Spaces are small for $32 a night , Despite saying they are dog friendly they definitely are not . The dog side of the beach isn’t a beach it’s surrounded by trees and not maintained at all compared to the regular side, it’s super swampy and gross compared to the regular beach and is about a few metres surrounded by trees and the water is dirty with TONS of mosquitoes. We tried to go to the other side since we saw someone else with a dog over there and within minutes we were told to move. The camping areas have no privacy and they patrol past you and slow down and make you feel watched especially if you have dogs they kinda end up monitoring you. We kept our dogs on leash the entire time and they still would do like a slow drive by to look in on us at our site to make sure. For $32 a night the spots are tiny and the staff running the area definitely makes u feel like they are just waiting to spot you doing anything they can reprimand and it feels so monitored and less like a nice private camping experience. We booked this site specifically for the beach and got here only to find out the dog side was basically non existent and it’s heavily enforced. So the dogs can omit swim between this small wooded area that was dirty. Definitely disappointed in the entire experience cause our dogs were very limited and we felt like there was a lack of privacy to enjoy our camping area with the amount of staff that do drive bys all day long. 2/10 lol. Too bad cause the beach would have been great to enjoy but we couldn’t enjoy it without leaving our dogs in the trailer which we didn’t do. So if you have dogs definitely don’t recommend this place . It’s not fun feeling like you have to police them while you’re supposed to be enjoying camping especially at $32 a night … Not...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend came by last year on a road trip for the night. We let them know ahead of time we would be coming late and they said that's not a problem. We were there for just the night but my girlfriend loved it here and wanted to come back to spend more time here as we were heading to Texas Creek the next day. This year we decided to make the trip back and spend a few nights here. The same guy up front was still working here from last year and was just as helpful. They always have firewood and ice at a good price, especially with it being decent quality wood that keeps burning for longer than the stuff you get at a gas station. Showers are free with hot water. Only recommendation is a spot to wash the dishes (unless I missed it), but we brought a tub for that so it's not a big deal. Spent the two days/three nights here going up to Ainsworth and then down to Remac. Nelson is close by that has great places for breakfast. We already plan to come back a third time next...
Read moreBest camping in BC. Staffed all day and night, well behaved dogs and children welcome. It’s such a nice campground that everyone is in a great mood. Need to buy your own firewood, but it makes sense. Showers and bathrooms clean. Come during the Salmon run. A gas station and convenience store less than a minute by car or you can walk along the dog beach (a very pleasant off leash area with lots of sticks) in ten minutes. Reservations needed in the summer, but would pay the extra during the spring and fall; super easy to do online! Swimming and beach is nice; I don’t boat myself but a nice boat launch. The area has so much to do that you cannot fit everything into two weeks. Nelson has everything you need; groceries, auto repair (needed it one year!), laundromat and lovely local stores to explore. Weather is a little cooler than the Okanogan, which...
