My first time to camp at Jones Lake. We arrived Friday night and left Sunday morning. We experienced showers on Friday night and morning of Saturday. The view of the lake was fantastic! This is a free camp site by BC Hydro. No reservations and is on a first come first serve basis. There is no cell service and the roads are not paved. There's an outhouse. Depending on how you view these, could be a plus or minus. To me, it was a positive as I had time away from all the technology and being able to do a reset and just enjoy nature. Downside is inconsiderate people leaving their trash behind! If you go camping here, pls bring your garbage back with you and leave the place the same way or better than when...

9 KM of rugged forest service road will bring you there. Not recommended for your regular sedan. The lake is surrounded by breathtaking mountains and currently hundreds of wild flowers are blooming.

However, the beach areas are covered with garbage and human feces. Even junk items and large furniture were thrown in the ditch along the road. However, the cans, packIng material and the overnight camping leftovers along the beachfront were absolutely disgusting. Why would people who like spending time outdoors, leave their garbage or dump their junk items they brought to the mountain along the lake?

The picture shows just one of dozens of garbage...

We camped here in mid-September. The fires had just ended and it was the first day of the campsite reopening so we got lucky and basically had the entire lake to ourselves. Since all campsites were empty, we picked the best one near the lake and enjoyed the weekend peacefully.

2 things to be mindful of : a) You need a 4x4 to get up here. I took my Sedan and ended up having a damaged rim. b) The place has a massive garbage problem. If you walk/drive by the lake, it’s unfortunate how inconsiderate campers are, leaving their garbage all over the place. Please be respectful and take your garbage with you or dump it...
