The Hampton Inn is usually a reliable option for my frequent business travels. This was an exception. The check in process was slow and clunky. First, this is one of the new and ridiculous trends of putting the lobby as far away vertically from the entry as physically possible. In this case, 14 floors up. Given that the elevators are no where near the ground floor and painfully slow to arrive (and apparently with no smart programming features), this added a full 5 minutes to the arrival process, unaided by the person hired to great arrivals who apparently wasnât trained to push the elevator button, the one helpful thing he could have done when my taxi arrived. Once finally at the lobby I was greeted by 3 pleasant but poorly trained clerks. Mine was so hell bent on getting me to sign up for the frequent visitor program he failed to note Iâve been a Hilton Honors member since the program was created. He then insisted on running through the breakfast menu though Iâd already informed him Iâd be leaving at 3am. ||Then Iâm presented with the registration form, which contained nearly a full page of very fine legalese print in Spanish. Absolutely impossible to read and ridiculous that they think we should blinding sign such a lopsided agreement. Had the hour been more agreeable I would have walked out then. ||Then back to the elevator and the painfully slow process to go back down to my floor. Where I found the room to be far too hot and despite the nice ocean view the windows done open and the thermostat would only allow me to turn the temp down a few degrees. Frankly, the room never reached comfortable temperature. ||The room itself was ok. Not large but functional. A single light switch operated all the overhead lights which was both tacky and dysfunctional, but they probably saved $100 on construction. ||The bathroom: the sink area is too small for me to put my shaving kit or layout my toiletries. I canât imagine what a woman or a couple would do. The shower has sliding doors but they were installed with the overlap facing the wrong way so the floor was a swamp when I was done with my very quick shower. ||Then the bed: the hardest mattress Iâve slept on in ages. Nice pillows, though. ||In short, they got most of the details wrong. Which is too bad as itâs a nice building with a nice view, and if it were designed by a competent architect and operated by trained staff it would be excellent. But, alas, it is a poor substitute for excellence and Iâd recommend you...

Read moreDo not expect the place to be any similar to the normal Hilton you might stay in Europe or North America. Staff is slow and not helpful Service - After your breakfast, you will be asked to remove your dirty dishes from the table by yourself đ”âđ« Room without any single windows with the opening system, so although youâre right on the ocean youâre not able to get any fresh air, only from A/C - room has a smell of MOLD they have no idea what the word cappuccino means.
