I arrived very late after an extremely difficult journey. Despite the rooms being very modern and lots of emenities. I immediately asked myself where the rest of the lights were. No ceiling light at all so room was very dim. That seemed okay, because i was way past needing to sleep. However after extiguishing the lights i soon discovered it wasn't dim at all. The light coming through through the windows was so annoyingly bright i decided to close the curtains. That is where the modern look is disappointing. Just like the lack of room lights, there was not even a real set of curtains. Just an artsy fartsy decorative end sash either side of the window with a translucence sheer center. Great now once a persons eyes adjust to the light level it seems like i was trying to sleep in a room with the lights on. Fatigue over came this for about an hour when a sound of other guest closing a door jarred me awake again. So there i was sleep deprived in a room distracted by light and sound. Why with all modern tech can you not build a sound barrier room and floor with light blocking curtains. It boggles my mind. The other guests were not loud but it was just like the light. Too much was allowed to escape into the hallway and floors and oter guests rooms. Totally unacceptable. I never even got 3 hours of sleep. That made my next working day extremely difficult. I work in a job that requires extreme mental alertness for safety sake.
Breakfast was self serve with ample selection of both hot and cold food. Checkout was brief and i never even looked at the bill total as I didn't book the room or have to pay for any of the expenses, as that is handled by admin staff of the company i work for. I discovered that once back at home office next day. My comment to them was never book me there again. Correction admin had to use my personal credit card as there was no easy access to allow them prepay or set up company direct billing. I might as well have just driven to work same day despite that being 3 hours away. The storm I drove through to get there was a factor in the booking but the benifit was not worth the reward. Personally i would never even consider this facility, I coud have been better rested if i would have fueled up and idled the night away in the seat reclined position with my hat over my eyes in a parking lot. Modern look does not compensate for what guests need peace and quiet in a dark room. Not even sure what the HVAC was doing either. Sometimes it was heating then the next cooling. It was minus 20 outside what is with the cold air rushes followed by a heating cycle. OMG. Never had time to even explore any features of room just a quick shave in am in the beautiful modern style sink. The facility shows well but misses mark by miles in the real needs of a working traveller's room. Sorry it just the way i...
Read moreCanalta Kindersley is a new and modern decorated hotel but there were just enough annoyances that we would not choose to stay here again given the price point. We rented a king size room with a kitchenette in October 2024.||On the negative / annoying side|- The sound proofing between floors is very poor. We could hear the people above us talking (we could actually make out what they were saying) and walking. |- No dish towels or dish cloths were in the room, despite the inventory in the cupboard saying there were. We had to call for them, which they did deliver to our room.|- No information book / card to figure out where to find ice machine|- The provided dish soap had enough for one use and no spare in the room. As there is no dishwasher, dish soap was necessary.|- Luggage cart has no hooks for hanging clothes / bags. Not a major issue but definitely an annoyance when transporting stuff from the car to the room and back.|- No shelves / drawers to place clothes, aside from one small drawer in the two bed stands. For someone who likes to unpack when they travel this was annoying. The cabinet under the TV where luggage can be placed is empty so you could stack clothes in there, but I would have preferred to have a shelf in it. |- Only one hook for towels, no towel racks|- The toilet is the type that doesn’t have a lid. No big deal but I prefer to be able to close the toilet lid when not in use|- The exercise room was well equipped and had water dispensers and TV. However only the wall TV worked and you couldn’t watch it and safely while using the treadmill given the placement. The TVs on the treadmills did not work. |- Most Canalta’s have a yogurt/musli/fruit cup in their free breakfast, however the Kindersley hotel did not for the two days we stayed there which was disappointing. Second breakfast there we had to ask for cutlery as there were no knives and nowhere to leave dirty dishes until we asked and then a plastic dish pan was placed on the counter. ||On the positive side|- Fridge was a small bar fridge but worked well. Freezer space on it was decent compared to most bar style fridges|- Check in was smooth and quick. |- Attractive décor, room and hotel were clean|- There was a USB port on the lamps and alarm clock was dimmable|- Toiletries were nice, dove soap and lotion, and a small bottle of scope mouthwash. Shampoo, conditioner and body gel is in dispensers in the shower.|- Shower was great. Rain fall style with lots of pressure and hot water was quick.|- Wifi was easy to connect to and we had no issues with speed|- The pool area was very clean and the hot tub and pool were both great temperatures. Chlorine smell was strong, but this is not uncommon in...
