A group of us went here for breakfast and did not have the best experience. We get that we had a larger party and they were down a chef, but we were pretty much the only parties in the restaurant. It took, 25 minutes to get water (which we stood up to get it ourselves) and 1 hour and 10 minutes to get our food. Because the food took so long and we were going to miss our ferry, we had to ask for the food togo. It truly looked like they botched our food on purpose in the togo boxes because they were upset. A lot of the food did not meet the description on the menus. My friend received a BLT with no lettuce on it. No one received their bread with their house breakfasts. The pear salad had no pear. The portions were insanely small, and the fruit on the side was a slice of orange… Our meals were around $30.00 +, with tip, and just the worst experience. I think the food would be better if we dined in, but waiting an hour and a half for our meals was not feasible. Photos attached are the Benny and house breakfast…

We dined at the main dining room at Sooke Harbor house for breakfast and our anniversary lunch a few weeks later. The view is unsurpassed in the area, with the most spectacular views of the water, right across to Washington. The food is prepared by Red Seal chefs and it sure shows – it is excellent in every way. -The poached eggs were done just right, along with freshly made hollandaise sauce. The bread was also freshly made that day and the bacon was so delectable! -We had halibut-cheek fish and chips on our anniversary lunch, amongst other savories. I had never had halibut cheeks before, but they are so tender! Service by Wes was diligent and friendly. Thanks! I was pleased that the prices weren’t over the top – a time to try out an old favorite restaurant now that it has reopened.

Legendary for a reason! Last night I was trekking the nearby spit after a day of roaming the coast. After hearing about he Harbour House for years since I moved to the Pacific Northwest, I finally had a chance to visit. The charm and sophistication of the property stood out and drew me in. I was far from being dressed for the visit but that didn’t stop the staff from being welcoming. So I decided to belly up to the bar for some dinner. My conversations with the bartender and sommelier was very pleasant for what seemed to be a quiet night for them. They are still in a soft opening phase. My meal was solid and delicious. Perfect for a cozy autumn evening. I can’t wait to visit again once they are fully open.

This review is considering 2 experiences, the first back in July and the second in August as I understand the establishment has changed ownership again. The building and patio itself is stunning, the ocean view is fantastic.

The service both times was brutally slow. Long waits between food, even to get a drink can take 20+ minutes. Staff seemed very stressed and confused. The drinks are very pricey, the beer selection is small.

Our first visit we went for the buck a shuck oysters which were incredible so made up for the poor service. The rest of the food was just okay, very small portions for high price. Our second visit (new ownership) we saw they have removed all of their specials including the buck-a-shuck from the menu, but the server let us know it was their last day offering that deal. Disappointing move!

It seems they are trying to appeal to wealthy American tourists and want to appear as luxury, but do they not offer 5 star service or quality. They need to decide if they want to go 100% for just tourists, or appeal to the locals who they will rely on the rest of the year outside...

The recently revamped Copper Room has been open for a few months for the new iteration of Sooke Harbour House. We have stopped by a few times now.

The interior and exterior spaces are very well done. The open and modern dining room balances the very modern with a coziness. The patio seating offers great views of Whiffin Spit and a real West Coast Experience.

The staff are accommodating and friendly.

The issue we have had is that the food has been poor each time and we have made an effort on trying different things on the menu. Both presentation and execution have lacked from the kitchen and a price point of $20 for appetizers and $40-60 on entrees, this is disappointing.

Right now, we would recommend for a drink on the patio but to opt for a different fine dining option in the area.

Note: just after posting this review, we have read that they have hired a new chef - so hopefully the food improves to match the...
