Calama is an expensive town due to the demand for accommodation from the mining staff that work outside the town - but even so $US98 for a double room here felt like a rip-off. Positives: the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. Negatives: the hostel is not within walking distance of anything - if you want anything you need to catch a taxi to get there; but even worse was the dreadful breakfast that consisted of stale bread with no condiments, powdered milk that they haven't even bothered mixing up into a jug (one would think that for $US98 a night they could stretch to at least long-life milk!), half dead fruit, instant coffee and cornflakes. ||||All in all it was very over-priced and I wouldn't recommend this...

The hotel is good for one night because it's clean and staff is nice and willing to serve you correctly - but don't expect anything fancy, the decoration is quite basic and corridors can look sad. The twin room was correct, with a private bathroom and a good hot showe, and a TV. The location of the hotel is quite bad as it is far from the center - you cannot walk there - so you can only use taxi to move. You can dinner there if you don)t want to go out which...
Read moreNice, large, and tidy rooms. Unfortunately the location is not very convenient and the breakfast is terrible. The staff is not very friendly and the neighbourhood is somehow frightening. Do not ask for booking a taxi at the reception. Take a cab on your own (several taxis nearby). The reception will book a non oficial service which might be under your expectations in terms of security...
