Have been to this park almost every year since 1996. We have checked out many parks in Ontario and Arrowhead is by far our favourite vacation spot. The new cabins are geat! Well priced and has everything you need. It's lazy camping at its finest. The sites great as well and are well spaced, very bushy in the summer months, giving a lot of privacy. There are many trails to explore by either biking or walking, all ranging in different lengths and difficulty. You can rent bikes, canoes, kayaks, and up right paddle boards at a reasonable rate. Taking a canoe down the steam towards stubby falls quite relaxing. You can also portage down the falls and continue on around to Big ben and further, which I have never done but would like to someday. The lake it's self is very nice and is shaped like an Arrowhead hence the name of the park. Unfortunately there's not a lot of fishing as the fish have been mostly fished out of the lake. I did sone fishing there last year, and never got a bite. There are 3 beaches not including the dog beach on Arrowhead lake, Row, Lumpy and the Main beach, which is closer to East river. All of which are very clean. During the summer months there are lots of activities and things to do for the kids. They even bring in wild life specialists and have animal shows at the amphitheatre(used to anyways). During the winter months they have some of the best ski and skate trails in the province. I would definitely recommend this park anyone over any other. See ya...

In order to visit Arrowhead Provincial Park + Fire & Ice skating trail, you must book 5 days in advance at 7 am.
You must be on the Ontario Parks website at 6:50 am so that by the time the clock hits 7:00 am, you press book and you immediately proceed with payment. Tickets get sold out within the first 15 seconds after 7:00 am.
Visit Ontario Parks-Day Use-Select + Fire & Ice. If tickets get sold out for the evening Fire & Ice, you can still book the day use and skate the trail during the day.
We visited Arrowhead Provincial Park + Fire & Ice during an extreme weather alert. We were hoping to explore the area during the day then skate during the night.
We underestimated how cold it really was. Bring extra pairs of socks. Thermal socks, wool socks, foot warmers. Winter pants, ski suits, ski bibs.
The park officials were not strict with enforcement, however, I attribute that to the fact that because of the extreme cold temperature, no one wanted to go check the cars for permits. The park was not busy and there was no line up to enter the park as I read online that sometimes even if you have a pass, you could be turned back if the park reaches full capacity.
Great experience, very cold. Bundle...
Read moreWe planned a day’s trip here with two friends and absolutely loved it!
Recommend visitors to leave early in the day (we left at 6 from Toronto) to enjoy the trails and the park better, with much lesser crowd.
Activities include: hiking (they’ve a bunch of trails), camping (we only went for a day’s trip but saw tons of camps), beach, cycling, canooeing, rafting and more.
The scenery is so beautiful, green and serene. The beach was clean and beautiful.
We paid $21 for parking and entry for the day (booked and paid online in advance, a week ago) and an additional $40 for canooeing for 4 hours (for 2 hours I believe you pay half the price; payment for this was made in-person). There’s no booking available for canooeing, it’s first come first serve basis. There are no life guards, but they provide you with the jackets and the canoes and the paddles are in great condition too.
Didn’t see any eating places or options so it’s good to bring everything with you.
Overall, we had so much fun here. We left around 6/7 pm and noticed that the place was extremely crowded by late afternoon. Glad we came early and made the best...
