Our trip to Patagonia was based on a week-long stay at the El Mirador de Guadal Lodge y Restaurante. This is a ‘magical’ place. The landscapes are too beautiful for our eyes; the vibrancy of color from the boldest turquoise rivers to the lush green grass forest to the rainbow of colored buildings in town, everywhere you look is more jaw dropping than the next. The restaurant food is exceptional from start to finish like smoked salmon tastings to mushroom tortellini to the melt in your mouth desserts such as crème brulée or chocolate mousse. The quiet secluded cabins are perfect for getting back to nature. I arose each morning in the San Valentin suite to nature’s paint by number landscape view that changed colors by the minute; first the pink clouds, then the sun touching the icy peaks, then lighting the grays and shadows of the rock below, and finally the icy waters changing all colors of blue. Physical activities included horseback riding to a waterfall, seeing Guanacos at Patagonia National Park, kayaking Lake Beltrand, hiking to the confluence of Rivers Baker and Neff, exploring a derelict forgotten mine, spotting Andean condors soaring above the majestic Marble caves, and traversing a rain forest for a spectacular glacial view. Leisure activities included walks along the Lake General Carrera pebbly shoreline, relaxing in the comfortable bed with a toasty fire, petting the friendly dogs, photographing owls, bats, and parrots in the surrounding trees, and strolling through the quaint town of Puerto Guadal. All the views, lodging, food, and activities are top notch, but the ‘magic’ comes from the people. The entire staff were polite and took great care of us, but beyond that they were so friendly, supportive, and welcoming that by the end felt like family. I really cannot say thanks enough, we enjoyed every minute of it. To those in the planning stages, reading this, one word, GO! Best regards, Eric & Emily

Absolutely wonderful place. We genuinely cried as Stepan skipped down the track with our kids. Utterly wonderful people, insanely beautiful place, great meals, great drinks. Incredibly knowledgeable people who helped us with all our Patagonian jauntings. They went out of their way to help when my son had an earache, they went home to find a hot water bottle. The lake is AMAZING - go to the beach and swim in freezing cold glacial meltwater. Cannot recommend enough.

These beautiful cabins have fantastic lake and alpine views. Welcoming hosts with great suggestions based on your time and interest. Food was great, particularly for this remote location. Three course dinners are expensive, but excellent. Accommodated vegetarian diet with notice. They have horses too. Located about 2 km out of Puerto Guadal (small market, fuel). This place is highly recommended.

We have stayed at a dozen hotels and lodges in our trip to Patagonia in January 2024, and El Mirador del Guadal was on the top of the list of best stays. |Owners Carolina and Stefan were very hospitable and friendly not to only us but to all guests. They were always friendly and asked us how our stay was going and recommended places to visit. |We stayed at cabaña “La Lenga” with very confortable beds, stove and logs for heating up the place, hot showers, and specially, breathtaking views of General Carrera Lake. |Breakfast and dinner were delicious and a calm and relaxing music was always playing on the background. | We had only one regret… not have stayed more days… We’ll miss this place! Thank you so much Carolina and Stefan! |Highly recommend!| Thank you so much...

From the minute we made the reservation, the owner of the hotel contacted us to ask us about food restrictions and thus be able to receive us perfectly. The spectacular food, the very well done dishes and the very varied and filling breakfast (especially for daily outdoor activities). The rooms are super spacious with an excellent unobstructed view of Lake General Carrera, each with a forest that the facilities team is responsible for loading with dry firewood on a daily basis. The beds are hotel line, large and very comfortable (if you are looking to rest after a day of activities they are perfect). Cleaning is daily with replacement of towels and amenities.||There are several activities that the hotel can coordinate and they are extremely quick to manage absolutely everything that the lake has to offer (from tours of the marble chapels, to jetboats upstream to see the snowdrifts).||Spectacular for all types of trips given the versatility of the hotel.
