After a long drive to get to 3 pines lodge, we arrived, where looking forward to a good night's sleep and as we entered the lodge the disappointment started.... #1 The lodge is very dirty, dusty, smelly of a mix of usine, sweat, dog odor and who knows what else (made me feel so nauseated!). #2 we did not get the room we had reserved and paid for. #3 the hand soap in bathroom was empty, there were not enough towels for each of us available upon arrival. #4 there is no lock on the bedroom dorr. #5 No coffee maker, no microwave in bedroom as advertised. #6 the spare sheets for the pull out couch where rolled up in a ball on a shelf in the closet... when unrolling them to make the bed there was black hair balls in them (they were dirty), the blankets in the closet where dirty and stinky, so we had to drive all the way to a store in the next town to buy a blanket to sleep on as nothing clean was available. #7 the beds were so uncomfortable (felt like worn out mattresses found on curbside of the road, absolutely no support/no comfort at all) so none of us slept at night and got up in pain to find out... #8 There was no continental breakfast, no coffee, absolutely no food, no lights on in the dining/lobby area, no staff... only a few guests wandering and wondering where the breakfast and when it would be served? It never happen. no food, no drinks, absolutely NOTHING!!! but a stinking lobby! #9 Although I love pets, it was not pleasant to smell dogs, to hear dogs bark at night. #10 the hallway was filled with old worn mattresses standing upright against walls as well as other old/worn out furniture making it not so easy to access our room (safety hazard!) #11 there is no mosquito screen on all windows. The AC was so loud we had to turn it off and open the windows (good thing the air was fresh at night) but no mosquito screens.... #12 When we got up, flipped the bedding to get out of bed... noticed the bedding was full of dried out blood... the sheets, and conforter were dirty, we also noticed blood on some towels and the walls in the bedroom in the morning. We were to exhausted to inspect the night we arrived + it was not so bright in the room then.... We had reserved for 2 nights, but after our first night experience we decided to go home. There was no staff to talk to, we have called and emailed several times an never get a reply never pick up hte phone and they never call back. They charged us for 2 nights. ALso, we did try to cancel 4-5 days before our arrival day as we where assured we could safely cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours ahead... that was a lie, since we could not cancel we ended up going.... This experience was extremely dissapointing. it ruined our little vacation as we felt exhausted and in pain from the no sleep/no comfort all night, horrible service adn the staff was very rude and arrogant upon arrival. Absolutely no welcoming, no talking just traight handing us the keys and showing us the way to our room with no words.... we felt trapped, scammed, deceived by 5 stars reviews on their website. Also know that there is a large sign in their restaurant/lobby stating that they will serve you FREE ice cream in exchange of a 5 star review! So now I know why the great ratings on their website, but its impossible to write a review there unless they themselves give you access to it! It was out mistake to trust those reviews, to trust what was advertised on hteir website, but I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. Its a scam, its a dump, its a shame and they are very dishonest people! Our loss, but we've learned a lesson. Muskoka is a very beautiful area, but this experience makes me never want to go that way again.... sadly. So happy to be home...

Read moreWe stayed 2 nights at the 3 Pines Lodge for a wedding, with multiple family members staying there as well. First and foremost this is far from a boutique hotel, maybe at one time but now it is just run down and in need of a lot of work to bring it up to snuff.|| First the positives the beds were very comfortable so a good night sleep for 2 nights is great. The restaurant attached to the hotel was good my family loved the wings. The positive ends here.|| My credit card was charged before we even arrived for our stay which meant there was no way for the second party to pay for the room I had reserved for them, they had to pay me so I could pay my credit card. Upon inspection of our room the furniture was stained (not the bed as I said before the beds were great) the mirror had 2 little sticky hands prints which tells me either they have ghost children hanging about or just didn't clean the mirror. The wall to the bathroom had chunks of drywall that had been cut (as if to fix a leak) but not plastered and painted over, so everytime you came out of the bathroom you would have to pop them back in or they would fall on the floor. How can you rent out a room that needs work like this. | | The doors were old lock and key which didn't always lock plus the didn't have a peep hole for security reasons this should be upgraded. No curtains on the windows (just flimsy blinds), no coffee machine in the room and no staff around after hours. I realize this is a small town motel but this is also the height of tourist season and from what I can tell the hotel was full (I know this because most of the place was booked with my family and a few others from the wedding). So I guess to the owner being a host only goes from 9am to say 8ish after that you are on your own. Pray no emergencies arise. || My Aunt who stayed at the other end of the hotel had a seperate entrance with a deck that when I reached for the railing to steady myself the whole railing moved with me. Very dangerous if someone was depending on this for stability as there was none, it wasn't even attached to the deck anymore, the wood had rotted away. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen.|| I have stayed in many places with a continental breakfast and this was nothing but an open uncovered tray of pastries that were completely dried out. No juice, no yogurt or even some fresh fruit to start out your day just pastries drying out in the sun.|| Upon check out you place your room key on the front desk in a box, there is no one there to ask how your stay was or give you your bill. It took me weeks and multiple emails to finally get an invoice for the weekend and even then I only received 1 for my room when I in fact paid for 2 rooms. Organization is lacking here.|| So if you are JUST looking for a comfy bed so you can explore the cute town of Port Sydney then the location is great and within walking distance of the lake. But if you are looking for a quaint Muskoka Boutique hotel this is not the place. It has the potential but needs to put in the work to...
