Modern hotel on the outskirts of Trois-Rivières. It's a short drive from Trois-Rivières's old town and suburban malls and dining sports, but if you're not driving/taking public transit, then you might want to stay in the old town instead. I was driving so I appreciated the free parking. However, the roads around the hotel were quite confusing, and note that the hotel is currently under construction/expansion so you'd have to enter through the back door/parking area.
The lobby had a modern, welcoming and nicely decorated seating area. The receptionist during check-in deserves a shout-out - she was very friendly and enthusiastic! We received an upgrade to a suite, which was not a suite per se as it was just one large room with an extra seating area. It would have been nicer if the sofa could be converted into a sofa bed, and having some sort of division would have created more privacy. Nevertheless, as a free upgrade, it was nice enough and large enough for the three of us. The bathroom also had plenty of space, and I appreciated the divider between the sink and the toilet.
There were a few really thoughtful aspects of the hotel. One was the large and bright corridors, in contrast with the narrow and dark corridors that hotels often have. The second was complimentary coffee and tea being available 24/7 in the breakfast area, which did not exist at the few other Holiday Inn Expresses I have previously stayed at. I also liked how we could see Pont Laviolette (although not the river) from our room.
The breakfast was your typical Holiday Inn Express breakfast. Nothing to complain or write home about. But the breakfast area was very nice as the space was open during the evening, where we had our take-out food. It also had tables with charging ports, conviniently situated in a corner, which was great as I had to attend a virtual meeting right after breakfast.
Overall, the hotel really met my needs and I'm...
Read moreMy husband, daughter and I stayed here during our trip to Nicolet to visit in laws. Check in process was nice and easy, the woman spoke English luckily for us as we arent very good at speaking french (we try). Having bilingual staff definitely helps boost our ratings! So kudos to IHG for that! Our room was new, fresh and very clean. Our king bed was AMAZING! So comfortable! And has two choices of pillows as well! One thing I look for is the use of full duvet covers in which they had. I've seen some hotels use a flat sheet folded over the duvet itself, kind of gross when you wake up in the middle of the night toughing the duvet itself. So I was happy with the cleanliness of the bed. The remote was covered with plastic for germ free use! Cable TV provided, lots of English channels too! No outlets close to TV for use of fire stick or Google Chromecast (which hotels usually frown upon anyways). The lighting was perfect, the window covering was perfect (black out, no light entered room). The bathroom was beautiful, great lighting, big stand up shower, great water pressure (just wish there was a step or seat for easier shaving LOL) shampoo, conditioner and body wash available. Could have used more than one bar of soap though! The staff was friendly and helpful! The breakfast was good, hot breakfast too! Eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, toast/bagels, yogurts, fruits, juices, coffee etc. We had to take it back to our room due to covid but they packed it up and supplied us with all we needed. The pool was just what we expected. Small and only 4 ft deep throughout. Perfect for small children. Luckily we were able to book a time slot and it was just us in the pool, kind of nice that way! We will be coming back in July as this is our new favourite hotel in trois rivieres! Kudos to the holiday inn express...
Read moreJust can't catch a break with this hotel chain. Zero customer service. Niet, nada. If I can put a zero rating, I would. We are a family of 4 and reserved the King Suite on their website. No details were available with regards to the number of beds in the room with the exception of the pictures which showed a king bed and a pull-out bed sofa. We reserved the room and to our surprise upon check-in, it contained a king bed only (false and misleading advertising on their website). It even stated on the invoice that a max. allowed in the room is 5. Maybe, someone will sleep on the kitchen table. We contacted the front desk and after back and forth discussions, which also included the "Supervisor" by phone, no satisfactory conclusion was reached for a resolution. Somebidy was going to sleep on the floor or we had to cancel and go somewhere else. The issue was that there were no other availabilities somewhere else. The funny part to all this drama was, no other solution was provided and they had no folding beds (which hotel has no folding or extra beds? or extra mattresses?). We contacted the online customer service and the complaints department and got the many usual apologies, the run-around and long waiting times, twice. Not quite sure why, we were referred back to the hotel reception for resolution. We went out trying to find a place that sells inflatable beds to no avail. I slept on a lounge sofa and the kids in the bed as they needed their rest due to the swimming competition the next day. Hilton, which I have been a Elite Member for 15 years, wouldn't have done this to a customer. This will be the last time I will step into a Holiday Inn...
