I have never been treated the way I was treated this past Saturday 9th of January. I used to go there for dinner and drinks often growing up. Place that has a set of special memories for me and this past weekend they were all banished. My mother and I whent for a drive with my grandmother to Puerto Chacabuco doing my last day in Chile after a 3 week visit. My grandmothers sisters came along and we desided to go get something to drink there halfway therew the afyernoon. My mom walked in and asks if they can serve us and the waitress says yes of course. This to happen in the main dinning room where other people were. So we park the car and walk in. Building just like I remebered it, inside out. But the service changed. The waitress wasn't Chilean and I say this not because it mares she wasent but it matters for the people in the hotel to know who it is. She tells us "we are sorry but we can't serve you in this room because this is only if your going to have dinner" witch we couldn't because we were envied for dinner elsewhere. And she says "if you wanna drink then go to the bar yet in the CONDITION these ladies are (offending my 100% active and independent grandmother and sisters)seems like not a good idea let me serve you here in this table instead." She puts us in the coffee area. So we say well who cares let's get a drink and leave. So we ordered a natural Jiuce for everyone but me. I was already pissed.onviusly because the destination thu were making was obvious to everyone there. I've never been treated like this anywhere in America. Where I live and grew up. So she brings the drinks, she served them from a 5 liter Sparcling water bottle they probably recycled, IN FRONT OF US! It wasent in the fridge so the juice was warm (tasted my grandmothers) and it wasent natural or fresh but from a bag. My grandmother asked for ice and was served a glass with 3 ice cubes and nothing to serve them with. The waitresses were gatherer around the small bar in that area so when we called they didn't see us. Lack of service. So my mom and I stand and go pay. And they didn't even say thanks. Or how was it. They looked at us as if we were less. The WAITRESES! The reason why I post this is because if you eat there or support this place your not supporting real Patagonian people or food, your supporting a place that is Racist and discriminatory with there clients. And it shouldn't be this way. Patagonian people are friendly and respectful. Compatiomete and well hearted. Hope thy advice there staff to change those manners. They have some serious professionalism issues. My mother is the Gobvenor of that area. My grandmother is a wealthy educated retired professor that owns lots of land. I whent to fashion school so we were dressed properly. My mom is a politician she always dresses properly. So this wasent about money. Because we aren't low class people. It was about race and nationality. I felt desgusted. I will never recommend This place again. In the states we don't do things like that in places like that. It's a small rustic middle class hotel. They should be welcoming everyone. Or be professional. The only reason why I didn't say anything right there was for respect for my grandmother and...

The bathroom was dirty when we arrived. I let the front desk know and they sent someone to clean it. When trying to book my stay i had a million problems. The first agent did not want to sell me packages because they kept telling me my 3 almost 4 year old was too little and was going to get bored. I asked for a new agent and the second did book my trip but would not send me a link to pay and asked me if I was still interested like 5 times before actually sending the link for me to pay and book. My biggest issue was with the trip to laguna san rafael which is not child friendly at all (meaning they dont like kids). We were thrown to the 1st floor of the ship with all kids and older folks while they ran all activities in the top floor with the younger crowd. We had to go up there and stand to watch. The older folks couldn't constantly go up and down the stairs so they stayed down and missed the festivities. They constantly mentioned the police this and police that to intimidate you. My mom wasn't able to get a picture by herself with the glacier because they sat her in the middle of the boat and wasn't allowed to move. When i told the guide she laughed in my face and told me it was impossible to get pictures with people in the background, which is falce because i got plenty of pictures of myself with no one in the background. When i told her i was able to get pictures of myself because i sat on the side, she said mom mom couldn't go again and walked away. We stayed here to go see laguna san rafael but i would recommend stay in puerto rio tranquilo and do excursion from there with a different...

The hotel dominates the remote hamlet uphill from an active port.It is a rather large scale operation- I would guess at least 150 on the galcier excursion- but manages a good standard of food in the restaurant. They try to palm you of with a buffet later,so go in early for proper a la carte.| I perhaps enjoyed the bar meal ( forced to eat late one night after restaurant closed) ,which had beautiful beef in a fresh ciabatta,a little more.Views are superb from the restaurant.Breakfast was good, but marred by very small plates.| Rooms are standard US type, very spacious and well fitted. There was NO BATH OR BASIN PLUG- a local custom I could do without.| The catamaran excursion to the glacier foot started very early and finished late. The bus pick up ( long drive around what would be a short distance on foot), ended in the driver reversing onto an unguarded pier- potential multiple drowning from a slip of the foot! Safety was better managed on the ship, and the small boats were well handled. The inevitable long return voyage ofter the boating ( be warned two boats must make a total of 10 trips, requiring a few hours) was made into a torment by forced “ entertainment” including a quiz and karaoke.Access to the only bit of peace on the stern deck was blocked by dancers.| On returning to port ,I felt that visits to the ferry ,container ship, large tug ,and a fishing boat, would have made a more intersting day, though not for the hordes on the cat.| I was not aware of any hiking or private boat hire...

Had a stroll around the village as a cruise stop off. The village was far more interesting than expected - houses, dogs, water surroundings, dogs, clean air (amazingly clean air!), dogs and unexpected hot sun. Couldn’t find any open places to serve us a beer though. Came across this unusual bit unsigned place. We were so grateful it was a hotel and we’re happy for walk ins. It wasn’t clear they served beer and no one else was drinking it. Staff immediately wanted to accommodate us and were happy to bring beers from restaurant into cafe area. Staff spoke great English, tables, surroundings and toilets superbly clean. Views were well worth the €5 per Austral bottle! Only odd thing was the only clue of what the hotel was called was on the door mat! No outside signs!!!

A great place ran by a company from the USA that also runs the catamaran that takes you to the San Rafael glacier. Customer service was perfect. Food was great. Rooms spacious and spotless. We stayed two nights. We arrived around 6pm, had diner in the bar area (we skipped the buffet). The food was good. The next day we first had a great breakfast and at 7am the tour to the glacier started. In the catamaran they again gave us breakfast and, later, lunch. The trip to the glacier takes about 5 hours. Then, 2 hours at the glacier where they take you in small zodiac boats close to the glacier. We saw a leopard seal lounging on a small iceberg about 15 feet from us. On the way back they give you whiskey with ice from the glacier and diner. Overall, excellent.
