China Beach Campground is a beautiful and peaceful spot on Vancouver Island’s west coast. We come here almost every year because the forested campsites are well-spaced and quiet, with easy access to scenic hiking trails and a stunning beach just a short walk away. The beach is wide, clean, and great for relaxing or watching the waves roll in. This year, they’ve added four new showers, which is a great upgrade for campers. Overall, it’s a perfect base for exploring the Juan de Fuca area—great for hiking, beachcombing, or just enjoying nature.

The campsite was as clean as a summer park can be, and the park ranger was very kind. The sites are fairly close, but enough privacy was given by the trees. Noise wasn't bad, but it depends on the neighbors at the time. Mine were fine. The trail to the beach was far out (1.4 km), so I prefer French then I do China because my pets' hips are not as young as they used to be as with mine for that matter. It was just an overnight for me, but a nice peaceful getaway from the city. 🙂👍

Great BC campground. At this time, only pit toilets and water, but for most of us, that's all you need. All sites nice, back of sites 800 meter walk to Beach 2. Short drive to Jaun da fuca Trailhead. We did beach 2, and trailhead to Majestic Beach, and we did the drive to Port Renfrew to walk around Botanical Beach, saw Humpbacks passing by, and the pools at low tide. If west coast beaches your thing, this campground for you🌞

Our first time and this is cleanest campground we’ve been. The outhouses are well maintained, no smell. They have a flushing toilets and showers by the entrance, you need to pay for the shower $3 for 5 mins when we were there.

We enjoyed our 5 nights of stay in this campground. We checked out the neighbouring beaches along the JDF trail, you can drive to Botanical beach in Port Renfrew. The town of Sooke is nearby as well.

We drove to the China Beach day use area to go to the beach instead of taking the 200+ steps of stairs at the campground. And from there too we hiked the Mystic Beach round trip.

We’ll be going...

It's a good campground. Nice location, good access to t the Juan De Fuca trail, and highway. If you have an RV and you want to take on fresh water, stop at the sani station at French Creek campground, because there's nowhere to fill your water at China Beach, and no sani. The campground has 4 fully private showers with a sink & toilet in it. However, the pressure on these facilities is immense with long wait times. A great idea but I believe they should have separated the showers from the washroom facilities, or built more. There is also two dishwashing stations. A few pit...
