In the beginning I was disappointed with this cabin as I've rented many other cabins that were much nicer, but after staying there for 4 days and nights it worked out ok. It was rented as a 5 bedroom but one of the bedrooms was downstairs in the basement and it was freezing and the owner asked us not to go down there if we didn't need to, but we needed the bedroom. Another bedroom was on the porch and it was very, very cold!!! The first night the owner and some friends had a party just outside of the cabin and we're loud, keeping all of us awake until 2 am. When we spoke to him about it in the morning he apologized and said it wouldn't happen again, that they only do that about once a month! So if you rent from him you're taking a chance that you might be there during that "once a month late night get together "!!! But again, he was very nice. The toilet stopped up but he came right away and fixed it. He has a small herd of buffalo and does "buffalo tours". The kids really enjoyed That! We made a small campfire outside the cabin and roasted hotdogs and made Smores which everyone enjoyed. We enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace. All in all it worked out fine for us, a group of 2 grandparents, 3 other adults, and 4 children. But I think I would look for another place if I ever go back because of the noisy party the first night and also they insisted on having access,ie, unlocked door, to the downstairs area so they could get their cleaning supplies and food. So there...

Airbnb Stay: This stay exceeded all expectations, it is 110% worth it. We got engaged a few days before our stay, and our time on the ranch added a magical touch to our trip. We stayed in the Sauna Cabin, which instantly felt like a home away from home. Even though we arrived late at night, it was easy to find the property. Being surrounded by nature (on a BUFFALO ranch!!!) was a unique experience allowing us to properly recharge. If you are on the fence about staying here, take the leap and book it - DO IT! The area is wonderful, serene and recharging. Chester Jr and the herd added an extra layer of charm to the experience.

Buffalo Tour: If you want to inquire more about the Buffalos and hear adventurous stories, the Buffalo Tours is a must! You will not be disappointed, you will leave knowing more about the owner but also the Buffalo herd and its history. You might also learn how to do a bow drill fire!!!! If you enjoy the tour and want to keep a memory that will ignite your adventurous side and make you feel like you are sitting at a camp fire with Leo sharing his stories, I suggest you snag a copy...

I stopped in for a tour the day before I left to come back to Saskatchewan. I was looking for something magical… Something that would stand out on my trip to Golden. I felt very drawn to this, and it was completely magical! If your in Golden in the Summer months to early fall stop here and get a tour! Leo is fantastic and I won’t forget the stories and details of the Buffalo that he shared. Leo is a beautiful soul and the experience you have if you choose to take it all in will feel like you just arrived even though a few hours have passed. I felt like hugging him! Completely warm experience. Thankyou Leo your awesome & so much love to you!! If I’m in Golden in the future I’m coming back to stay in one of the...

Wow!! What a tour! Leo is the best. He took the time to explain all about the buffalo's and other animals he's worked with. He is very friendly and patient. You can truly tell he loves all the animals on the ranch. The Buffalo's are majestic and they get close to the fence so you get a pretty good look at them, about 5 feet away. Leo gets in with them which is wild! I highly recommend this tour, the price is not expensive and it will be worth it. Next time I'm in this area I'm definitely staying on the ranch. My entire family cannot stop talking about it.

We lucked out and scored a last-minute booking to avoid tenting in the rain. The Bunkhouse (the most rustic cabin on the ranch) proved to be a great alternative with a surprisingly comfortable bed and layers upon layers of blankets perfect for snuggling to stave off the chill of a sudden cold snap at the onset of autumn. While the open-air setup and lack of conventional toilets or running water could be a tad “too primitive” for some, it has the potential to be a great stay for anyone willing to give up a few creature comforts for a unique experience.
