I recently booked a two-night stay at this RV park. I selected this park after reading about it in Bell's Travel Guide and a 2017 the MilePost. I'll start by saying both publications need to do more research - this place is a DUMP. Per the advertisement in Mile Post "RV Park, full hookups, 15/30/50 amps, WIFI, Spacious sites, Cable TV, Laundromat, RV/Car Wash". The sites are NOT spacious and the layout is insane. Depending on what site you get, you may have to run your water and electrical cord under your rig to connect. The sites are actually small - we had a trailer and a neighbor with a 24' pulled in beside us. He was so close, he couldn't walk between his rig and our picnic table. There is NO CABLE TV at any of the sites we inspected. The entire park looks like a dump - most of the sites are occupied by long term residents who have set up residency. Multiple vehicles, tool shed, trailers with gear, you name it. Lets talk showers - can't find anywhere that it states you have to pay $1 for a two minute shower. They offer plenty of free condoms plus an address if you're female and dealing with a STD. Lets talk WIFI, on the slip of paper provided with password on check in it states "the wifi is limited" and they mean it. It was totally useless for us to even use to check email. The impression we got was these folks were way pass the tourist season ending and simply wanted out of Dawson City. We were told we would have a great time here - had we not been tired from our drive, we would never have checked in. As is, we stayed one night and left early...
Read moreI want to first start by saying that the Filipina staff are lovely and kind, but I can’t say that the owner shares the same qualities. Within moments of our first stay he was abrasive and rude to my wife. And on our second stay he was condescending and rude to me. We left early because we did not feel very good about his demeanour and how we felt we had to tiptoe around his attitude and weird rules.
For a campground you can’t have a fire. And if you have pets you can’t tie them up on a lead, I think you’re expected to have them on a leash in your hand at all times. The campground itself is quite literally a rock quarry/gravel pit with some birch trees along the perimeter. Very dirty, very dusty, very direct sunlight at all hours of all days. No shade anywhere to be found. You can hear every vehicle drive by on the highway at all hours.
When we stayed in a room so that we could dress and shower for a funeral, the room was musty and our window looked onto garbage cans and a scaffold. Full price, while people were doing construction right out our room.
The common bathroom is appalling. Water covers every area of the floor so if you’re using the can prepare to have water covering your pants/shorts. No paper towels for patrons and no hand dryer. The toilet seats are from 1908 or they were pooped all over and then glazed. I honestly can’t tell.
I wouldn’t stay here again even for free. We found another place to stay that’s a lower price and of much higher quality. Do your research before you book your stay and make an...
Read moreI feel sorry for the staff that they have to work for a hard headed owner. The guy at this rv camp is super rude, and gets into fights, his mouth is super foul, something I'm not used to, and he actually assaults the customers, we have seen it first hand. He punched a guy in the face for no reason, I don't know if he is drunk or what but the guy shouldn't be around the public, maybe that's why he isn't around much, he scares off the customers. Talked to some locals about him and they say, he's a hot headed person and not very likable, so what we saw is, the way he always is I guess. There is another rv park right beside this one and they are good there, or there's another RV park in town. If you don't have to stay here I wouldn't. Honestly if we never seen what the owner was like, we would have still been staying here, we used to stay here for 13 years, but now after seeing this, we won't support someone who acts, this way. There are the other camp...
