If you want to party without any rangers bugging you, this is the campground for you.
I stayed at this campground from Sept 22-24, 2023. The washroom closest to our site had a non working hand dryer in the ladies washroom and no hot water at all. I brought this issue to the attention of a passing ranger and she seemed like she was stoned and had little concern for the issue, telling me that they know and it’s an ongoing issue, they tried to fix it but they couldn’t figure it out. Really? I would assume BC Parks has plumbers available, there were no signs informing of the water issue. This washroom also had a lot of graffiti scratched into the bathroom stall walls. The further away washroom that we had to walk to in the pouring rain had working hot water, but neither of the mens room showers had proper locking doors, i had to use a sock wedged in the door to keep it from swinging open. The shower stall had badly damaged wall tiles with large chunks of them chipped away and the shower head was also in a horrible state, with so much scaling built up on it that only a small part of it sprayed any water.
The rangers also did not stop by our site at all to welcome us or discuss the campsite rules, there was a lot of noise after 10pm quiet time and we also heard generators running outside of the restricted times with no enforcement.
Highway noise is terrible, lots of harleys and trucks driving by,...

The campground is fantastic. We had an absolute blast but do they ever have a problem with mice. My sister accidentally left her sunroof open for 1 night and the mice went nuts. Had to set traps to catch them and over a few days, they caught 6 in their car! They suck in their little bodies to squeeze into totes so if you leave anything out even in totes, the mice WILL get it. Make sure you leave everything in your cars, including dishes etc. as these little critters (deer mice) can carry Hantavirus: Exposure to Hantavirus can happen if you breathe in the virus from an infected rodent's urine, saliva, or droppings. Hantavirus is more common in rural or semi-rural areas, but any area with a pest problem is a potential hazard.
These mice crawled into our BBQs/stoves, all over our picnic tables, on our strollers, wagons, anything and everything... It was disgusting. They leave their droppings EVERYWHERE so we had to disinfect every time we wanted to use something.

Read moreMaple Bay Campground is a delightful spot for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, earning a solid 4-star rating from me. The campground's proximity to the lake offers stunning views and easy access to water activities, adding to its appeal. The facilities are well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience.
However, one drawback is the noise from the nearby highway, which can be quite disruptive, especially for those seeking a peaceful getaway. Some campsites are situated close to the highway, so if tranquility is a top priority, it's worth requesting a site further away from the road.
Despite this minor inconvenience, Maple Bay Campground offers a great camping experience overall. The beautiful surroundings, convenient amenities, and friendly atmosphere make it a fantastic choice for a weekend retreat or a longer stay. Just be prepared for some highway noise if you're staying in one of the sites...
