Updated Review… We went a second time, bringing along our daughter. Sadly the second visit we had was very disappointing. This visit was last year and while looking at where to go this year, I decided to leave my review now from my previous visit. The cottage we stayed in was nice however it was dirty. The beds in this cottage were extremely uncomfortable. The bbq was finicky. Their website boasts that they do a fire by the water every night. They did not have one going and so I asked if they could do it up. They did not do the fire by the water but instead took a metal garbage bin near the designated smoking area and had a fire going in that. We were expected to just stand around it. No chairs were provided and the view was of the parking lot and motel rooms. No reason for the fire to not have been by the water in the usual place as it wasn’t a windy day. Speaking of designated smoking area. When visiting the first time they had a gazebo with a table and chairs for you to sit under and enjoy your smoke. We enjoyed our cigars there the first time. Second visit there was no visible smoking area. They packed it all up. When we asked at the office we were told to go to the tree across the yard and stand under the stacked picnic tables at the tree. The picnic tables were propped up against a tree and we were advised to stand UNDER the picnic tables. There didn’t seem to be a concern for our safety of being under a pile of picnic tables. Not to mention we were expected to crouch under it and stand that way while having a smoke and keeping out of the elements. The resort with the water is beautiful but they seem to lack in quality when it comes to upkeep of their cottages, standing by their word of what they put on their website, and ensuring customers have a pleasant and comfortable stay. Not really a family resort either. Not a playground in sight. Sadly we have opted to not return to this resort this year and will be looking elsewhere for our family.
My husband and I stayed for two nights here in one of their cottages and we absolutely loved it. The lake being steps from our door was breathtaking, the whole resort was great. It is a small resort and for that I loved it as it meant less people around to take away from nature. It also helped that we were there during the off season. The nightly campfire was lovely. To hear the calls of the loon on the lake was priceless. The cottage we stayed in was nicely decorated. The one bed was uncomfortable for us but the bed in the second room was better….more firm. The beds have lots of pillows, dressers, mirrors and air purifiers which we found helpful when you are used to having the sound of a fan going all night to sleep. We could see that the cottages subfloors were in need of attention as some areas depressed when you stepped on them. The cottage overall was for the most part clean. The beds and sheets were clean, clean towels and kitchen, etc. The floor was sandy feeling and a simple sweeping fixed that for us. The shelf over the bathroom sink was in need of a wipe down when we got there and again, was simply taken care of by us. The kitchen is well equipped with pretty much everything you will need to cook a meal for yourself. The only issue I saw in the kitchen was that some of the utensils were put away dirty by whomever used the cottage previously. The resort has a policy of ensuring you clean any dishes you used to avoid additional charges. I suppose the previous guests thought it was good enough to just throw them in the utensil drawer as is after using them. The dirty cutlery wouldn’t have been noticed by resort owners unless they physically picked them up out of the drawer. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend this...
Read moreBeautiful sunsets over Lake Paudash for the Sept long weekend. We stayed 2 nights in a Lakeside with Kitchenette. Parking was right in front of our room which made unloading and loading super convenient. The room was as advertised, but we missed the note that the beds are only doubles, and not queens. We specifically picked a room with a kitchenette and it had everything we expected. However, the fridge was not that cold even at the highest setting. It was ok for our 2 nights. The portable AC unit was helpful but similar to the fridge, we didn’t find it adequately cooled the room. We also turned it off and opened the window but the location of our room didn’t provide that much of a breeze. The water was super warm and clear and pretty shallow, it was great for swimming but difficult if you have little kids as there’s not sandy area and the rocks are quite slippery. They supplied a variety of water crafts and life jackets to use. The field in the front was perfect for our pup, we brought a long line to keep him leashes while we played fetched. The view could not be any better and the location was super close to Bancroft and hiking trails. We will look at booking a cabin for our next stay.
Update Oct 8: we came back for a week in Oct and split our stay between a Kitchenette room and the Somerville Cabin as the Cabin was not available for the entire week. We preferred the layout of Lakeside with Kitchenette Rm 5 vs our previous Rm 9 as the layout felt bigger. All the lakeside rooms have parking right in front for easy load in/out. The Somerville Cabin is adorable and perfect for 2. It feels super private being set back a bit, however loading/unloading is a bit more work as the car doesn’t drive right up. However, private dock access, a cute deck with BBQ and tables is worth the extra work. The living room has a pull out couch to fit up to 2 people, but the double bed in the bedroom is not very comfy, I could feel the coils through the bed and the pillows were super thin. The views from the living room was gorgeous! We will definitely be booking a cabin again and maybe see if the pull out couch is more comfortable.
While they offer free wifi, it doesn’t reach the cabins or the lakeside rooms. If you’re looking to work from the resort, you’ll need to be in the main building to get a good...

I apologize for the inconvenience, or I'm sorry there weren't any prices posted||Not justification for it||Not that we should call to get prices||Not that even though our sign says OPEN, we close at night||We needed fresh towels, didn't know we needed to come and exchange||Sorry we are not from Bancroft, and have never stayed in a resort where they don't come and clean our room and change our towels||Especially for almost a thousand dollars for 3 nights where there's baseboard heating and the floor is uneven, and the water faucet creeks when opened and closed||Couldn't even see ourselves in the mirror cause of how much it fogged over while taking a shower||Not to mention how small the bathroom was, we couldn't move in there at all||||We are truly disappointed||Was going to write a google review if no one responded to my email, and what do you know.......no one responded and it's been almost a month! ||I think word of mouth is great, and I will tell everyone!||||All we wanted was $9.00||In the grand scheme of things.........that's better than us telling everyone about the stay.||||Oh well||||Thanks for reading||Hopefully this email will force you to change your "call us and find out" policy||I doubt...
