Lets start out with some of the good points.
-Depending on the lot you chose they can be very spacious. I had plenty of room for my 3 tents and not having to worry about a fire burning them. -The kids working there were more then polite. Zero issues with staff ever there. -We were there on a weekend and the campground was over half empty(the weather was really nice so I can't imagine that many no shows). -While I can't speak for all the campers that camp here. I am always amazed by the people I meet here and how friendly they are. Offering to help when there seems to be an issue. You really feel like you can leave your door unlocked here and sit by anyone's fire and become instant friends.
Here are some bad points.
-I've been camping here for over 40 years. While the lots haven't really changed. The way the campground works has. You don't feel welcome when using the other facilities near the entrance of the campground as they rent these out to others to use. -They have signs everywhere saying not to go in the water. -If you camp for over a week you will probably be stuck playing the shuffle game with your trailer. I was only there a weekend and everyone around me was moving because of an error in the system. -If you bring your boat it may cost you a lot to use it. As medium sized and up will not go in. The water level is very shallow. You will have to go to nearby marinas to get your boat in the water. And there are not many spots to leave it overnight. Very first come first serve. You can go for a ride during the day and come back to a full dock. -Showers are cold. And the shower heads look like original 1980 heads. -The cost was a little high for a normal income family to consider this as a vacation option. They are not the most expensive. But for a lot with no services they are way higher then the average cost. -Noises: Two things bugged me in this category. First of all there is a local bar at the neighbouring campground. I was around 150 meters away and the noise was definitely more then noticeable. Secondly is the train. You don't miss a single train when you are there. No matter what time of day/night it is. And they pass often. If you want a quiet spot to camp this place is not...
Read moreGreat campground. Kid friendly & fur baby friendly. Recommend to anyone. Clean park and friendly staff. Please Disregard @ Nota Realgenius review (just before mine) as they clearly have no clue where ‘boundaries lines are and our trailer is well within our lot line. We are allowed 3 ‘tent’ structures including our trailer. I apologize if we had our own pick nick table and the second one that is provided by the park is just too much for you to stand. As far as the tent behind - its NOT a 5 person tent, it’s a 2-3 person tent. It was camped in by our son and his friend and was wet and needed to dry before packing up- unfortunately it’s been raining a lot every day since so we have to leave it out. We are a family of 4 so, yes, I apologize, we have 3 bicycles. I paid extra to have our smaller vehicle at our site because driving our big truck that pulls our camper isn’t as economical. Seeing as you obviously do a lot of camping [insert sarcasm here] with family, (you have a luxurious 40’ Diesel-pusher with all the bells and whistles for 2 people? ), May I suggest being neighborly and actually having a conversation with us before hiding in you $200k (+-) motorhome, connecting to your own Wifi and bashing others for their troubles on google and posting pictures ??? We could have shared a coffee/tea/wine, and you would have realized that this is our home... Literally. We are in between campgrounds because they were all booked up. We had no where else to go and Glengarry Campground had a space. Furthermore our camper is finally breaking down after 15 years and we are about to get another and must place some items outside to make the upcoming switch. Perhaps next time you could find another spot where your less bothered by ‘things’. A big THANK YOU to Glenngarry Campground for accepting us as who we are and what we’re going through...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Glengarry Campground. We stayed in their only dog friendly cabin, Lac St. Francis, which is right on the waterfront. It is a bit close to the next cabin, but our neighbours were great. Your experience could vary depending on who you get next door, but that's true most places! The cabin itself has a full sized fridge (with a door that opens the wrong direction), a small microwave, a table and two bench seats, a double futon, queen bed and twin bunk beds. There is heat if it gets too cool at night, and there are ceiling fans in each of the two rooms. There is no running water in the cabin, but there is a water tap right behind the cabin. There is a nice sized front porch with two adirondack chairs and a gas BBQ. There is also a fire pit and a picnic table, and a beautiful view of the water. The park itself is small, but we enjoyed walking all around it, as there are very large, shady trees and beautiful views of the St. Lawrence Seaway. There is a boat dock and launch where we could let the dogs wade in for a quick swim. They are not allowed in the beach, picnic or public playground areas, but there were plenty of other places to walk and explore. The staff was nice, and the cabin was well cared for and clean. The washrooms and showers were also clean and not too busy. There are several fast food choices, a grocery store and LCBO about 3km from the park. There is also a train track nearby with a level crossing, so there are train whistles occasionally. We enjoyed them, but light sleepers might be bothered by them. There is also an Anglican Church that the campground surrounds, and there are occasional church bells. They do welcome campers for Sunday service, no dress code.||||We enjoyed our stay very much, and found the campground relaxing and friendly. We would love to stay...
