My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary with a dreamy getaway to Isla Holbox, staying at the stunning Awa Hotel. This was our first visit, and it exceeded all expectations. The property is a beautiful oasis, offering luxurious amenities like a beach club with delicious food, a rooftop pool and bar, and beautifully appointed rooms. We were particularly impressed with our room, which had a connecting lounge area to the pool. One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional staff. Despite experiencing a hurricane during our visit, the team went above and beyond to ensure our safety and comfort.
Carlos, our attentive server, always greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel welcome. His calm demeanor and informative explanations about the hotel's hurricane preparedness were invaluable.
Another standout was Nahuel, whose exceptional customer service and enthusiasm made the beach club at Awa a delightful experience. His recommendations were spot-on, and his friendly interactions with other guests were truly admirable.
We also had the pleasure of enjoying Segundo's delicious passion fruit margaritas. He makes the best in Holbox! We also loved and appreciated his helpful advice on exploring the island. We were always so excited to see him because of his friendly demeanor.
Finally, Issak's accommodating nature and cheerful demeanor made our stay even more enjoyable. His willingness to assist with our request to extend our stay was greatly appreciated. He was very helpful in setting up our taxis as well.
In conclusion, Awa Hotel's exceptional customer service and luxurious amenities make it a truly unforgettable destination. We can't...
Read moreHaving endured a highly unpleasant and intimidating check in, we were shown to a wonderfully appointed suite overlooking Lake Llanquihue and Volcan Osorno. Having only recently been built, the hotel has a modern design with rough concrete as a key structural feature throughout. Sadly, for us, it soon became evident that the AC emitted a sharp, penetrating buzz at intervals of a few minutes. Despite the best attempts of the maintenance team over the next 2 days, the fault could not be rectified, though it was much improved. It transpired that the problem is a long-standing one and widespread. The hotel readily offers ear plugs to guests! During our 4-night stay other maintenance issues also came to light. The other issue was noise from other guests: the design of the rooms is such that the fireplace opens into a flue, which travels from top to bottom of the hotel – thus one is exposed to every guest’s arguements, amorous overtures and, most disturbing, screaming youngsters! When one is expecting to enjoy a fine dinner, with stunning views of the Lake and Volcano Osorno, it is disappointing to be confronted with an overly rich, pretentious menu of mediocre quality food. Further, it was mainly served by pretentious, inexperienced staff (though there were notable exceptions) – one charged us for 3 bottles of wine (c.f. 3 glasses!). The breakfast buffet is extremely cramped and becomes overwhelmed (and depleted). We feel much saddened to write this review as the owner / manager is very attentive and willingly offered us some recompense for the problems we had encountered - but that was not our goal in choosing...
Read moreI stayed at Hotel AWA Match 18-21, 2024. I have been to over 38 countries in the world, staying at all four and five star plus hotels, and this hotel is truly unique and special. They have mastered earthly elegance as the entire hotel is constructed of woods, lava rock and leather, giving it a warmth that hits you immediately as you walk in. The rooms are large, extremely comfortable, with stunning views, the furnishings luxurious but unobtrusive. The bathroom is marvelous - heated floors, a swimming pool size tube, and divine shower with rain head that has incredible pressure and piping hot water (this was my fourth hotel in Chile during my vacation and the only one I found to have both good pressure and temperature). The staff is attentive and kind. Manager Susan and dining staff Diego, and the two Franciscos were exceptional. The food is the best I had in Chile- the lunch and dinner were masterful cuisine. I live in Los Angeles and partake in 5 star dining routinely, and every lunch and dinner I had would compete, if not beat, the best food I have in Los Angeles. The farm to table/ fresh catch dining is sublime and I relished dinner time every night. Overall I would travel the 20 hours from Los Angeles all over again just to experience AWA again. The only thing travelers should be aware of is that it is 30-40 minutes from town - so once you are at the hotel , you will not necessarily in a walkable area. I had no issues with this, but just to make sure future travelers are aware in case they are more...
