We love Basecamp! And we love Francisco! We arrived to base camp not knowing about it during a late evening in March. He greeted us at the entrance and kindly offered to show us around. I believe it was $8 a person a night to camp, and that included hot showers. It’s more expensive than the campground next door, but way nicer (the other campground is super crowded, and no showers). ||We arrived and had a short walk from our car to the site. It was a beautiful open area with the mountains surrounding us. There are really nice bathrooms and showers that were recently built. Multiple huge sinks to do your dishes. There is another common area under shelter to eat, hang out, have a fire. He even has a little trailer that Has great food! (Sandwiches, breakfast, hot dogs) for a very reasonable price being as remote as it is. It had everything we could want for a campground! Parking cost is also included the next day if you camp there. ||We got to know Francisco during our time there and he is a wonderful host. He helped us with planning, find wood for the fire, connected us with people at La Junta; he really made our experience special. We will be...
