My wife and I stayed at Motel Gentilhommière for a few nights during our road trip and absolutely loved it. It is housed in an old house that has been well updated without losing its charm and sits by a quaint river that pours into the St-Lawrence, which the motel faces. Wonderful location.||There are various outdoor structures throughout the property including a covered seating area that allows enjoying the quiet sounds of the river, a covered cooking area that included everything needed to cook a meal, a play area for outdoor sports and for children to play, and Adirondack chairs throughout to enjoy the views. The property was also very well-kept and welcoming. Had we stayed longer, I would hope to have interactions with other guests in the common areas.||The reception area had beautiful decor from local artists available for purchase as well as activities such as board games to occupy visitors if needed and the owners were very kind and welcoming. Various breakfast items can be requested the evening prior if you'd like to have breakfast on-site and the hotel can also prepare fresh pizzas for dinner if requested in advance for a reasonable price.||The rooms had a polished nautical decor and were very clean. We stayed in one of the five rooms located on the ground floor each with a patio door facing the St-Lawrence. The mattresses were firm, but comfortable and we were able to make ourselves at home in our room.||Looking forward to a longer stay at Motel Gentilhommière in the...
Read moreI booked this motel on line. We drove the trans Labrador highway and this was our first night stop. We arrived where our GPS was telling us the motel should be, but could not find the motel. After stopping at another motel and asking directions we found our motel. Coming into reception I was a little worried as the room was freezing! The owner assured us that the room area was warm. ||Our room was a good size and included a small fridge and a microwave. The Room and bathroom were clean. The bathroom was a nice size. The shower had very good water pressure. The room was well insulated against noise, and as the owner had said it was also very comfortably heated. The bed linen were new. The mattress were not that comfortable. This is why I have given this motel a lower score. Waking up in the morning we were surprised at how pretty the area around the motel is. The motel has a view of the St Lawrence, there is a bridge but this kind of adds to the charm. The owner gave us a history of the motel and then showed us the apartment upstairs. It is beautiful and I would consider coming back to this motel and staying in the apartment. Over all the motel rooms are OK. Good place to stay for an overnight trip. The apartment however look very nice and would be good for a...
Read more😊: The hosts at La Gentilhommière (family run) have been extremely friendly and helpful, answering questions prior to our arrival, making us familiar with the facilities, proposing trips and restaurants and preparing fresh dinner and breakfast upon request. The hostel offers many extras, such as a fully equipped barbecue area, seating groups at the water with open (gas) fire and various comfortable armchairs and seating groups that are arranged in a smart way to provide privacy from other guests. For dinner the offer consists of a selection of freshly made pizzas that can be ordered until 5pm and there is a menu of breakfast choices that need to be selected the prior evening together with a timing request. We stayed with a family of four (daughters 16 and 18) in a room that was spacious enough, especially because you spend most of the time outdoor anyway. The room and the bathroom was very clean and looked freshly renovated. The entire house has a very welcoming feel and the hosts have clearly spend a lot of thought on providing a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay.. 😢: Can't think...
