We came here just to clean our vehicle and do laundry, but it turned out to be a frustrating and disappointing experience. First off, the pump staff barely spoke English, and communication was extremely difficult. The owner was rude.
There’s no coin machine anywhere on-site, so you’re expected to somehow just have exact coins. Very inconvenient.
The laundry facilities are a joke. Half the machines were out of order. My first load didn’t even dissolve the detergent capsule, and the second wouldn’t start at all because apparently hot water isn't even connected. Then my third load got stuck inside the machine. We had to stay overnight just to retrieve it the next day – completely throwing off our plans. The place closes at 8PM sharp, no staff on-site after hours, and no one answers the phone. If you think to have a shower when you arrive, no chance if you arrive late and don't have cash. One machine had a warning sign not to open it if it's locked, and to call assistance and pay if you break it. Clearly this is a known issue, yet it remains unfixed. Luckily, that load didn’t contain our bedding or we’d have been completely stranded.
As for the dryers, you’ll need to run two cycles just to get clothes semi-dry. The showers are “for registered guests only” – yet still cost $2 for five minutes. Why limit access and charge for them?
In the end, we had two wet loads, had to drive into town just to get more cash, and still couldn’t dry everything. Absolutely not worth the hassle.
Do yourself a favor: skip this place. Don’t stay here and definitely don’t attempt...
Read moreAfter bicycling across the Top of the World Highway, and down into Dawson City, I was looking for an inexpensive campground to rest my aching muscles. After checking nearby campgrounds, this site was the least expensive (always important to a cycle traveler) and also had showers and a laundry room. Both needed, as both my clothes and myself were very smelly!||||The hiker/biker camping section was a bit cramped (at some spots), but the hosts were accommodating when I requested to move away from a large group of campers to an open spot farther away. ||||The hiker/biker area has plenty of tress for shade, and for stringing up a tarp if needed. Each spot has it's own picnic table and plenty of space for any size of tent. It is also located conveniently to the showers and laundry. ||||The RV section looked to have adequate space and easy for any size RV to access. The check-in is located in the gas station next door, which also offers up a variety of foods & supplies that I needed to stock up on. The staff was very friendly and did a great job at provided a clean, safe area to camp.||||All in all, a perfect location with all the conveniences with Dawson City less than a mile...
Read moreWe had such a GREAT time here during the two weeks we waited for the part we needed to get our vehicle back on the road. Dawson City is VERY remote!
No matter which way tourists roll in from they are going to be dusty, and Dawson City RV Park & Campground is a great place to gas up, spray some of the dirt off vehicles, wash clothes in the clean laundry room, use clean restrooms, buy some supplies, use the full RV hookups or tent spots, and rest in a quiet place near a sweet creek with quaking aspen trees.
The campground is just 2 miles along the river from wonderful Dawson City which has quite a bit of fun and interesting things to do.
We got to know the staff at the park and they are excellent people. We were not the only ones with vehicle trouble and they were so helpful and understanding, kind and very informative. Felicia affirmed our faith in humanity as did Lago and everyone there.
Considering the number of rough riding adventurers and typical hapless tourists (like us) pass through it’s amazing they can still smile! But they do!
Dawson City is a great place to hang out. Don’t miss the view from the top...
