There is no camp registration site so do not waste time looking for station. You just settle down on your reserved site they will come by to check you in. When I visited yesterday they were sold out of firewoods and we had to drive out 20 mins to find firewoods. (Little tip is that before you reach town of Harrison Hot springs there is a guy who sells firewood in his yard. Good quality wood, price is very reasonable. He either sells small bag for $5 or $20 for trolly-full but no bag. We just had to load them in the trunk so it can get a bit messy but bring something to wrap them up so your car doesn't get messy. You get about 25-30 individual logs from it which is very reasonable) There is no reception for your phone which was nice. Really peaceful. The only downside for this campsite was that there is no proper bathroom and no shower. There are pit toilets but no sink to wash your hands so make sure to bring lots of hand sanitizer. Since it is located in the mountain it does get pretty cold at night so if you are staying in a tent make sure you bring thick sleeping bags or something to keep...
Read moreGot here in July 15th, be aware that there are hundreds of thousands of mosquitoes! They are like “black tornado” attacks you!!! We all have like 50+ bites on our bodies all the time! It’s impossible to stay here without enough protection! I got itchy bites that I cannot sleep well in the night even I have been fully equipped (mosquito shirt, spray and light!)
We stayed in 62 and our neighbor in 58/59 double site left earlier because of the mosquitoes. I don’t know if it is mainly because of weather, timing or mainly because of the environment of this campsite! I have been staying in many other places that also beside a lake but NEVER experienced this! Noticed the hicks lake does not have perfect water quality tho!!
Besides the mosquitoes it’s all average level but I have to give it a no go because of the...
Read moreThere are amazing campgrounds in BC, with beautiful views, lakes, and attractions which are clean and family friendly.
And there there is Bench Campground. Just spots to put a tent in the middle of a forest, and just that. No child playground. Not really safe for kids to roam around, as there is a non-marked dry creek with a 10m drop. More importantly, the most disgusting bathroom you'll ever see. Literally hundreds of flies living in the toilet, which by the way is already overfilling by early July. And you have to drive to the lake, and hope to find a parking spot.
Do yourself a favor a go to any other camping. British Columbia has plenty of beautiful spots to camp, most of them superior...
