We stayed July 23-25 in a standard room facing the pond in the back. I will start with the good things. The view from our room was nice because the pond and the forest are always more relaxing than looking at the parking lot. The bed and pillows were comfortable. We had an excellent supper at the Fredrich restaurant in the hotel. The prime rib was amazing, and my wife had elk ravioli that was very good. One thing to remember is that Fredrich is only open for supper from Thursday to Saturday, 5-11 pm, not every day. They are open 7:30 am-2:30 pm each day for breakfast and lunch. We also had lunch at the Wyld pub onsite, and it was very good. We had a package that got us chocolate-covered strawberries each day, with a small bottle of champagne, and both were very good. The people onsite were very nice to deal with. Now to the issues that I had there. The room water pressure for the shower was very weak and barely had enough pressure to reach the back of the bathtub. I had to unclog about 30% of the shower head holes because there was so much calcium deposit in them. I would recommend that they use a calcium cleaner on the shower heads or have the cleaning staff use a brush to scrub off the calcium after each stay. The plug for the sink in the room did not seal properly, so when I tried to shave, I had to leave the water running to have enough water in the sink to rinse my razor. With my package, we had a $30 gift card to the restaurants onsite and a free private sauna. The $30 gift certificate they gave me expired in June, and when I tried to use it at the Wyld restaurant, they were not going to give me the discount. I had just gotten that gift certificate from the front desk the day before. I told the server that this is not my problem, and they need to honor the gift certificate. After talking to the manager, they did. How hard is it to check the date of the certificate you give out, or better yet, don't have an expiration date on them at all. The sauna was something new that they had on site since the winter of 2025. It is a wood-burning sauna that we looked forward to. We booked it for 2 pm, and at about 1:30 pm, the front desk called me and said that they had run out of wood and would have to reschedule our sauna time. Talk about not being organized. I was not very happy, but decided it might be nice to do it before we head to bed, so I rebooked our sauna for 9 pm. My wife and I came down to the front desk at 8:55 pm, and the ladies there told me that the person who takes care of the sauna has been busy today and has not had time to set it, so it would not be ready to use until 10 pm. You would think that after you run out of firewood for my first appointment that you would make sure that it's ready for my next one. Don't bring in a new service to your hotel if you can't run it properly. The one other complaint was that my room had no do not disturb sign for the door, and twice we had people try to come into the room while we were in it. I'm not sure if it was missing or if they just don't have them here. When we checked out, I asked for a manager to talk to about the issues with my stay, but they were not in when we left at 9:45 am. I asked the lady at the front desk for a manager to call me back when they get in to talk about the issues I had with my stay, and she said that she would have them call me. I'm still waiting for that phone call on July 28th. We normally stay here each July, but honestly, this time was a little...

Management leaves you out in the cold and doesn’t care.
I stayed for 1 night (Tuesday, January 7th), while travelling for work, at Elk Ridge On The Lake.
Upon check-in at the main lodge, I was advised it would be a 10 minute drive to get to my room in Waskesiu, and that the door would be unlocked and keys sitting on the table in the room.
Upon arrival at my room, the door was locked. I phoned reception and was told that it would be 10 to 15 minutes for somebody to come let me in. OK - at least I had my vehicle running for heat on a cold January Northern Saskatchewan evening. After 30 minutes, I phoned reception again asking if somebody had left to come open my room, they put me on hold to find out nobody had left and it will now be about another 20 minutes waiting. I suggested that I just drive back to the main lodge and put me up there for the evening - was told it was already full (I will have to take their word for it).
Somebody did eventually arrive… 50 minutes after my initial phone call sharing that the door was locked. Of course, no heat was on in the unit. It probably took close to 3 hours before the baseboard heaters were able to get the unit up to an appropriate temperature (never did remove my jacket during that time).
I shared this experience through the resorts website’s “Make Us Better” feedback form that Tuesday night where I asked some somebody from management to give me a call to address this experience. No response.
Wednesday (around 11:30 am), I got a phone call seeking to confirm I checked out (I was to have just left the keys on the table which I did when I left at 7 am). I said yes, and then ask that they have somebody from management call me (and I shared my experience with this associate). No response.
Thursday night, before boarding my flight back home, I once again submitted the feedback form specifically asking somebody from management to call me on my experience. No response.
Now 4 days after this experience, I get an automated email saying “We value your opinion” asking me to leave a review…
I get that issues happen, but it is how people choose to deal with the issue that makes the difference. Too bad my business is not valued, and if they treat everyone this way, I would NOT recommend...
Read moreI would like to start off by saying the cottage we stayed in was convenient and very nice since we were staying for a golf weekend and were able to walk to and from the beautiful golf course.
The service I received after the fact was anything but convenient. After arriving home after the golf weekend I realized some clothing was left behind. It was put into the dryer because we had golfed in the rain, and in our rush to check out it was left behind. I called the Monday after the weekend, was told the room hadn't been cleaned yet and that they would phone me back after it was cleaned, I left my information and waited until Thursday to call back.
When I called back Thursday I was told that they still were not sure whether anything was found and I was assured I would receive a call back by 5:00 that evening. No one called me back.
The next morning I called again, and I spoke with a nice girl who said she knew the guy working on this case and that she would make sure he called me back by the end of the day Friday. Satisfied, I again left my number to ensure she had the right information, and I waited for the phone call, it never came.
The following Monday I called back again, and I spoke with the guy I first spoke with, and he said that he would check with the cleaners and he would get back to me. Annoyed at getting the run around, I asked what time I would expect a phone call, and he said by 5:00.
5:00 passed, so I called again and spoke with the same nice girl who was shocked I did not get a call back the first time. She apologized, and said she would leave another message for him. I never received a call back.
Finally, the last time I phoned, nearly two weeks later, I was told that the cleaners said there was nothing left behind in the cottage. I told him that I was 100% sure that the clothing was left behind in the dryer, and that I would like to speak with his manager to discuss the situation. The guy put me on hold for 30 seconds and picked up the phone again and said she would have to phone me back, by 5:00, and AGAIN, I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK.
My only option is to leave this poor review, in hopes that management sees this post and relays to their employees that it is unacceptable to treat guests this way.
I hope that anyone who stays at Elk Ridge Resort in the future double, and triple checks their things before they leave, because if you leave something behind, you will not...
