Front desk staff are amazing, but that is where the good news ends.
The guest rooms, although nice .... are showing their age after what I assume were nice renos. The holes in walls from door handles banging against them, the obvious wear and tear from children's sports teams etc is very visible. The bathrooms look nice but are not practicle, standup shower with half glass wall is beautiful but made the floor soaking wet everytime with no way to stop it and became VERY slippery on tiles.
The restaurant is an absolute disaster for the price of the rooms ($150 for the night, you expect a nice place to eat). View from restaurant windows I'm sure would be beautiful however you couldn't tell from the extremely dirty windows and the obvious broken seals on the windows made it impossible to see, even sitting directly infront of them. The lighting .... sweet Jesus .... 1980's ceiling fans full of the brightest "Daylight" LED bulbs I have ever seen .... tje entire resturant is lit up brighter then a runway. So bright that you actually and literally feel uncomfortable sitting there looking around at all the other obviously uncomfortable people around you in that light. The food is out of this world .... not the good side of it. The most limited hotel menu I have seen in a long long time .... I travel about 200 days a year with work. Nachos were inedible, literally... soggy nacho chips with so much cold cheese you could not bare to eat. The stir fry had veggies that were hard as a rock, not even tried to cook them and noodles that were so over cooked, they were mush. The desert was ok, but for the price I could have bought it at Superstore as it was exactly the same at the grocery store.
Last but certainly not least .... all of the staff in housekeeping amd resturant take the parking spots closest to the doors not leabing them for guests, let alone guests that are elderly or habe mobility issues. There is only 2 handicap parking spots and eachnof the days of my stay, the housekeeping staff took all the spots close to the door and sat in their cars on their breaks and lunch and smoked while watching people that paid $150 a night and those that should have specialty parking just walk by them. Same goes for the resturant staff .... as soon as the housekeeping staff left, one by one the restaurant staff went out and moved their vehicles into tjose spots close to the hotel front doors.
I will say this, the beds are comfy and for the most part the rooms are nice, even with thw obvious wear and tear that needs to be addressed and the front desk staff make up for the short comings. I will stay here again but I will either order in food or go out and taste the restaurants in the area. Do not waste your time and money in the restaurant..... not worth it expecially simce you can't even enjoy the view which is the one thing they should be ablw to gwt right,...
Read moreI was not informed at check-in about there being no housekeeping during my 4 night stay. But the most negative part of my experience was that the water cooler in the gym never got replaced over all 5 days of my stay. EVERY SINGLE DAY I asked if someone could replace the water jug,, they all said that it would be changed when maintenance came in (for some reason the staff could not fathom doing it themselves) but it stayed empty and was never replaced from Monday to Friday. One front desk staff even said that they "usually don't provide water in the fitness center", at which point I asked why they would have a water cooler with replaceable jugs. Corner Brook is a major city in NL with a bounty of clean, fresh, water, but for some reason it could not be provided. Also the floor in the fitness center was filthy, not just old, but it looked like a team of workers just came through with their work boots on. I would not be comfortable doing stretches on the floor in there. Also, every USB port in the room was broken, the broken A/C had to be unplugged because it sounded like a road construction crew was coming through every time it kicked in, and the main lamp in the room had the switch broken off so it could not be used. Also, some sort of smart TV functionality could be nice in this day and age. There was also not a single recycling bin that could be found on the property, let alone the bedroom. This is unacceptable in one of the most beautiful landscapes that can be found in the world. It's sad to have to throw cans and bottles in the wastebin while visiting such a picturesque environment. And the parking lot would more than likelg cause damage to a commuter car due to the cavernous potholes around the lot. I'm normally not a...
Read moreIt was such a treat to stay at Quality Inn Corner Brook! We had planned on staying just one night but ended up extending our stay for three. We found the staff to be quite friendly, professional and attentive to our every need including providing toiletries that we neglected to pack. The Lobby is cosy and inviting with complimentary coffee and amble seating for relaxing and chatting. From the lobby you can access The Lookout Restaurant which boasts a fabulous view of the city. It has an affordable and tasty menu and is a popular spot for not only hotel guests but many locals.
We were very pleased with our clean spacious room with its comfy king-size bed, and modern decor. Quality Inn Corner Brook had all the amenities to make our stay comfortable: fridge, microwave, coffee bar, hair dryer, ironing board and iron. My favorite part of staying at this particular hotel is the magnificent view. It is truly relaxing at the end of the day to sit by the window on a comfortable loveseat with a glass of wine and admire the city lights. If choosing to stay at Quality In, consider booking a room on the 3rd floor with a view of the city. You won’t be...
