If you're from the US, you will probably not want to stay at this campground. I kind of got the feeling when the owner made us wait for him to escort us to the site because he didn't want us to tear up his grass that he may have had an issue with campers from the US. I took two pictures the day we pulled in, the first was of the existing damage to the grass and the second of the condition when we pulled in. Mind you, he personally escorted us to the site and then told us about all of the damage that campers cause, despite the fact that he has located several large rocks immediately in front of the site entrance so that a large fifth wheel with a limited turn radius will inevitably either punch out the back window of their tow vehicle or put a tire on the grass. There were many other unoccupied sites, but he made mention that he would have to check with other people before putting us on another site, he went into a long dialogue about the grass and ultimately asked us if we were OK pulling in. We said we'd give it a try and did an admirable job. Mind you, he could have brought us to any other site, but choose to bring us to this site and then make a huge issue out of pulling in without touching the grass. I subsequently went to buy ice from the campground, which was actually closer to a solid block of ice than cubes, and instead of paying with a credit card in order to save them the credit card fees, I paid with US cash. Now the exchange rate is .75 Canadian Dollars/1 US Dollar. The attendant said she would be happy to take my $4 for ice, but wouldn't do the exchange. It was apparently a lesson in Canadian hospitality. I won't forget it. Then, I purchased packaged Canadian firewood from a local gas station and was told to remove it from the site I occupied. I will grant you that their multi faceted rules sheet lists no outside firewood, no mats, nothing touching a tree, no generators, no drones, no washing of vehicles, no utility trailers , no approaching a gate without a gate card etc, etc, etc., no parking your tow vehicle in your site if a tire will touch the grass (really? maybe they might widen their sites to acommodate the visitors from whom they accept reservations). I purchased the firewood at a gas station because I had not forgotten their issue with the US/Canadian exchange rate. Interestingly enough, the campground was barely occupied. I can imagine that their occupancy is a reflection of their hospitality. Anyway, just a piece of advice. If you are from the US, find another campground. I surely won't return.

"Basecamp Toronto" I had planned a family vacation to the Toronto area for the end of June and I chose this campground as our Basecamp. It allowed us close access to the city as well as Niagara Falls. Please note: for anyone not from a large city (we definitely weren't) be prepared for some wicked traffic. We visited Canada's Wonderland (day 1), Malls (day 2 due to rain), CN Tower and downtown (day 3), Niagara Falls (day 4), and the Zoo (day 5). Each one takes about an hour or more to drive to depending on the day and time so plan accordingly. You won't find many campgrounds around Toronto that has as good of a location. That being said, please understand that the campground is still in the city (rural outskirts) and very close to the 401 highway so be prepared for a bit of highway noise. If you have a hard-sided trailer you'll be ok. We didn't find the noise to be a bother and wasn't an issue at night. On the bright side, having the 401 so close means you can use it to go anywhere you want in the city. If you're reading this then you've probably read other reviews complaining about the "rules". Yes, there are rules just like most other good campgrounds. Rules are what keeps the campground quiet and clean. The previous two campgrounds we stayed at before arriving at Milton Heights also had rules but no one enforcing them so we were kept up after quiet hours by loud music and loud talking. The only thing we heard at Milton Heights was the white noise of the 401 and the birds. If you want to party, go elsewhere. If you want a peaceful stay in the city, this is it. I can't speak about the bathrooms since we had a sewer site but we did use the laundry room and the machines worked just fine. Overall, if I were to haul my trailer back to the Toronto area, I wouldn't hesitate to book this campground again.

A Gem for RV Newbies and Veterans Alike! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 If you're looking for an RV park that feels like a home away from home, look no further than Milton Heights Campground! Location & Ambiance: Nestled in a picturesque setting, this campground is like the Goldilocks of parks - not too big, not too small, but just right. Maintenance & Cleanliness: Spotless! You could eat off the ground if you wanted to. The facilities are so well-kept, you’d think they were expecting the Queen of England. Staff: Let's talk about Andy. If there were an Olympic medal for campground hospitality, Andy would be on the podium, waving the flag. He and his crew are more helpful than a Swiss Army knife at a survivalist convention. Helpfulness: As a newbie RV owner, I was more lost than Columbus before hitting America. Andy was my personal GPS for RV life, guiding me through the ins and outs with the patience of a saint and the knowledge of... well, someone who knows a lot about RVs. Community: The sense of community here could make even the most cynical city-dweller feel warm and fuzzy inside. It's like Cheers, but instead of Norm, you've got Norm and his 30-foot Winnebago. Value for Money: After staying here, any other campground might feel like you're overpaying for a parking lot. The only downside? You might leave here thinking every other campground should be run by Andy. If the negative reviews exist, they must be from people who find fault in a perfectly sunny day for not providing enough shade. Milton Heights Campground isn't just a place to park your RV; it's where you'll want to park your memories. Highly recommended!

If you are within a very specific demographic, then this place is great - otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

Let me start off with the pros. The roads are paved. The sites fare very long to accommodate larger fifth wheels and motor homes. The area for tenting has a lot of great tree cover. Despite being just off the highway, the noise is hardly noticeable. Location is great. The young staff are great kids.

Onto some commentary that potential vacationers should be aware of. First off, just from reading the responses to reviews and our own experience, be advised that the owner is never wrong (you know that old saying about the customer is always right - in this case, the owner is never wrong). So, if you're planning on staying here, know that the rules are FAR ABOVE AND BEYOND the usual campground rules. The owner will likely say that this is for the safety and enjoyment of all guests. Things like no mats except doormats (to ensure the grass is protected for future guests - more on that later), awnings and gazebos only permitted on weekends, and campfires to be out at midnight. Oh, and while it's not written anywhere, apparently no pool toys are allowed at the pool. And there's no flexibility on any of this.

As other reviews have mentioned, the "grass" is sacred here, to preserve the "picturesque" appearance of the facility. But it reminds me of the other saying "Good from far, far from good". I'll qualify this and say that I wouldn't be so picky if this whole grass thing hadn't been such a big deal. Rule 1 of the campground's rules and regulations says, "DAMAGE DONE TO THE GRASS, SUCH AS RUTS, WILL INCUR A REPAIR FEE." [caps are mine for emphasis.] The grass here is clearly sacred (although, it's not really grass - lawn, maybe, but it's a mix of clover and some other weeds). The roads are in need of some serious repair - they're horribly cracked. The effort being applied to patch the roads isn't enough. This, to me, is a bigger safety-related issue than ruts in grass, especially with respect to children and bikes and running (and falling and tripping and scraping of knees). Also, be advised that there is a building marked with bathrooms and a laundromat that doesn't show up on the campground map. Those who pay less attention to this may think that this building is available (for bathroom and laundry use) since there are no signs on any of the doors to indicate that it's not in service. I heard from some other people, while we were staying here, that this created confusion (and a great deal of frustration) for them. Also, be advised that the laundromat only accepts coins and there is no change machine in the laundromat. It's not far to go to the office to get change, but it's annoyingly inconvenient.

Getting back to the grass / lawn thing, be advised that you should definitely make a point of asking the owner to help you park your fifth wheel / trailer / motor home. The road isn't wide enough to properly accommodate the turning radius required to back in without going on the grass. The owner will bring wood planks to cover said sacred grass and avoid the rutting issue. Also, the campsite pads are not paved and any gravel pads that used to be there are overgrown, so it's challenging to know exactly where to back into to avoid damaging the sacred grass.

I really wanted to like this place - the location is so great. And it really is relatively beautifully maintained. It has so much potential to be a very special location so near to the GTA. But we found the attitude of the owner and the rigidity of the rules to be off-putting. So while I wouldn't personally recommend it, I also wouldn't discourage this place to anyone, as long as they go in with the right...

I have stayed at this campground many times but this latest stay was very disappointing and unsatisfactory as they do not have very good customer service at all. I know their reply/comment will be “Thank you for bringing up one of our rules!!”. This is their attitude and how they deal with paying customers. My BIGGEST COMPLAINT had to do with services I DID NOT RECEIVE which I explain below.

When I booked the site I was told important information such as check in time, cost for visitors BUT I was not told they have a limit of 5 guests per site rule. The receptionist said that she believed it came into effect during COVID. I explained that I had a birthday party for my sister years ago and the had a “celebration of life” get together a few years later at this park. They were accommodating on those occasions and so I said I would appreciate it if she could ask if I could have a get-together for a couple hours for my family to see their 91 year old father/grand father/great grand father. The answer was no as they didn’t want to receive any complaints from other campers. The area they put us had one other camper. The rest of the lots were empty and some in a distance were seasonal I believe but didn’t see anyone there. The latest we would have been was 9:00

Now for the services “I did not receive but paid for”!!! As we were preparing to pack up and leave we placed the sewer hose in the drain hole and pulled the black water release. Within seconds the black water came spewing out as it was full/not draining. We rushed to get it stopped so not to make anymore mess than it already caused. I was NOT able to empty the rest of the black as well as the grey tank. I was delivering this trailer to someone else who now has to dump from our use.

Upon checkout I spoke to the receptionist explaining what happened. She said “yes we have had a problem at a few sites!!!!!”. I asked if I could get a refund for paying for a 3 way site (water, electric, sewer) to a 2 way site (water, electric) as that’s the only services we received. The receptionist called the Manager/Owner/superior and explained my situation to him. Much to my surprise she told me he said “they do not give refunds and I could have caused the problem myself!!!!” The receptionist was apologetic as she understood my concerns but not once did the owners apologize nor offer any other options for dumping (like pulling into another one of their MANY empty sites). The receptionist asked me if I wanted her to call him back which my answer was “no thank you, I have already wasted too much time and am completely shocked and disappointed in the services and attitude by owners who do not care about their customers.”

I have been camping for over 30 years and I am always making recommendations to friends, strangers and RVing community groups about good places to stay but feel it’s equally important to reveal “not so good” places so they don’t have the same experience as I did. This was not a cheap stay as it was $80+ for one night.

My honest recommendation would be to check out the neighbouring KOA if needing to stay in that area. This recommendation is based solely on my experience regarding to a non-operating septic system and lack of customer service and wanting to help with this problem. Thankfully I can say I have not had to make this poor of a review (if ever) so my camping experiences until now have...

i would put 0 stars if i could. by far the worst camp ground me and my family have ever been to. Their system of operation is crazy. They make per person and per vehicle and per trailer pay (which is a lot of money)- unlike other campground where you pay per site. My cousin and uncle arrived to the camp site early because they had the day off and they got 2 sites side by side and thought to put both their pop up trailers on one site so we had more room to set up chairs, make out outdoor cooking station set up our coolers, park both vehicles (the sites are very small and it was very tight- but then this BEYOND RUDE lady came and RUDELY told my uncle and cousin they could not have a the trailers set up that way. So my uncle and cousin had to pack up their trailers and put them on 2 separate sites (which is a lot of work with these pop up trailers especially because you need more then 1 person to open and close them.) it was raining on the Friday when we arrived so we had a fire but it died out quickly- especially because we only put in 2 small pieces of wood prior to the rain starting. We had just started the bbq to make some quick dinner and some campground workers came to our site and were being snoopy. We had our wood under a tarp so it would stay dry and they questioned us about it and they were upset that we brought a bit of our own wood (sorry we get it for free and we shouldn’t need to buy yours if we already have wood). They were inspecting our fire complaining it was not to be higher then THE RIM! THEIR LITTLE RIM! It was raining so we were not worried about the fire because it was pretty much out (due to the rain). We would get spoken to about anything and everything! If me and my cousin’s fiancé would walk to the bathroom and chat on the way, they would come to our site and say we were too loud, if we got hungry at midnight and wanted to cook a little snack, they came around and complained about making sure we stayed quieter because we shouldn’t be making noise. This park expects you to BE COMPLETELY ASLEEP BY 11:00PM! So if you planned to have any sort of fun- your not allowed to have it here. Needless to say, at 11:00AM we got a knock on the door from the same rude lady saying we needed to pack up and leave because we were disruptive past 11:00pm and we had a fire on all night (which was not true at all). We demanded our money back and got it. Unless your really old or have children that you keep on a bed time schedule that they are not allowed to break and your really old school about staying up past 10pm- DO NOT GO HERE. Your pestered all the time by the park people and they will complain about anything and everything. We will never return to this campsite and we would never recommend it either. everything happened for a reason though and we ended up finding another camp site down the street called Flamboro Valley Camping Resort were it was MUCH CHEAPER, more beautiful, the sites were bigger, nobody pestered you or snooped, they had activities going on, they had fire works, a better pool, no rules about having to be asleep by 11, we could be around the fire all night as long as we attend to it, and they had a little disco party for the long weekend, and they allow you to bring your own wood and the other campers there...
