If you are driving North from Santiago to La Serena or beyond, it's all too easy to stay on the Pan-American Highway, which is a fast motorway. But between Los Vilos and La Serena you can also take a well engineered properly surfaced inland route, passing through the remote town of Combarbalá, almost 900m above sea level.||||The town is composed mainly of single storey adobe dwellings, although the main part of the Yagnam on Calle Valdivia is two storeys high, on a quiet street one block beyond the Plaza de Armas. (There's also an Annexe round the corner.) It has about half a dozen spacious and spotlessly clean rooms on the first floor. All were very quiet (Combarbalá is not a place to go for nightlife!) and those at the rear overlook an attractive pool in the back yard (but as the temperature in a June evening was only a few degrees above freezing that was quite irrelevant to my stay!).||||The bed was comfortable; there was a large flat screen TV with the main Chilean channels, and a proper desk at which to work, as well as free wi-fi. The hotel restaurant was closed, as were many restaurants in town, but we found one that was open.|The rooms were clean and we had proper bed linen, the shower worked at a constant temperature, and there was aircon which you may need to use.||The is a small pool which my friends used and enjoyed. Staff were lovely and helpful.||The breakfast is a bit odd in that it’s laid out for each person, everything wrapped in cling film, on very small plates. Bread roll, white bread, a piece of cake, all wrapped separately, and two small pieces of ham and cheese, wrapped of course. The cereal bowls were small too, as was the cutlery; have you tried eating cornflakes with a teaspoon? The scrambled egg was microscopic, arriving is a tiny dish with a tiny spoon! Read moreBuen lugar, el personal amable, las camas bastante buenas, instalaciones amplias en relación a la cantidad de personas que atiende el hotel.||||Solo algub. nos detalles:||||mejorar los baños todo el tiempo un olor desagradable, pero que se mermaba bastante con el aceite ambiental que tienen enchufado.||||Por último no estacionar jamás los autos fuera del hotel pinchan y desinflan las ruedas y coincidentemente frente al hotel venden compresores me pareció al menos curioso El problema más grave que al dueño de ese local también rajaron su neumático, sin embargo fue nuestra culpa por no estacionar en los estacionamientos del hotel que quedan a un par de pasos del hotel no en la instalación misma.||||Lo anterior podría ser efecto de la conmoción nacional anda gente en todos lados haciendo daño.||||No es la idea del movimiento eso...
