We stayed July 23-25 in a standard room facing the pond in the back. I will start with the good things. The view from our room was nice because the pond and the forest are always more relaxing than looking at the parking lot. The bed and pillows were comfortable. We had an excellent supper at the Fredrich restaurant in the hotel. The prime rib was amazing, and my wife had elk ravioli that was very good. One thing to remember is that Fredrich is only open for supper from Thursday to Saturday, 5-11 pm, not every day. They are open 7:30 am-2:30 pm each day for breakfast and lunch. We also had lunch at the Wyld pub onsite, and it was very good. We had a package that got us chocolate-covered strawberries each day, with a small bottle of champagne, and both were very good. The people onsite were very nice to deal with. Now to the issues that I had there. The room water pressure for the shower was very weak and barely had enough pressure to reach the back of the bathtub. I had to unclog about 30% of the shower head holes because there was so much calcium deposit in them. I would recommend that they use a calcium cleaner on the shower heads or have the cleaning staff use a brush to scrub off the calcium after each stay. The plug for the sink in the room did not seal properly, so when I tried to shave, I had to leave the water running to have enough water in the sink to rinse my razor. With my package, we had a $30 gift card to the restaurants onsite and a free private sauna. The $30 gift certificate they gave me expired in June, and when I tried to use it at the Wyld restaurant, they were not going to give me the discount. I had just gotten that gift certificate from the front desk the day before. I told the server that this is not my problem, and they need to honor the gift certificate. After talking to the manager, they did. How hard is it to check the date of the certificate you give out, or better yet, don't have an expiration date on them at all. The sauna was something new that they had on site since the winter of 2025. It is a wood-burning sauna that we looked forward to. We booked it for 2 pm, and at about 1:30 pm, the front desk called me and said that they had run out of wood and would have to reschedule our sauna time. Talk about not being organized. I was not very happy, but decided it might be nice to do it before we head to bed, so I rebooked our sauna for 9 pm. My wife and I came down to the front desk at 8:55 pm, and the ladies there told me that the person who takes care of the sauna has been busy today and has not had time to set it, so it would not be ready to use until 10 pm. You would think that after you run out of firewood for my first appointment that you would make sure that it's ready for my next one. Don't bring in a new service to your hotel if you can't run it properly. The one other complaint was that my room had no do not disturb sign for the door, and twice we had people try to come into the room while we were in it. I'm not sure if it was missing or if they just don't have them here. When we checked out, I asked for a manager to talk to about the issues with my stay, but they were not in when we left at 9:45 am. I asked the lady at the front desk for a manager to call me back when they get in to talk about the issues I had with my stay, and she said that she would have them call me. I'm still waiting for that phone call on July 28th. We normally stay here each July, but honestly, this time was a little...

Update - Management finally reached out to me (January 15th), apologizing for the experience and crediting me back 50% to my credit card for my experience. I will give them another chance.

~

Management leaves you out in the cold and doesn’t care.

I stayed for 1 night (Tuesday, January 7th), while travelling for work, at Elk Ridge On The Lake.

Upon check-in at the main lodge, I was advised it would be a 10 minute drive to get to my room in Waskesiu, and that the door would be unlocked and keys sitting on the table in the room.

Upon arrival at my room, the door was locked. I phoned reception and was told that it would be 10 to 15 minutes for somebody to come let me in. OK - at least I had my vehicle running for heat on a cold January Northern Saskatchewan evening. After 30 minutes, I phoned reception again asking if somebody had left to come open my room, they put me on hold to find out nobody had left and it will now be about another 20 minutes waiting. I suggested that I just drive back to the main lodge and put me up there for the evening - was told it was already full (I will have to take their word for it).

Somebody did eventually arrive… 50 minutes after my initial phone call sharing that the door was locked. Of course, no heat was on in the unit. It probably took close to 3 hours before the baseboard heaters were able to get the unit up to an appropriate temperature (never did remove my jacket during that time).

I shared this experience through the resorts website’s “Make Us Better” feedback form that Tuesday night where I asked some somebody from management to give me a call to address this experience. No response.

Wednesday (around 11:30 am), I got a phone call seeking to confirm I checked out (I was to have just left the keys on the table which I did when I left at 7 am). I said yes, and then ask that they have somebody from management call me (and I shared my experience with this associate). No response.

Thursday night, before boarding my flight back home, I once again submitted the feedback form specifically asking somebody from management to call me on my experience. No response.

Now 4 days after this experience, I get an automated email saying “We value your opinion” asking me to leave a review…

I get that issues happen, but it is how people choose to deal with the issue that makes the difference. Too bad my business is not valued, and if they treat everyone this way, I would NOT recommend...

I would like to start off by saying the cottage we stayed in was convenient and very nice since we were staying for a golf weekend and were able to walk to and from the beautiful golf course.

The service I received after the fact was anything but convenient. After arriving home after the golf weekend I realized some clothing was left behind. It was put into the dryer because we had golfed in the rain, and in our rush to check out it was left behind. I called the Monday after the weekend, was told the room hadn't been cleaned yet and that they would phone me back after it was cleaned, I left my information and waited until Thursday to call back.

When I called back Thursday I was told that they still were not sure whether anything was found and I was assured I would receive a call back by 5:00 that evening. No one called me back.

The next morning I called again, and I spoke with a nice girl who said she knew the guy working on this case and that she would make sure he called me back by the end of the day Friday. Satisfied, I again left my number to ensure she had the right information, and I waited for the phone call, it never came.

The following Monday I called back again, and I spoke with the guy I first spoke with, and he said that he would check with the cleaners and he would get back to me. Annoyed at getting the run around, I asked what time I would expect a phone call, and he said by 5:00.

5:00 passed, so I called again and spoke with the same nice girl who was shocked I did not get a call back the first time. She apologized, and said she would leave another message for him. I never received a call back.

Finally, the last time I phoned, nearly two weeks later, I was told that the cleaners said there was nothing left behind in the cottage. I told him that I was 100% sure that the clothing was left behind in the dryer, and that I would like to speak with his manager to discuss the situation. The guy put me on hold for 30 seconds and picked up the phone again and said she would have to phone me back, by 5:00, and AGAIN, I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK.

My only option is to leave this poor review, in hopes that management sees this post and relays to their employees that it is unacceptable to treat guests this way.

I hope that anyone who stays at Elk Ridge Resort in the future double, and triple checks their things before they leave, because if you leave something behind, you will not...

Me and my boyfriend went up with his brother and sister-in-law last weekend. And honestly I think we all agreed that we wouldn’t go again. For how expensive it is, it is not worth it in my opinion. I understand the desk is busy, but there were two times I called in to book a pool time, and one time I didn’t get a callback at all. And the other time it took 35+ mins. (By that time I had already driven to the lodge to book it in person) The hot tub was honestly very very gross. Every time we went there was a literal ring on dirt around the hot tub, of hair and dead skin cells. On the last night of our stay me and my boyfriend pushed all the grime through the hot tub filter, but it just spit it all back out in one big clump. Very disgusting. (Wish I took pics cause I’m not exaggerating. We were grossed out as well as other people staying there. It got to a point where we were all sitting in the ‘clean’ spots. And if they were all taken then people would just sit on one of the lounge chairs instead lol) The townhouse we stayed at wasn’t cleaned well. There was long hairs left on one of our pillowcases when we checked in. The rules of the townhouse were very inconsistent. There was a sheet of rules taped in the cupboard and then a different sheet of rules in a frame in front of the door. Both saying different things regarding parking and dishes etc. first thing we noticed when we got settled in was the wifi was busted. A lot of the taps leaked if you turned them to almost maximum pressure. The customer service was always super great, very friendly staff which was appreciated! But when we checked out and got asked how our stay was, we said ‘oh it was just alright’ And then she told us to have a nice day. Definitely thought maybe she would of asked why it was only alright haha The roads were absolutely awful. You basically had to drive under 10 to not get tossed around in the car because of how bad the ruts were. Overall for the huge price it was, it wasn’t worth it. We all wore skis that were too small because there wasn’t enough selection. Skates seemed very wore out. And the pool was nasty. Our room was not cleaned and things were broken. We will go to another resort next time ☻ Thanks!

Arrived on Friday evening and was greeted by friendly staff. We were there for the weekend for a conference and stayed in the lodge. Upon arrival, there was a fire burning outside the main doors, offering warmth and lovely campfire aroma. We got checked in; a standard room with 2 queen beds. The beds were firm, and pillows were soft, overall comfortable. We enjoyed a lovely view of the back of the resort from our deck. House keeping does not come into the room throughout the day, they only come in on the 3rd day of your stay. While we didn't get a chance to take advantage of some of the things the resort offered, we were impressed with all of the activities available. Traditional cross country ski trails, walking trails, crocicurl, skating rink, and a skating circle. Skates & cross country skis & boots were available inside the lodge for guest use. There is an outdoor "gazebo" that is heated for putting on skates or warming up. The pool area was awesome. There are change rooms with lockers upon entry to the pool area. The temperature of the pool was warm, so it was quite enjoyable. There is a water slide (for all ages). You have to book a time slot at the front desk to use the pool, to prevent overcrowding of the area and to give everyone an opportunity to use it. The pool is open to guest of the lodge, cabins and cottages, which can end up being a lot of people accessing it on a busy weekend. Food choices are limited at the resort. We brought lots of our own snacks and beverages, and stored them in the room fridge. The Wyld offers some very good options but the service is slow. The Fredrich at the main lodge offers breakfast and supper, but we did not get a chance to dine there. There are vending machines on the property. The banquet rooms in the lower level were perfect for an intimate gathering. The space is very comfortable for groups from 50-75 people. There is a beautiful view of the back of the property, with doors that walk out at ground level. Overall, this is a great place to escape to in any season. It offers a place to relax, recharge and spend time outdoors. Looking forward to my next visit to Elk Ridge.

We got to stay at the Elk Ridge Resort after finding out how horrible the Elk Ridge on the Lake is, we got lucky they had a room available and could spend the two nights there. Is about a 10 min drive to Waskesiu if you want to go to the lake, or to golf. The rooms are just what you need, comfortable bed, the hand towels had a few stains but nothing terrible. The one complaint is the shower, honestly the most pressure we have experienced but in a hurtful kinda way, if you are sensitive please take a breath before showering it feels like punishment. We asked the front desk representative if the showers were all the same but they weren’t sure and the shower head can’t be adjusted. I tried Drift spa while my husband golfed and the service and prices are good and the relaxation massage was great. The restaurants are nice, but the quality of the food doesn’t match the hotel or the prices, better off driving the 10 min and have breakfast/coffee at Evergreen, lunch at The Shack, and dinner at Pietro. My husband played Waskesiu but didn’t play Elk Ridge so he doesn’t have a comment on the course but based on the pro-shop and a few holes that can be seen by the Lodge it looks awesome. We wished they had an outdoor pool or some set up for you to enjoy the sunshine during the summer. We would be back.
