Not sure where to begin... let's start with the basics.||We got here on Friday Aug 18th to spend a 4 day weekend with my husband and 2 year old toddler.||The smell in the room, especially the bathroom was unbelievable, what can only be described as a rotten egg. I complaint right away at the front desk, their answer was "oh yes that's common, it's sulfur and the smell concentrates on the top floor". I requested to change rooms but they said that there was nothing available. ||We decided to stay as we were told that if we cracked the window a bit, the smell would go away (also, it was too late to drive back to our town, which is over 2 hours away). ||A little later, we wanted to give our daughter a bath, but there wasn't hot water... we were told there was something going on with the pipes. I requested hot water for her bottle, since there wasn't any available in the room, to what their answer was: "that will not be possible as we don't have room service". My husband had to go down to get hot water for her bottle (it took them a good 10 minutes to provide it). | |Second night, after spending a whole day snowboarding and playing in the snow, we went to our room to take a shower ... big surprise, no hot water again and the same exact nasty smell. This time, when I called front desk, the answer was: "Yes we know, our staff is working on fixing it, it should work again shortly". Well, it didn't.||Both nights so far have been beyond terrible, it is by far the noisiest hotel I've ever been to. They have karaoke nights and crapy "imitators" that will make your ears bleed, I'm not exaggerating. We are in the 5th floor and you can hear extremely loud music to the point that it's impossible to fall asleep. ||We were finally placed in another room this morning (after 2 nights in hell), I actually woke up at one point last night because of the smell, I honestly thought we were intoxicating ourselves. ||The access to the hotel is beyond bad. Parking is about a 5 minute walk on really steep stairs with a lot of ice and snow; really dangerous! ||The bar is so weird, terrible service, really bad drinks... the service is so bad that the only time we went there, we got tired of waiting for the check (after requesting it twice), so we just left ... nobody even noticed it (the waiter actually left after we requested the check for the second time). My husband went there to pay afterwards. ||Our daughter takes a nap everyday after lunch, so I've come with her to the room to put her down. Every day the maids are pretty much yelling from one room to the next, not even work related things. I've had to request them to please keep quiet as I'm trying to make my baby sleep (even though I put the "Do not disturb" tag on the door). Just now, 10 minutes ago, one of them actually opened our door and woke her up!! I really don't understand how that can happen when the "Do not disturb sign is on"! Just completely unaware and poorly trained. ||The food in the restaurant is really bad, one time was plenty. We had dinner there the first night. My daughter dropped some food on the floor. The next day, we sat on the same table, and the exact same food was on the floor! So not only the food is bad but also the restaurant is dirty.||The pool is SO dirty!! Since the stairs are pretty much a death trap, I requested for the hotel truck to come get us. They never showed up, we waited for 20 minutes and after she was freezing and crying, I decided to carry her up at risk of falling, what a bad experience! ||I could be writing for a whole day about how bad this place is, but I'm going to wake my daughter up to go play in the snow... which is pretty much the only nice thing about this hotel (it's right in the...
Read moreThis hotel is a 3 star at its best. There is no luxury here. If you are staying here its because you want to ski. The location of the hotel is what I would describe as midmountain so you have easy access to the Otto Chair. The other ski in / out hotels are located in the lower mountain and with no snow making capabilities anywhere at Nevados Chillan, those other hotels become walk in / out during lean snow years. We read through a lot of the reviews before booking and frankly did not expect much and did not receive much in service or quality. What really helped was a the 12” of snow we received on the second day we were there. My family, consisting of our 7 and 3-year-old, my wife and I recently stayed six nights at this hotel. The price you pay here is much less than what you would pay at any other ski in / out location in Chillan and the adage of you get what you pay for certainly applies. Here is a rundown of the fact, please don’t think we are complaining, it is so you know what you are getting yourself into. The best way I can describe the hotel is if the owner saw a need and decided to build a hotel as fast and cheaply as possible. The access to the hotel is via a single lane dirt road up a steep incline, difficult at best, virtually impossible during any kind of storm. The rooms are slapped together with the cheapest material you can find, the closets are something you would find from Ikea and already falling apart, and yes you will hear every conversation in the hotel and the disco bar on the first floor so bring earplugs. Expect to drag your luggage to & from your room. We actually found the food buffet to be pretty good. There is no wifi. There is nothing for the kids to do between when the lifts close and dinner at 7:30 pm, no kids room or activities. We saw parents that had brought their own board games playing in the lobby. We did not book the all-inclusive, instead opting for breakfast, dinner & lift tickets, which was a better price. We would have given the place 3 stars but they flat out lied to us about connecting rooms. I conversated with the booking agent via email and was assured we would have it, when we arrived, we got rooms on the opposite side of the hall, apparently, they don’t even have connecting rooms. We tried complaining but no one really cared that we had an email confirming connecting rooms and since they wanted prepayment when we booked the rooms it was hopeless. If you are planning on staying here, avoid prepaying so you have some leverage when (not if) something goes wrong. As stated earlier, you get what you pay for, although it will cost more, we will not stay...
Read moreDue to the lack of snowfall, this was our first and only ski trip of the season. The price for the place was high, but considering it was only two days and we wanted a treat, we made the reservation and soon were on our way. On the way there, I called to make a reservation for a massage, but they said there was no availability until Friday (I called on Sunday!). They told me I could make a reservation in Hotel Nevados, another hotel managed by the same people, but 2 km. down the hill. The rooms are ok, and the food was ok. But nothing luxurious and everything kept at a bare minimum. its the little things that bother though. You pay usd400 for a room, but then you must pay 3 dollars for a swimming cap to use the hot swimming pool. On Sunday the water was warm, but on Monday it was cooler and cooler again on Tuesday. Something went wrong with the water, and so in lukewarm water we had to bathe. Stay away from the rooms in the center: there is an olympic team who stays in the hotel and make a lot of noise in the morning. When we took the massage, we had to pay for the spa there because it was not included in the tariff (as we were not staying at this hotel, but at their other hotel). And you had to reserve the sauna, as it is not on constantly and has a cost of $28,000 pesos for a couple. In Chilean they say "penca" meaning "cheap", which it was. Another missed chance for Chilean tourism. Some positive things: the person in the storage room, the waiters and the barman were very nice and the massage was good. If I had paid usd150 I probably would have given it a 4 star rating; the problem is that it does not represent what they charge. There are hotels a bit further down the hill that also have direct access to ski lifts with a better type of service and...
