So I will start out by saying, the only reason why we stayed here after this unfortunatly experience is because everywhere else was booked.
I am.writing this review on behalf of my mother and I.
So I booked 2 rooms. One for my mother, nephew and 2 year old son. And one for my daughter, my husband and I.
We live 2 hours away from alliston and my daughter had an afternoon dance lesson to prepare her for the dance competition we were attending in alliston. so I stayed with her in our hometown. And my mother went ahead to alliston with my nephew and son.so that they could enjoy the pool and get settled into hotel room.
Now I admit I made a mistake. I didn't think twice about the fact that I gave my mom my credit card (the one used to make the reservation for the 2 rooms). Since i wasn't with my mom with my credit card, they wouldn't let her check into room. Like I said. I now understand that. Then it gets interesting....
If my mom hadn't made the comment about the credit card being mine and not hers, then the girl would not have even noticed. Her response was oh I wish you hadn't told me that. Now I can't get you checked in.
My mom makes the comment that I will be at the hotel shortly and she will just wait in the front foyer. The young blonde front desk clerk rudely said, "no you may not wait in the front foyer". My mom was embarrassed and angered by her tone. And proceeded to leave the front desk and go out to her van and cry. This girl made my mother cry!! She just drove to the hotel in a freak April blizzard and then you won't let her wait in the front foyer when she is a guest!!! My mother called.me to tell me what happened. I told her to calm down and i would call the hotel. So I called the hotel. The front desk clerk explained to me that my mom can't use my credit card. I said ok. But why can't my mother and my 2 year old son and nephew wait in the foyer til I get there? Her response ..they just can't. Excuse me??!!! So I literally had to beg this woman, and I mean beg to allow them to come in and sit down. Then out of the blue she offers to give my mom access to the pool area until I arrive to get checked into our room. I kindly accept and tell her I will call my.mom back.
After my mom has calmed down, she goes back in with the kids. The girl just stares at her. No hello. No your daughter called. No you can use the pool area. Just a nasty glare.
My mom said. I believe my daughter called you? She said yes she did. I told her I would allow you in the pool area only. She understood about the credit card. All the while being snooty. My mom reminded her that it was her who was honest about the card. If she was so worried about fraud then she would have read the name on the card against her drivers licence. She turned to the kids to calm down and she said to her back that " you can stay in your van as you do not wish to stay here." My mom did not want to cry again in front of her. Her tone and attitude sucked even more this time since there was another staff lounging all over the counter and no customers.
When I arrived in alliston I found my mom in her van in the parking lot still extremely upset.
I go into front desk, identify myself and immediately this girl tells me that my mother was rude to all of her staff and insults my mother right to my face!!! Also.. no hello.or greeting when I walked to the desk. Terrible service. This girl should not be working in the hospitality business. If it wasn't for the fact that I couldn't afford to lose out 300dollars for 2 rooms for 1 night, I would have walked out of there. They had my credit card info online and would have charged me for my stay whether we stayed or not..so we stayed.
Everything was great about the hotel and pool. But the blonde girl working the front desk. I was absolutely disgusted with. Heartbroken for my mom who didn't deserve to be treated like that.
I was going to speak to someone at check out how rude she was and put in a complaint but it was the same girl at the desk in...
Read moreMy mother and I were traveling from Northern Ontario to Southern Ontario and we decided to drive as long as we were able and get a motel/hotel along the way. We went in and were greeted with friendliness but when we said we didn't have a reservation the person at the front desk made a face and paused. So I asked, do you take travelers without reservations? She answered, well no we really don't usually, we are a conference centre and we have big contracts with Honda and local businesses. We find that locals and walk-ins are mostly trouble, but you guys look okay so let me see what I can find. Needless to say we did not feel welcomed. if I hadn't been so tired from driving so far I would have walked out. I worked in the corporate world and Ivbern to many conference centre's. If this is what they think they are then I suggest they check out some of their competitors because they do not even come close. The only good thing I can say about the room was that the bed was comfortable. When I woke up in the morning the head board that had been poorly mounted to the wall had fallen off. Thankfully not on my head. Everything in the room needed updating. It was shabby. Carpet, curtains, wallpaper, art, lamps all belonged in the 1990's. It certainly wasn't worth $168 plus tax. Needless to say I will never...
Read moreThis establishment needs to get into the 21st century. It is dated and short on basics. The room I'm in has a bed, two side tables and a chest of drawers. The hanging space is a couple of hangers under a shelf above the fridge. There is no microwave, $10/night to rent one from the hotel. The coffee maker is a single cup affair with one packet of coffee and powdered creamer. The wash basin is in the bed room while the toilet and bath are in a separate room. The towels are in the bathroom above the toilet. Not the most hygienic place for them. There are no grab bars around the bath area and from what I've been told they have one accessible flat which costs $30 more per night than a regular room because it has a kitchenette. I have a mild disability and require a bath bench, hand shower and grab bars. They're not available. If there was another reasonably priced hotel in this area it would get my business over this DUMP! I've rated it one star but a quarter star is what it really deserves. They also require 7 DAYS notice to cancel a booking. Comfort gives you until 6 pm the day of your...
