Beautiful area, on a beach, near a walking trail, in the middle of Algonquin park. Tons of wildlife - we woke up to birdsong every morning. The walking trail was phenomenal, like something out of a fairytale. It was adjacent to the dog beach.

Site selection is important - we booked late, and ended up with a not very private campsite (for tenting). There are plenty of private sites. The size of the site was good - good layout, lots of trees, large flat area with picnic bench and fire pit. Power hookups were on site; water tap is shared with several adjacent units. We saw some park rangers walking around a few times, chatting with campers.

Very nice (clean, private, good size) showers with hot water! We were not expecting that. Cleaned daily. Has laundry facilities. Comfort station washrooms were nice as well.

Several companies will deliver canoes/kayaks directly to the campground to use nearby. On site rental NOT available - you need to arrange ahead of time with the third party outfitters.

Again, there is wildlife around - while this is not rough camping by an means, there is a big difference between this kind of camping and the camping in sites closer to cities.

Cons: water is NOT potable (including in the bathroom/comfort station), so bring lots of bottled water and a kettle. Vault toilets are around the campground for easier access, as the comfort station is a bit of a walk for most campsites. No dishwashing area anywhere - need to dump dishwater into vault toilet to mitigate bear and racoon activity. Mosquito and fly activity was moderate - definitely manageable with some candles and DEET bug spray, but way less activity than Rondeau and Pelee. Expect a lot of RVs. It was fairly loud until midnight with people outside talking (lots of large groups, but not rowdy), but thankfully no music or hollering. The place is dead quiet (aside from us) until 9 AM, great for sleeping in (and I want to apologize to my neighbours - my family is used to getting up at 6, and the kids could be contained in their tent until no later than 7:30).

Overall: great location, definitely will camp here again (hopefully no rain!) for a...

4 of us stayed at site 115 which has a great view of the water. The small beach is across from the site. Lots of other reviews mentioned the 8km dirt road off highway 60 leading to the campground entrance as being really bad but it was in decent shape during our visit, my sedan had no issues during that drive.

Pros: Rock lake is beautiful It's in Algonquin park (you are surrounded by nature's beauty). family & pet friendly other campers here were nice and friendly nice beach for enjoying the water. Beach is shallow for a good distance (safe for those who can't swim) up to 20 HP boat motors allowed on the lake but we mostly saw canoes and kayaks. booth rock trail is fantastic and worth doing but be prepared: it can be very muddy fairly clean toilets, regularly cleaned and stocked. comfort station available sometimes you can get cell phone service near the office / bins.

Things that can be better: Sites are very close to each other (closer than I thought they'd be and closer than I've seen at other campgrounds I've been to). You can hear your neighbors snoring in their tents. This lack of distance from others and lack of privacy was really the only negative for our group. Seems like they forcefully put that many sites in such a small space.

one way roads leading to the campsites were narrow and strangely there were cars coming and going late at night.

Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed the park as there is lots to do. It's definitely worth a visit....

This is my first time camping In Algonquin Park. We will stay for 4 nights therefore we decide to try 2 campgrounds, each campground for 2 nights. As we want to see the dawn fog hence we pick a campsite with a lake view. The campsite #99 that we picked is pretty good. The site has a great depth hence good privacy from the driveway. We don’t have a wide lake view when sitting on the picnic table, but if I put my camp chair next to the water, then the view is super good. It is so chill to enjoy coffee in front of the lake! Rock lake campground only has one comfort station, which means you have to drive to the station for shower. But there are washrooms within short walking distance from my site. Some sites have very good lake view but poor privacy hence pick the campsite according to your preference. The campsite is closed to Booth’s Rock trail, we can go to Booth’s Tock trail without driving! While other hikers might have to arrive the trail entrance early in the morning in order to get a parking spot! One reminder is : This campsite doesn’t have mobile network therefore check and send your message along hwy60 before you...

During the extended weekend, I lodged in Algonquin for a couple of nights. Here, I've outlined its pros and cons: Advantages: The scenic vistas along the route and at the lakeside campsite are breathtaking. We were blessed with favorable weather throughout our stay. Disadvantages: The campsites are clustered closely together, offering little privacy. There's an abundance of sites crammed into a small area. Access to the campsite involves a lengthy journey down a dirt road. The area is plagued by swarms of black flies and regular flies. The camp staff neglected to replenish the soap, and the shower water tends to run a bit chilly. There's no access to phone or data services. I recommend renting a kayak and exploring the lake—it's immensely enjoyable and tranquil, especially amidst the morning mist. In conclusion, the drive to Algonquin, particularly from Hamilton, is quite lengthy, consuming a significant portion of time, especially on weekends. (We spent a total of 8 hours on the return journey to Hamilton.) Overall, it's a worthwhile experience for a one-time adventure.

We stayed in Algonquin Park for five days celebrating my daughter's birthday and had a wonderful time. The fire ban that lasted 2 nights didn't stop is from roasting marshmallows over the Coleman stove. On the way in, we got to see a Mama moose crossing the highway with her big baby! We shared our campground with red squirrels, curious starlings, and friendly chimpmunks. I helped a snapping turtle cross the highway, crossing guard style! We got to see ravens, fish making bubbles and heard a wolf howl! Our campsite was a very short walk to beautiful Rock Lake. The water at the beach was warm, shallow and clean. We didn't get to cliff jump but, I guess we have something to look forward to for next time. On our 4th day, I realized there was Giant Hogweed growing across from our site. We let the rangers know and I tagged some of them with the ribbons leftover from my daughter's piñata. It was my first time seeing one in real life! On our way out of Algonquin Park we got to watch a young moose along with other people who had pulled over to the side of the highway!
