My partner and I did a two-week road trip around Vancouver Island for our honeymoon last month: we stayed in many amazing hotels, B & Bs, and even in a glamping tent - but Free Spirit Spheres is where we had the most memorable time, and it's the one place we've been telling all our friends about! I can't think of a more unique accommodation: everything about these beautiful spheres is designed and crafted by hand with so much love by the wonderful owners, Tom and Rosey. We spent the first hour simply exploring and admiring the sphere: no corner is wasted, every nook serves a purpose. The spheres feature electricity and heating, plus - a one-minute walk away - a kitchen, sauna, and a full private bathroom. And of course a comfy murphy bed! We loved the peace and serenity of the property, falling asleep and waking up in the trees - we still think back to it now that we're back in the city. Tom and Rosey's hospitality is outstanding, and we can't recommend staying with them enough. Tom was so kind to give us a tour of his workshop - what he has created here is absolutely impressive, there's simply nothing like it. Not surprised Free Spirit Spheres was featured in Lonely Planet's "50 Places To Stay To Blow Your Mind" book and in "Builders of the Pacific Coast!" We're planning to be back one day. Thank you for everything! :)

Beautiful and unique experience!

I wish I could give 10 stars for this place ! Simply the stand out highlight of our trip - which in fairness was built around our wish to stay here. This place is out of this world, a truly unique experience in a truly unique place hosted by two very special people Rosey & Tom who made us feel completely at home and for whom nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in Luna and Melody and had the place to ourselves as the other sphere was out of action. The place was easy to get to, probably took us a couple of hours from Victoria but we stopped to take photos pretty frequently. Great directions, easy to follow. The welcome snack ( understatement of the year!) was amazing - provided us with evening snacks and breakfast and more for the two days we were there. The actual place is stunning, wild Deer roaming around at leisure. The spheres are honestly the most beautiful and perfectly designed man made structures you could hope to find anywhere on earth!! It’s impossible to come close to describing them adequately and what it is like to stay in them. If you’re ever fortunate to be on the west coast of Canada, go to Vancouver island and book a stay at these eco-spheres. You will not be disappointed.

I owe so much to this hotel. My experience was very life changing. After staying in this hotel, my life changed for the better, for ever... Those sphere made me see the world for what it is...

When I arrived there, I just couldn't believe it. It was VERY clever 😀. They attract rich hippies tourists that want to live like poor people for a few days and pay the same price than a luxurious hotel. And Yes ladies and gentlemen... people actually PAY 450$ a night for a dry toilet, granola bar, muffins and a house in a tree similar to a military barrack.

They actually don't really enjoy the experience, what they REALLY ENJOY, is bragging about it on Facebook to make their girlfriend jealous "URmERGUD! YoU SlEep In a SphERe in A TrEe?!". Proof that you could sell ANYTHING, as long as you create a good marketing campaign, people will buy it, wathever it is...

This hotel is for planet-saver, "Daddy is rich", hippies, living downtown in a condo, order uber eat and Starbuck every day, seeking to experience the misery that reality can sometimes bring to others, a reality that could never reach them because of their rich parents giving they money all the time. So they pay to experience misery.

Yo, the owner, you're geniuses, really, you charge more than a fancy hotel and all you need to do is pumps the dry toilet, buy a few granola bar and muffins at the grocery store on sale for the room, choose name for each sphere 😆 (Good marketing) and clean the sphere after the hippies are gone. Hahaha you deserve the nobel price of marketing.

My deepest...

Pros: The intersection between engineering, design, and nature will blow your mind. Everything has been thought out, rounded out, and softened out. It’s an adult tree fort with adult comforts. Lighting is calming and cozy. The hydraulic bed in Luna is genius. Comfy and clean bedding. The welcome basket can feed an army. The sphere has electricity, heat, coffee maker, plates and cutlery, filtered water, cozy nooks, dining table and seating. It’s amazing how roomy it feels because the space is so well thought out and the windows are large. You will spend equal amounts of time marvelling at the inner and outer workings of your sphere. Rosie and Tom are also super friendly and passionate about this place. ||Super clean inside. No covid concerns at all. Your personal outhouse is not an outhouse but a compost toilet that doesn’t smell and is also super clean. The bath house is also super clean, heated, and comes with bathrobes. You get your own private bathroom assigned to your orb. I hesitate to use the word “glamping” because it reduces this place to something commercial, which it is not. But the comfort level you is what you would expect at a place with full hospitality. You’re not roughing it. ||The physical spot is magical and secluded. The pond is a giant pond in the centre with an island in the middle. We saw horses, deer, bunnies and a river otter around the property. Curl up in the nook with a book and stare out nature for hours....

This place is magical and enchanting. We loved our stay! My daughter has been looking forward to this trip since she read about the “hanging hotel” in Nat Geo Kids magazine 7 years ago! She was finally able to go as you have to be 16 years old and it was a dream come true for her. The spheres are incredible. So unique and actually quite luxurious and comfortable. We were surprised to find our sphere decorated for my daughters birthday and a piece of birthday cake with a candle waiting inside. So thoughtful and made the experience even more special. Every sphere is provided with a really nice basket of treats- cheese, crackers, pastries, etc. The bathrooms are separate from the spheres but it’s nice that you actually have your own private bathroom assigned to your tree house. The bathrooms are really nice and have hot water and heaters. The composting toilet beneath each sphere was convenient and colored pencils are provided so guests can leave a note on the walls. The property is gorgeous and peaceful. It feels very enchanted. There are little surprises everywhere you look such as tiny fairy gardens, painted inspirational rocks tucked away, sparkling twinkle lights. We saw a lot of wildlife, including a bear! But it ran away as soon as it saw us and heard a barking dog. The owner and builder is a very nice man!...
