I booked a 3 bedroom traditional cottage facing the bay and main clubhouse/ office/beach. I stayed inthe first week of September 2018. Loved the cottage with simple decor, beds were comfortable and I had an amazing view of the water from the closed in screened porch and also from the kitchen that had 2 corner windows. The breeze off the lake was so welcoming in the evening heat. There was a large fan available and ceiling fan in livingroom. No air conditioning, it is real cottaging experience. There are 2 muskoka chairs available but I am sure you can ask for extras if needed. I also brought my own folding chairs for outdoors and linens, they have linens and towels for an extra charge. Pillows are available but I prefer to bring my own. They also have a propane bbq at your cottage. Thereis onlya main firepit available to use for everyone and it is by the beach area and always stocked with wood, muskoka chairs available by fire pit. The fishing was great off the docks in front of cottage. They can recommend a local fishing tournament guide who can take you out fishing but you need to book directly with him and he has different rates. Ask them about their pontoon tours and that is a separate rate, as we had a wonderful tour with Captain Ray as I called him, very knowledgeable about surrounding area and lakes, Ray was wonderful person. During July and August, they have many activities for children and I saw a great amount of toys near the beach area, so kids are not bored at this resort, with planned activities also in their upper level craft room. There is also a tea room that is over the water on main dock. The beach overall is small but they have added much sand to about 3 feet of water which makes it great for the kids. When you go for walks along the docks the kids get excited to see frogs jumping around in evening. Just 3 minutes down the road, you can also swim at the Sandy Lake beach which is spring fed and the water is blue. The grounds are so clean and the staff are always cleaning the shoreline. Very close to the village of Buckhorn there is a foodland store, bakery and small restaurants. They have an information centre in the village. Their Pizza Alloro place is really good. I had the best pizza from them and took it back to the cottage. Amazing sunsets, calming watersand the beautiful song of the Loons will make you totally feel at peace with nature. Will go again, amazing staff and if you need something or something is broken at the cottage, they will do their best to fix it. My coffee carafe had a hairline crack in it and they got me a brand new coffee maker for the cottage. They also do weddings there and before I left, they were setting up for a wedding event that coming weekend. Beautiful location to get married at by the lighthouse point, which is beautiful setting. Check out their website for various rates on different cottage styles. Beautiful...
Read moreStayed at Scotsman Point resort from Aug 8 to Aug 14 with my husband, my two daughters and my son-in-law. We all loved the resort. We stayed in one of the three bedroom deluxe cottages that backed onto Buckhorn lake. The cottage was very clean and and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and had every thing we needed. The cottage resort followed all the safety rules for Covid 19. There was a brand-new pair of oven mitts along with three new tea towels,a jaycloth and a new barbeque starter left in a clear bag on the counter by the sink. All the utensils were wrapped in plastic and there were brand new flipper and other utensils in a clear sealed bag. ||The view outside our cottage was beautiful and it was wonderful to hear the loon and see the ducks leave the lake so we could feed them. Our stay at Scotsman Point was wonderful. There were activities that my girls enjoyed. One took part in the yoga classes on the deck and they all loved the two evening movies under the stars. For the younger children they had many more activities.||We rented a row boat for the week and my husband and the kids loved the fishing. You could fish right from the dock or from the boat. The resort gave us an hour cruise on their platoon boat though Buckhorn lake which was lovely. The sunrise was incredible from our cottage. We really enjoyed our time there. Kelly, Leslie and all the staff were super friendly. I would definitely recommend the resort for couples and families. Great place to stay in the Kawarthas. ||While were were at the resort we visited the town of Buckhorn, the Gallery on the Lake, the nice Indengious gift shop in Curve lake, went to the beach at Sandy Lake, visited Bobcaygen, and Felleon Falls. It was a fantastic vacation at...
Read moreMy wife and I had our wedding at Scotsman Point on the weekend of Sept. 12th, 2015. We had our friends and family rent cabins and we had the best weekend of our lives! The staff at the resort were all incredibly accommodating, and we'd like to thank Kelly and Jim in particular, who could not have made for a more relaxed and friendly experience, from the planning right through the whole weekend. If you are thinking about a relaxed and fun outdoor wedding in the Kawartha Lakes area this is your spot. We just rented a big tent from Create Shade in Buckhorn, had a potluck and big bbq and then hired a band to rock the night out. We even had our wedding on their dock, which was plenty big for all 80+ guests. Everyone who went, has told us that it was the best weekend ever and we agree. Thanks guys! We already have our cabin booked for our 1 year anniversary! See you...
