We stayed at Manning Park Resort and had a really enjoyable and relaxing experience. We booked a room at the main lodge, which gave us convenient access to most of the resort’s amenities. The room was modest but comfortable, featuring two double beds, a desk, TV, microwave, and mini-fridge—perfect for keeping snacks and drinks handy or warming up quick meals. There was also an open closet for storing our things, and the bathroom was stocked with basic amenities like shampoo, conditioner, and soap.
While we were there, many of the popular scenic spots and outdoor trails were unfortunately closed, likely due to seasonal conditions or maintenance. But despite that, we were still able to enjoy our time because the resort has great indoor amenities. One of the highlights of the stay was the indoor pool area, which included a heated swimming pool, a hot tub, a sauna, and a small gym. It was a great space to relax after spending time outdoors, and it’s always a bonus to have these wellness options available right on-site.
Outdoors, the resort has a spacious grassy area ideal for outdoor games and family activities to play, toss a ball around, or just soak in the mountain air. There’s also a playground for younger kids, which was a hit with the little ones. Surrounded by nature and mountain views, the whole area feels peaceful and refreshing.
There’s also a bonfire area, which adds such a cozy, nostalgic touch to the evenings. You can roast marshmallows, make s’mores, or simply sit back and stargaze under the clear night sky. It’s the perfect way to end a day at the resort and adds a magical outdoor experience.
Inside the lodge, there's also an indoor games room, which became one of our favorite hangout spots. There are ping pong tables, pool tables, foosball, shuffleboard, giant Connect-4, and Jenga, making it a fun place for both kids and adults to unwind. It’s a great option for those chilly or rainy moments when you want to stay entertained indoors. The resort has an on-site restaurant for meals and a small convenience shop where you can pick up snacks, drinks, or basic necessities, which is very convenient if you’re staying for a few days and don’t want to leave the area.
One of the things we appreciated is that the resort offers a variety of accommodations. While we stayed in the lodge, they also have chalets and cabins available if you’re looking for more space or an upgraded, private experience—perfect for larger families, groups, or anyone wanting more of a cozy, home-like feel during their stay.
Overall, Manning Park Resort offers a great mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. It’s a family-friendly getaway spot with lots to do for both kids and adults, whether you're into outdoor adventures, relaxing by the hot tub, or playing games indoors. The combination of natural beauty, cozy amenities, and fun activities makes it a destination we’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful escape in...
Read moreWe booked this resort for the last night of our road trip and were really looking forward to it. We had requested a quiet room and when we checked in were told it was in a quiet area. Well, it was not. All the other guests in our wing were apparently there for a door slamming convention. All afternoon, evening, and even after quiet hours started (11pm), those doors SLAMMED and the noise reverberated through our suite. Even with a white noise machine and earplugs, it was disruptive. Granted, the resort couldn't predict that all the guests in our area would be so grossly inconsiderate, however the lodge could install closers on the doors, have a sign on the doors politely requesting that guests close the door quietly, maybe even mention it at check-in. Yeah, great that the resort has amenities, but what's the point if you can't get the one thing you actually NEED - SLEEP? We are checking out in two hours and are leaving exhausted. No much-needed nap yesterday afternoon, and not much sleep overnight. Too tired to explore this morning, sadly. We did love the room itself (mini suite) and the layout. We appreciated that staff accommodated an early check-in, provided decaf coffee upon request, changed out one of our pillows, and sent someone to extinguish an unattended smoking firepit in a high winds situation after we reported it. The pool was ok, although there was no staff/supervision, and there was a group of rowdy tweens making it feel unsafe for our young child. The dinner we ordered from the restaurant was decent, 4 out of 5 stars, although their statement that they were "unfortunately" still open for two hours didn't exactly make us feel welcome. The general store was a good place to get snacks, souvenirs and basic groceries. All in all, it's a nice resort, but if you're looking for somewhere quiet to recharge, this isn't it, or at least the lodge isn't. Also, our room was only somewhat clean - housekeeping could use improvement. Smudges on mirrors, and dirt and tiny rocks in the corners of the bathroom. We stepped on a previous guest's nail clipping in the main room. And, it's filthy under the bed skirts! I dropped a bookmark and saw the filth when I bent to pick it up. Dust bunnies and an old candy. (I took photos but don't know how to add them as an edit.) We had two dish cloths but no dish towel, so had to ask houekeeping for one (since we're expected to clean, dry and put away our dishes.) The beds were clean and comfortable though. I'd suggest putting a recycling bin in each suite. We set aside our paper and plastic products and beverage containers, but we're not sure if the resort...
Read moreMy sister and I stayed 2 sleepless nights in a queen room in the resort. We’re not fancy folks - we’ve slept hundreds of nights in tents and in very basic accommodations, but we didn’t sleep here. Manning Resort managed to fail basic expectations, being neither clean nor comfortable: Sagging, 19 year old mattresses (Dated 06/06/06) Uncomfortably lumpy, 8 year old pillows (Dated April 2017) Unwashed floors Filthy grout Broken mirror added to sense of carelessness No proper blankets in the room (just a thin blanket sandwiched between 2 sheets); when I asked for blankets at 3am, only 1 bed cover could be found. Toilet ran intermittently and made very loud whistling sounds at random Fuse blew on fridge, spoiling some of our food and creating a puddle on the floor Poorly maintained pool facilities - hair and pooling water all over change room floors, shower that throws water from deck into people in hot tub, cloudy hot tub water
Room cost ($250-$300/night) is absurd for this level of neglect. An additional $30/night pet fee is understandable in other places we’ve stayed based on cleaning and amenities, but here floors weren’t even washed, and there are no obvious pet-amenities or pet-related maintenance on site aside from standard garbage bins.
Staff were kind but limited in their capacity to make our stay more comfortable. Several other reviews have noted similar conditions. We were brought 2 more lumpy pillows, and 2 proper duvets after our first night. Apparently a maintenance person looked at our toilet. We were told that new mattresses have been on order for a couple of months; but this information did little to reassure us of Manning Park Resort’s customer care standards. We were refunded $100 of our $600 stay.
The location is great. As an outdoor ed teacher I’ve brought dozens of school children and families to Manning to enjoy winter camping, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing over the years. I’ve enjoyed hiking and downhill skiing...
