Just stayed here for the first and last time. Cost for a camp site big enough to accommodate a motor home was about $116 per night BUT access to the water slides and mini golf was an extra charge. However, the worst upsell was charging for a shower. $0.25 for two minutes and they only took quarters.
While this doesn't work out to be a lot of money, I find it ridiculous to charge $116 and then expect people to pay another $2 or $3 to have a frickin' shower. If this income is necessary to turn a profit, then you should just shut the doors now. Obviously this isn't the case because they've been open for 30 or 40 years and there were a lot of campers as well as people there just for the day throughout our stay.
They also don't have assigned spots so you choose once you get there. We were told that every site had full hookups but we saw a number of them where it didn't look like there were enough electrical or water hook ups to cover all the spots in a particular area.
Our water was leaking from their faucet all weekend as well. Plus, they told us there was still a fire ban so no campfires were allowed however, we witnessed multiple campsites where people had fires going. After 6 or 7 at night it was impossible to contact anyone with concerns.
Overall, the best thing I can say is the pool was nice - clean and there were lifeguards because there's a lot of kids but it also closed at 6. Definitely not very well run and charging extra to use the facilities when you're already paying $116 is simply a cash grab and insulting to...
Read moreGreat campground for kids. All the sites have water, electricity and sewers. Flat, easy to park sites that are mostly back in. The sites are not very big and there is almost no privacy but if you are coming here it is for the amenities. The main pool is very large and 9.5' deep. There is a 3' high diving board that everyone can use. You can do tricks and flips as long as you go forward. No back dives, etc allowed. The main pool and splash pad is free if you are camping here. The kids splash pad is one of the best I have ever seen at a campsite. The jungle gym and slides are massive and fairly new. The 3 main waterslides are great. You need to be 48" tall. My kids 10 and 12 went on them all day and never got bored. There is also lots of fields around with soccer and baseball and tennis court. I haven't seen much of the mini putt but it looked reasonable from the main road. The weekends are packed. Huge lines for the slides, etc but you can let your kids go and site back and relax on a picnic bench near the slides. Through the week isn't to crowded in the summer but there will be some kind of a line up. Great place for a few days of visiting or if you want to explore Toronto. Approximately 1hr in reasonable traffic from downtown or Canada's Wonderland. Do not come here if you want to get away from the crowds and prefer provincial park type camping. Your kids will...
Read moreThis place is fantastic. The diving board shoots you way up in the air, the splash pad has a huge tipping bucket and lots of great slides for 3-8 year olds, and the big slides are a lot of fun. I love how there is grass, shade and picnic tables everywhere, and unlike most water parks, byo picnic is encouraged. The snack bar has reasonably-priced snacks and treats, and i don't know what's up with their coffee. Either I needed it super bad or it was some or the best coffee I've had. There is a giant park, like as big as lake shore park, that my kids played at just as much as they did the slides and pools. There is lots of seating around the pools. The life guards are super friendly and mindful of the kids, but they also give them room to play and and have fun. There isn't a constant cacophony if whistle blasts. The staff are very friendly and the purchase ahead pass system makes getting in and set up quick and easy. Last and most key is you can tell this place is independent. They're not selling you brands and cartoon characters license shtick. Its an super awesome place to gather and play. Its affordable for families, and its really really fun. Id pick this over great wolf. That was the conversation we were having after spending an entire day here.
I love that my kids are growing up with a place like this in...
