We were traveling with friends and booked two different rooms. Both were on the first floor just past the office. The person who checked us in was very nice, but the rooms and bathrooms were definitely outdated, and not antique furniture outdated, but sagging beds, worn sheets and ceilings with past water leaks. The shower in our friends room was actually dingy enough that they skipped showering altogether. It seriously had a "Bates Motel" type of feel. There was even a little, separate windowless room in there unit that had a bed with a plastic sheet over it, which did not help the "Bates Motel" feel. We also found a rock hard ham and cheese biscuit under one of the towels that were folded on our bed. I am not sure if it was left by a previous guest or maybe the cleaning staff accidentally, but it was definitely not a good surprise. ||||The staff was very nice and I think this property is just suffering from some serious deferred maintenance. Since returning, I've verified that Expedia didn't make the error and also noticed that other reviewers had similar problems. I would stay again, but never prepaid due to the issues and now hassle of disputing secondary charges with credit...
Read moreCheck in was reasonably smooth although the staff seemed more Germanic bilingual than English. Unfortunately not all the rooms reserved were provided - 3 doubles were needed and one was a triple with three single beds which seemed to have no central heating and using the electrical radiator shorted out the whole electrical system!||||as an overnight stay however it was interesting with fishing and hunting artefacts adorning the walls - we were the only guests so had the upstairs area to ourselves which at least allowed us to leave the door open to the triple room to warm it up.||||Breakfast was adequate but not buffet, although scrambled eggs were available on request. The waitress / housekeeper, Gladys was attentive and friendly.||||Bathrooms could be updated...
