. In my mind, if your out to be loud and roudy or drunk, why go to a campground in the wilderness? I'm sure there are alot of "Party" campgrounds around that allow that. But for us and many others we meet, they want the peace and tranquility of nature.||We have always found the campground to be clean and washrooms acceptable. Its not a hotel, its a campground after all.||The lake itself is wonderful for a paddle, the wind can get up but never that bad you could not paddle home. The fishing is well, its not the greatest. Way too many fisherman keeping all they catch.||The road in off of highway 60 can be alittle rattling as it is gravel. Some of the wash board will really rattle your vehicle. This year when we went they just gratered the road and did a poor job as it was washboard from side to side the full 7 km. Very hard on the vehicles, but we were told the grater or operator was not working right and it would be re-grated the next week.||All in all a great place to relax, yes it can get busy with loud children or partiers, but never bad enough to want to complain. I would recomend it and...

Rock Lake is not an ideal campground. It is very densely populated with a fair mix of trailer campers and some simple car campers. The sites are not very private or well segregated from each other. I only recommend this campground for larger parties of 8+ people.

I love this park for so many reasons. I saw my first moose there last week on the old rail biking trail. I was biking on the track just past the lake and I saw a beautiful moose. It seemed to be young. So many beautiful views in this area of the park.

Friendly and efficient service. The campground is great. Stayed at a site with electricity. The beach and playground are great. Kids are specially happy here. The abandoned railway bicycle trail is amazing. Great place to visit!
