This place is in a moderately dodgy area, and it is protected like Fort Knox, with no bell as I recall - so be sure to let the owner know your arrival time. It is easy to reach from the centre of Santiago by public transport, although the owner did not seem able to tell me how. There is very little close by - mainly heavily barred off-licences - and most of the takeaways seemed to be shut on the Saturday I was there, although I did find one eventually. The owner was very friendly. The place is a little eccentric, and my room was basic, without bedside light or table, but comfortable enough – except that there was no air conditioning, and keeping the window open was incredibly noisy because of the thousands of dogs barking all night (an occupational hazard in Chile, it seems); thus I barely slept. The shared bathroom was very much like one in someone's home, but very clean. The place did have abundance of shared living spaces though, both outside and inside, that were very pleasant. The owners had clearly gone to a lot of trouble with the self-serve breakfast, which was expansive, and available 24/7 for early flights. The owner was unable to organise taxis, instead recommending Uber and the like. In short, it's cheap and convenient for the airport, but bring your own dinner and...
Read moreWhat could have been an otherwise lovely experience turned into a traveler’s worst as I got under the covers; a sleepless night, cause... BEDBUGS. As if that wasn’t bad enough, when confronted about it in the morning the owner hid behind a cynical smile and tried to BLAME IT ON ME! I’ve worked in the service and hotel industries for 14 years and been a traveler all my life, bedbugs happen, how the service provider deals with it makes a difference. I tried to get my money back, cause I DID NOT GET WHAT I PAID FOR (if I wanted vermin and no sleep for my overnighter between flights, I could have stayed on the floor at the airport) plus now I will need to specially wash all my belongings, probably bring these bugs INTO MY HOME and I didn’t get as much as an apology or an offer of something to apply on my bites (some sign of concern) which made me realize, yeah all the other reviews are true, it’s a nice place and all, but the woman is not actually service-minded or even concerned about the guests experience; no one wants bedbugs and blame. If you don’t want to take a live souvenir from Santiago and a bad aftertaste,...
Read moreI really felt that this place was place was so hospitable. The owners were so friendly and welcoming.||||I booked the place as it was close to the airport and I had an early morning flight so I thought it would be a good place to relax before I left the next day, having just come from some long bus journeys. ||||They had a lovely garden area so chill out in and the place was very clean and comfortable. ||||There's not much around here as it is in a very residential area but there was a local supermarket so I was able to go and buy some basic items to take with me. ||||I also got to meet some interesting people who were also staying here.||||They laid breakfast out for me early so I could take something with me to the airport. It was very nice of them, but I didn't realise that the eggs were not boiled, so I took them and had a nice mess in my bag when I got...
