Sooke Harbour House — Hotel in Sooke

Horrible service!! I made a reservation, arrived let the hostess know, show him the reservation, they chose to sit us in the copper room and mark us on OpenTable as we didn’t arrive, didn’t light our candle, serve watered down Aperol Spritz, our server decides she’s too busy (no one in the restaurant) and another server takes over. Both servers never noticed any of our drinks empty. Rude, cold service, I had to get up and ask for service if ever needed, including ordering 4 dishes and a dessert. It was also my Birthday, that’s why I made a reservation. Drunk patrons constantly walking in and out. I let the server know about our reservation they marked us absent and she did nothing to fix it. Horrible service. The food was amazing, but the servers also screwed that up by forgetting about the dessert and telling us the kitchen has a big order in front of ours, once the dessert arrived the ice cream was melted. Was here with my man for 3 nights during the week. The whole place was clean and welcoming and oh so relaxing. We had a beautiful room overlooking the harbour with a jacuzzi tub, strong wifi and peace. Loved how close the Harbour House is to great hiking in East Sooke Park. They hooked us up with a fishing charter and then cooked our catch to perfection. I don't even usually like salmon, but wow. Shawn M. and his kitchen staff knocked our meals out of the park. The SHH grows and harvests most of their veggies from their own gardens. They are conservative and environmentally conscientious in their practices - so close to nature...

The urine smell as you enter the dining area you'll eventually get used as you wait the hour it takes your food to arrive.

The food itself was fine tasting, though very small portions and with the price it was, you'd expect it to wow you, which I can't say I was...

There were however a few redeeming qualities such as the ocean view and a helpful enough staff thought I don't feel they make up for the issue mentioned above.

That said, myself and the group I was with cannot see ourselves returning.
