We enjoyed staying one night at this small hotel. |Check-in was easy, Jorge was very efficient and friendly. We had asked for a standard room and when we discovered it did not have its own balcony, we asked for a room with a balcony. Jorge said that would be a suite and did not charge the additional price. We appreciate the courtesy! |The suite was a large bedroom with a sitting area. There is a balcony outside the sliding glass doors where you can sit and enjoy watching the waterfalls. The bed faces the waterfalls also. We left the sliding door open at night and enjoyed sleeping to the sound of rushing water. |Housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful. |We did the 45 minute walk around the property which is situated on an island between two branches of Rio Lajas. We saw the No. 3 Falls and enjoyed seeing the large number of deer they keep in enormous, fenced pastures. We also saw their alpacas and geese. It felt like being on a small farm. |Breakfast was average, the typical Chilean hotel breakfast.|We ate twice at the hotel’s restaurant located a few hundred meters downhill, next to the road. The food was average. The location with a view of the falls and the friendly and efficient service made it a very nice experience. |Overall a very enjoyable...

We had a 12 hour drive ahead of us and decided to break it in two by staying a night at this hotel. We were given a decent sized room with a double bed, another single bed right next to the double bed and two separate beds in another smaller adjacent room. The bathroom was spacious enough, but extremely dated. The whole cabin gave the impression of not having had money put in it since the 1970's. However, the view of the waterfalls from the room was lovely and the hotel has ample beautiful grounds within which to stroll. There are two swimming pools, a modern one which we used and an old-fashioned but nice swimming pool filled with river water, which has not been properly maintained but was quite original. The hotel has an excellent restaurant on the grounds which is worth visiting and the rate includes a surprisingly good breakfast. All in all the hotel has nothing remotely fancy about it and is quite basic, but then again there is nowhere fancy anywhere nearby so this is really the only place to stay within many many kilometres. Although not at all impressed by the hotel, I would have no problem staying here again should the need arise, avoiding the 12 hour drive...

The hotel has 46 rooms, all with great views of the largest waterfalls of the Laja River. Breakfast was good. WiFi was not great in our room (#45), the second farthest from the main office. The negative is that the shower needs cleaning. One thing is that the rooms are old with old sheets but lack of cleanliness shouldn't be. The restaurant was OK: We had empanadas, juice, and a salad for CLP 13,300 pr about 15 USD. The hotel was CLP 109,400 or $119 USD for one night.

Saltos del Laja is a great place with an amazing view. Right outside the hotel you can see guanacos or llamas walking around (I can’t really tell the difference 🫠). Within walking distance there’s a park with deer, plus a great restaurant with delicious food. The only downside was that the bar with a stunning view of the waterfall was closed during my visit.

The family that runs this hotel is so nice. They really go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The location is a short walk up a gravel road, which gets you away from all of the noise on the main street and from there, it is only a 2 minute walk to the rim of the waterfall.
