Glaciar de Roca — Hotel in Paihuano

If you want to stay in the heart of the Elqui Valley and be nearly as remote as one can be while still having incredible WiFi - this is the spot! We spent one night here but should have booked more. The only tricky piece about this spot is getting here off the main road. While it isn’t a far distance you really should have 4WD. The road is tight and severe switchbacks. You also need to bring in food with you especially if you don’t have a car. Each unit is exquisitely designed to allow you to cook dinners indoors or out with a regular sized fridge and freezer to boot. ||To say this place is magical might be a vast understatement. We spent the late afternoon hiking up to the scenic lookout (although each unit has its own incredible views and privacy for late nights in the hot tub). We spent the next 2 hours by the pool which given how hot it is actually had cool water for swimming and lovely shaded lounge chairs. ||We brought in drinks and a pizza with us for our evening and it was perfect. We turned off all the lights and just sat outside watching the moon rise over the mountains as the sunset. After we spent hours soaking in the hotel tub watching more stars appear in the sky. Just magical!||The interior is well appointed too with great bedding, linens, towels and vegan shower products that smelled and felt like luxury after having traveled for so long. ||For breakfast the following morning, we were brought a delicious selection of fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, croissants, cheese and more! Each unit it also outfitted with a tea pot, tea, a moka coffee maker and ground coffee!||If we ever have the chance to come back to the Elqui Valley we will 1000% book this spot again!||Also - be sure when in the area to book the 3 hours tour and wine tasting at vinedos de alcohauz! The guide essentially gave us the entire history of the area from different stops along the tour that changes in elevation 5 times! The vineyard is magnificent. The best excursion we’ve ever taken to a winery anywhere...

One of the quietest and most peaceful places in the world. The accommodation offers the perfect opportunity to retreat and enjoy life in the Pisco Elqui region. The accommodation is particularly recommended for couples. Important to know: 1. you must bring your own dinner. Only breakfast is provided. Having travelled for more than 50 years and visited more than 140 countries this is the place that I will never forget.Absolutely magical ,wonderful, not just the BEST LOCATION in the Elqui Valley but certainly BEST ACCOMODATION and service . Since words cannot describe, come to Glaciar de Roca and experience yourself. My wife and I would love to stay more than our 3 nights !
