I am leaving a review based on my family's experience on September 4, 2021 with a lady server at Bella's Castle.
We were vacationing from Winnipeg and found Bella's Castle online as a charming, must-eat/must-visit place in Morden. I called to see if they can accommodate our group (2 seniors, 3 adults, 2 kids) for dinner that same night. The lady on the phone, who was professional and friendly, made a reservation for us and asked if we would like to dine inside or the patio. Although a bit hesitant since it drizzled earlier that day, I asked to be seated on the patio. Upon arrival, we were delighted by how charming, beautiful and photogenic the place was. A lady server found us outside the front door and directed us to our table set up on the open patio. It started to drizzle a little bit so I asked her if we can transfer inside to which the lady server responded with I thought you said you wanted to sit outside, with an attitude. We were taken aback by her response and so we decided to stay outside. Note that we were the only customers seated on the open patio.
She went on to serve us glasses of water when a few minutes later, the rain started to pour harder. We immediately stood up and went up the front steps and requested again that we dine inside. We were not going sit and eat outside, under the pouring rain, especially not with seniors and kids with us. She, again, gave us an attitude and asked for our covid cards. This wasn't an issue so we presented our QR codes. Before letting us in, she told us to take our own glasses of water and bring it inside. Her uncalled for attitude was really building up on us that I remember looking for a name tag on her, which she didn't have, so I can note her name.
Once inside, she lead us to a long table at the back by the kitchen. I noticed there was one small family of four or five already dining at the table by the door and another couple seated on the right side. She then took our orders with the same demeanor. On the other hand, another lady from the kitchen, who helped serve our food, was really nice and accommodating. While eating, my sister seated near one end of the table asked for the menu to look at dessert for my little niece. The lady server came back and simply put the menu down on the other end of the table and left, not actually handing it to my sister. My family looked at each other in disbelief.
Least to say, my family and I were all holding back our temper during dinner. The food was delicious and the place was beautiful, but none of us enjoyed the dining experience at all. My family and I have never experienced this kind of unacceptable service and behavior and we have never met a server with rudeness of this level.
We didn't get the server's name, but I would describe her as black-haired and petite. I hope the owners of Bella's Castle are able to make corrective actions as they deem appropriate...

I like to see the best of what a town has to offer when I visit so when I heard about Bella’s castle and saw the rave reviews I was instantly excited to see it. We stayed in the penthouse to experience the best of what they had to offer. A couple of really good things - the bed was comfortable! The pillows were great, the claw foot tub amazing and they had a record player in the room. While on the downside the decor was gaudy, the records horrible, not to mention the reading selection (mostly wedding stuff 🙄). None of this mattered to us really.. it was breakfast that really let us down. We had preordered our food, which, we didn’t know meant that the food would actually be made prior to our arrival at the table. I have never seen this done so was surprised but still quite delighted that I did not have to wait at all to eat. This was a short lived happiness that was quickly thwarted when I tasted the first bite. The eggs were cold, actually everything was cold but cold eggs are hard for me to stomach. The server didn’t once check on us to see if we were enjoying our meal and because we had paid in advance (including a coerced advance tip paying for zero service.. very confusing?) we eventually just walked out and left our food on the table with the bad taste still in our mouths.
The only thing other than the beauty of the building and grounds that we enjoyed was the local tavern down the road called Rocks that had a live band the night we stayed and an amazing meal! When we had first arrived at Bella’s we asked for recommendations for where to eat in the area and were told Chicken Chef and Boston Pizza, or a place at a golf course a ten minute drive away.. after we had been driving for quite some time to get there. When we asked about Rocks we were told that the food was just “so-so”. I’m glad we went with our instincts as it saved the trip.
I feel more let down than anything as I had such high expectations for this place. I had been following their instagram for years and loving the business idea.. as a photographer I wanted to be able to recommend the place to clientele and even just come back for short road trips myself with my partner. Unfortunately I think this is one we will have to put in the lessons learned category...
Read moreWe just had the most amazing wedding weekend at Bella’s Castle. We came from Ontario just for the occasion, and it was absolutely worth it. The grounds and the castle are so picturesque and beautiful – our guests could literally not stop raving about how much they loved the venue. It was the perfect garden party vibe: classy, elegant, and unlike anything we’ve experienced before. ||There are so many stunning spots around the venue for photos. The gardens are impeccably maintained, and we adored the relaxing fountains and the charming décor thoughtfully placed throughout. The gift shop is beautifully curated, and the historical tidbits on the main floor of the venue were fascinating.||The castle itself was pristine and spacious, with exceptionally comfortable beds. We had everything we needed and more. I stayed in the penthouse suite, and pictures truly don’t do it justice. The longer I stayed, the more I fell in love with the place, constantly discovering little details that were both sweet, surprising and thoughtful.||Lili and Chris are amazing and the sweetest people. They do an incredible job, working tirelessly for their guests day in and day out. You can feel their genuine care and dedication, and they manage everything with such calm and professionalism that everything seems to run perfectly. You can tell they are seasoned professionals – they have thought of everything! I absolutely loved the “service bell” that placed at my seat at the wedding reception. They were also extremely accommodating and welcoming – I instantly felt as if I was at home with my friends.||We’ve already booked a stay for our 1st year wedding anniversary and are already extremely looking forward to it. Thank you Lili and Chris for the most...
